And as a fan of blue cheese, and nan... WTF? I mean, I got some ideas that I could make good now that I'm thinking about it, but that is not a simple pairing. Louise, you not just an 'Influencer', you have influeced the friggin algorithm itself, which has been hurling Gundam content at me lately. Literally never had youtube try and feed me Gundam until you started talking about it. I'm starting to see stuff about big noggins now too. And yes, burn it all down, it's the only way. Retail manager at a warhammer shop is like only £16k or something. Like GW do not pay well at all. Plus they kinda have an expectation that you are to buy their product. Staff discount is 50% but come on, the company is essentially expecting you to pay them to work there if you think about it. They do audit your hobby as well..... like GW are the imperium. They missed their own jokes. People don't understand how corrupt GW corporate are. Like, "space marines don't take sick days".... i'm not a space marine mate.

I remember the old saying used to be that GW pay you enough to support your hobby but not enough to live and I used to think that was a jokey phrase. It's wild to know that the folks there are so poorly paid for their work.

@33.32 Peachy sounds like you are rendering using your CPU, rather than your GPU. It'll be a setting called something like "render using Graphics Unit, GPU" or something to that effect

Probably my favourite episode so far. How do we donate to the Vallejo union fund? Also GW employees should maybe look into invoking that there statutory recognition procedure by applying to the CAC (Central Arbitration Committee). You know, if they want, whatever.

Vallejo doesn't only produce miniature paints, but othe artist grade paints that go by other brand names.

The thing that really appeals to me about Trench Crusade, is that it takes what I like about 40k, I.e the grim dark, horror, and turns it up to 11. For obvious reasons (mass appeal selling to children) GW is moving toward a more palatable aesthetic. Trench Crusade feels like it slips into the void left behind. Really exited for it!

"Influencer" is how corporations think about content creators/influencers. This person can be used to *influence* an audience into buying product. "Content creator" is how the audience thinks about content creators/influencers. This person *creates content* for an audience to consume. I am surprised how Rob just glossed over this, considering how on the ball he usually is in regards to "bullshit corporations do". I will admit I find both terms somewhat dehumanising as both terms only consider what a person can do for a specific group and do not really consider the person themselves. Then again I can't really offer a better term.

Feels like a bbc investigative journalism piece about why Games Workshop loses so many of its creative staff and pays so poorly is long overdue.

You guys might be one of the few influencers who could set up an organised boycott in the name of getting our games workshop employees the pay and respect they deserve. One month of all your followers and further members of the community refusing to buy gw stock could potentially get their attention and start a proper conversation. It would suck obviously because we all love GW kits, but the bigger names in the community aren’t likely to organise anything and risk losing their free GW goodies privileges

Regarding the Jaime Oliver rant, I would recommend the video Dan Olson with "Folding Ideas" did on the topic. Very interesting!

Germany mentioned!!! Juggz literally would be "Kannen", which interestinly enough would also work as slang for boobs. Obviously there's also a gazillion other words for them though and you probably would not google "kannen" if you're looking for big boobs. (wait, testing it now. for science.)

Interestingly I was interviewed for a retail operations role with GW a few years ago. Given my 20years worth of experience and expertise in the field I've never before been in a position where I have laughed out loud when hearing the financial package on offer. It's sad really. Yeah, Jamie Oliver's proper weird when it comes to "poor people food". There's a great Dan Olson video talking about Jamie's "war on nuggets" where he's trying to explain to some teenagers in his kitchen the difference between expensive chicken goujons made from chicken breast and store bought chicken nuggets, and instead of making any of the arguments against processed meats he tells the kids that you can tell nuggets are bad because food made with reclaimed meat "smells dirty". Or when he shows some other kids how nuggets are made he explains it in terms of cuts like breast being expensive (and thus good) and the scraps are bad because they look gross before they're made into nuggets. It's clearly a lot more about his own personal contempt than he lets on.

So much Enshitification these days: venture capitalists buying up companies, gutting quality, jacking up prices, and fucking over employees. I don't see how a year or two more profits is worth destroying profits.

The way that GW exploits its workers is utterly vile. At the heart of everything, from the insultingly low wages, their refusal to recognize unions and their general attitude of treating their staff as disposable, is the raw bleeding truth that this is a company that doesn’t respect anybody involved in the hobby. They’re all just meat for the grinder, you put your money in as a consumer and if you make the mistake of working for them they will wring every scrap of enthusiasm from your soul to justify the exploitation. “You don’t need to be paid a living wage, you work for your beloved hobby you disgusting peasant, you should feel bad for expecting your efforts to be compensated, and if you dare have the insolence to demand a living wage or decent conditions then there’s a thousand other naïve young twenty-somethings lining up behind you eager to be exploited by us” If you’re still playing GW games, please go investigate some of the alternates, this company doesn’t deserve your loyalty and they are more than happy to exploit your enthusiasm to line their own pockets.

The topic on wages and unions is always a welcome one. Back when I worked for GW (circa 2011) Unions was a dirty word, and it doesn't surprise me to hear it still is. I was "fired" because I dared to look into opening my own hobby store (although the paperwork will tell you otherwise) I took Rob's advice though during my time there.

I wonder what a GW strike would look like? It seems like a basic ask would be to literally double the hourly wages and that still might be on the lower side of reasonable salaries in the UK. They aren't just low, they are insulting.

I've literally just been sat here for 5 minutes straight with my mouth open as Louise and Peachy were talking about the 'Eavy Metal painter salaries. Even if those salaries have risen with inflation since those numbers were correct (sincerely doubt), this is absolutely disgusting - GW staff, you need to unionise NOW! P.S. I'm currently looking at getting into Shatterpoint and would love to make it down for a Shatterpoint event next year!

Sorry the hear the sad news about Dan Vimes - though I did not know him personally, he clearly was very much appeciated and loved by the Juggz, PeachyTips, Rogue Hobbies and Rob THW Communities.

The infant formula thing was a certain Swiss mega corporation and it’s not to do with formula being worse than breast milk, formula has to hit a minimum nutritional standard but breast milk gives a whole slew of side benefits beyond just sustenance. The reason the infant formula scandal is so bad and why so many babies died was that they promoted formula as better than breast milk and gave mothers free samples. What eventually happened was the mothers were then forced to buy the formula once their free samples ran out (not easy in often poverty stricken areas), but by this point their own milk supplies had run out as they weren’t expressing milk to keep supply up. All in all avoid a certain company starting with N.

The Gw wage discussion is IMMENSELY upsetting. It's so awful to hear the reality of that wealth disparity. But by the same token makes me appreciate the boots on the ground staff even more, the love and passion they must have for this hobby to stay in those roles is amazing

The discussion about the bad business practices of Vallejo and Games Workshop was excellent. The managers and executives responsible should be named and shamed for their exploitation of the employees. Rob - buy a share and then ask awkward questions at their Annual General Meeting: „As a shareholder, I require the Management explain their incompetance…“

Rob I can't let this stand! I'm an archaeologist currently on site listening to Juggz while I record a ditch, the Romans had glass I've found it before and the coliseum being flooded for sea battles is attested to historically twice. Gladiator 2 still sucks tho😂
