This channel was set up with the intention of collecting and sharing video clips of older farm machinery. Although i will put up clips of any different or interesting machinery that i happen to film the main focus of this channel is combine harvesters built between 1940 and 1980. As you can probably tell from my videos i own 3 60s Gleaners. Gleaners have always been my favourite ones. I wasn't actually born into farming so all that i have learned about farm machinery has just been gained by trial and error and getting stuck in to projects. Also taking advice off other like minded enthusiasts. I am always open to recieve advice about the restoration and operation of my machinery. Im hoping to learn about how to get the best performance out of a combine during harvest. I believe their is always room for learning and sharing to improve the way we use and maintain old machinery. I really enjoy taking my time to go through a machine just making everything nice keeping the original patina.

Yes it is
That'll be a great project , you might encourage others to become interested . Allis will be a beauty , she's not in bad knick from here . 👍🏴 . Good job having a look up underneath , looks like the years have been kind . Looking forward to following this project .
Good Stuff 👍
Does that have a plunger stopper? I can’t tell if my plunger froze or if it has a stopper
Good machines.
Yes my favourite
My Dad had a S900 back in the seventies. I can see some similarities to this S1000. The S900 had a perkins AD4 236 engine mounted overhead and a 10’ header. It was a very good machine and did loads of work for us. There was some connection with Bamfords who I presume imported these machines. Bolinder Munktell was a parent company (shortened to BM) I hope yous got her running better. 👍
interesting video😊
Massey I would wear a pair of goggles and all the dust on me when I come in at night was where the goggles were nt
Back in the day I used to run an old messy like that
Still a few about here and there
Hi folks The nostalgia keeps on coming was always a joy to start the combine up for service years ago brought the great big machine alive and always reliable . Lovely nice to see keep her up together well done 🎉😊
Thanks pal
Be great if you could save useful parts . 👍🏴
U just come across your channel, very interesting, I also love old combines , my father ran a MF 780 for years , then I bought a ransomes Cavalier , now we run two class matador’s , just a question you wouldn’t know were I could find straw walkers for a matador? . I do believe the newer protector and Mercator are the same ? I’m on cornwall so it would have to be able to courier parts , any help would be appreciated. Keep up the good videos, look forward to more content 👍
Their is a company called JMT Engineering Ladbroke ltd. Ask for Mark Teverson. He is the chap who runs it all. He breaks old combines especially claas. He sends bits all over Europe.
Look him up, i used to work for him. Let me know how you get on. He is in Warwickshire.
Thanks I will 👍
We have two of these Jones 12T balers, best balers we ever owned for speed and reliability. Would love to own a Jones 16 T but have never found one yet. Another great Jones item I have is the Jones mini tedder, used every year on the straw round the rigs.
Hard to believe there is combines like this sitting about, we have a still working M103 built in 1965 originally with a 12 foot head that was cut down to 10 foot in 1977 I think it was when my dad bought it
They're is still a few about in hard to get to places mate. Not many though
Sum body shud save her
Best combines ever made.
Belgian fabrication
Yes i suppose it is
@@rbharvesters7404 Yes it is from "Claeys" in Zedelgem.
Always a hitch on an old combine. I grew up running Deere 95s , worked on them daily it seemed. Interesting to see some from across the pond!
Yes good to here from you. I know a chap who has a 1947 round back John Deere 55 combine. One of only 2 to make it here from America. It wasn't until John Deere bought the Lanz factory in Germany that they got a footholdin the European market. They are definitely starting to make ground in recent years over here
We have 2 round back 55s not much left of them but rust. My dad ran one on harvest up into North Dakota. The first combine I ran when I was 9 years old was a 55 round back.
@Digginok fantastic looking machines. This one had been for sale since the restoration many years ago but its just not suitable for our conditions here. Its one hell of a show machine though. The JD 55 that is. The model A Gleaner is the perfect all rounder. Big enough to do a days work. Easy to work on. Small enough to store and take to shows. Perfect little collectors combine.
Hi folks 🎉 well done found another 👏
Yes near my parents house. It was here all my life and never knew about it.
Hi folks 🎉 that brings back memories 🎉 nice 👍
Good chap, these combines bring back memories of summer days gone by
My dad used to drive a 10ft Allis with perkins p6...... Happy days 😊
Excellent
You need it spray welded and machined to size
We did take it to an engineers local. They said it can be done but we decided to use one out of a donner to save money. Its there if we ever need it
your doing a good job with combines
Thanks mate.
Guarantee that whatever you throw in the scrap mate...you'll need 3 weeks later !!!
Mate, i know only because you remembered throwing it away. Otherwise you wouldn't know you had it. Im gonna have a tidy up at least.
Sometimes you gotta follow your heart, must start my NH 1530 tomorrow, the plate at the bottom of the feeder house is worn and needs replacing!
Are you planning to use it this time?
Its nice to look back at this. I couldn't have been happier with the end result. After many hours and 2 seasons the C works extremely well.
My father Fox this Massey Harris in México me help to him on 1964 on lombardia Michoacán for recolección of rice on this time i help to My fathers is so meny beutiful thanks for this video i temember huen are joung boy
Hi Richard, that Claeys was an interesting find (in the first initial shots I thought it was New Holland/Clayson ---- (they took over Claeys in 1967 I think), going by the colour), we've had a few of the later (and bigger) New Hollands through (we have a part dismantled 103, no engine but most of the chassis and header (12 or 14 foot cut can't remember without going to look) including belts and pulleys if someone decides to save that machine), they along with Laverda/Fiat Agri are very popular in Asian/African countries as they are mechanical not hydraulic or electronic so easily repairable and these places love that they have Ford, Perkins or Iveco mechanical diesels that are cheap and easy to rebuild/repair. The Bamford markings you found on the Claeys was probably because Bamfords were major combine dealers (they also sold Laverda/Fiat agri --- our main bread & butter export business) and in later years they offered all the above in enclosed cab forms with the cabs being built for them by Cabcraft.
Yes Bamford bought Allis Chalmers Uk. That was when Gleaners finished in Uk. I definitely prefer the older kit
Good video Richard. I remember one of those in the middle of a field near Corfe Castle. Needless to say it has been moved on now. Have you got plans for your Gleaners this summer? It'll be good to see some videos of them in action again
Yes hoping to get a couple on the go soon.
Be a good parts machine for someone, engine is probably salvageable - hopefully not much water has got inside (pipe missing off the intake manifold). Great seeing what is still laying around and have been forgotten. Happy Birthday for later in the week!
Yes always worth saving what parts you can if you have space. Thanks for the birthday wishes pal.
Glad you found it mate...i have always liked the Claeys combines as farmer in village who dad worked for ran an M103 for a number of years, rare to find the smaller M80...shame that one couldn't be saved.
Everything is possible but unfortunately this one is way past economic repair. Im glad you like.
Hi Richard. Good to hear from you again. We had a 63 Bamford Claeys m103 and also a 64 which was badged as a Bamford Clayson m103. Ours both had Ford 6 cylinder engines and were 10 foot cut. The fuel tank was on the near side. This machine you have found looks smaller( m80?). The rear panels on the 63 machine was embossed from the inside on our machine. I can’t remember about the 64 machine. I did drive it in 65 and 66 harvest. It was a good machine with high output for the time and very reliable. Two of us used to cut 6-700 acres and our land was quite spread out in separate blocks so there was quite a lot of roadwork. The 64 machine had lights and indicators. They didn’t use much fuel and would run for about 10 hours on 27 gallons of diesel!
Very interesting thanks.
Brilliant find Richard, good to see you back posting..
Yes its good to find something interesting
A Drake futura de hoje é Andrei cantiga entende você me amasse você tinha uma gripe que ano é essa máquina aí
Its actually the same engine in a 285 and 2100, just different fuel pump settings. (same with 262 and 272) There are other option diferences on the tractor but you can easily turn a 285 into a 2100 by recalibrating the injection pump.Brilliant engines in thier day, and very sweet runners with exellent low down torque, but stronger than the 10 speed transmission
You changed number mate

Good to see you back, I used one of those Jones balers years ago, I thought it was good but I'm a JD baler fan. Look after yourself.
Good to hear from you again. There a lot of those Allis versions around here in cow country back in the 70s. I personally have collected up several old balers in my collection. Back when I had horses and cattle we baled a lot and I frequently used the early ones for amusement. After I couldn't get any help for that, I reluctantly went to the big rounds just so I could get the hay up.
Well done pal. Im hoping to have a go at an old jones of MH701 baler one day. Hopefully show some lads how they work. Need to work them out myself though first.
Nice to see you again Richard.
Good stuff mate.
Good to see you back Richard.
Thanks pal
It’s good to have you back Richard. Look after yourself. Thanks for taking the time to post this video.
Yes my friend. Good to hear from you
It sounds like the 3 cylinder did. I loved our leylands. A shame we had to let them all go
They are nice, very but were underrated, considering. This one is a 6 cylinder.
Why did you get rid of them?
Wonder why self propelled balers never took off?
I wondered that myself. I guess its that fact that you can look back and see it feeding in but with a combine you can't see it from the tractor
@@rbharvesters7404 But then Combines started out being trailed before becoming self-propelled. How long before the wheel doth turn and they become trailed again albeit for smaller acreages?
@09amusement well yes perhaps one day we will need horses again
@@rbharvesters7404 Can't use horses because they fart too much and destroy the Ozone!!!!!! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

Nice to see the old machines running!
my brother bought that morris minor hahaha it ran and he sold it after a few weeks ha
