  • Saturday 13th of January 2024. last one for a while chaps. have a good year all. I will see you again at some point. don't fail to message me with questions and ideas for the channel and i will get back to you soon as i get chance.
A big thank you to all my viewers. its been a fun few years. as i say just having a break for the next few months 🙃. Combines will remain close to my heart. i have no plans to stop the channel altogether but i will have a think over this next year about how i can further the channel while still remaining true to the original R B Harvesters ethos of Classic combines.
hopefully next year some sort of project. who knows what the future holds but lets make sure its a good future.

B ack when those units were new, here, they weren't painted on the tinwork, just left in the galvanized coating. The frame and structural steel were black. The Gleaner line was a good seller, along with Massey at the time. Wasn't until the Rotary machines came out that IHC and Deere took the lead. The Gleaner always had the price advantage, as it was a no frills build. The smaller model E gleaner was a real popular machine here. It was also the last machine that the small family farmers were able to buy new! The prices went out of reach after that and you just cannot afford to even look at any new buy machines for any but the big time corporate farms! We had an early A, I put many a weary day in on it. Those really needed a cab on them as the dust that came up from the front mounted threshing cylinder was too much. The Gleaner and the Massey were the first to have a quick detachable change header on them, that was a big seller here in corn and soybean farming. My old Deere 55 had a changeable corn head, but it took most of the day to change, where as the Gleaner only took a hour or so. It seemed that the Gleaner I had was always broke down in the field, my brother always claimed driving rights to it, I bought a Deere 55 so as to keep a machine going. I never had any real issues with the 55. I blamed the Gleaner for the down time, but when I later upgraded to a pair of IHC 403s the same thing. My brother always was broke down, and I gave him the better machine to run, the one I ran never had issues. Came to the obvious conclusion it was the driver that tore up the thing! So I got fed up and ended our farming together arrangement! A move I never regretted.

Yes don't let any fool on your old combine. They either can't understand or don't care. Gleaner detachable headers were an early good thing

I know it takes a lot of effort to make these videos. And not every one will be a best seller, but I for one always enjoy your efforts. My son also does a few for his very small channel, ( Farm Haus) It's always a struggle to justify the work to come up with new material. I didn't realize that you had that many Gleaners! Your really lucky to have inside storage for them, that's a big thing here as some of my machines have to sit out in the elements! Always wanted to build more sheds but the county taxes are too high. All the best to you in your efforts, I still keep watching your videos, take care.

Do you know what i tend to just share what i enjoy doing. I e combines and vintage harvest stuff. If people like it and watch it then good and if they don't well i still had a good time doing the videos.

In the end what ever we do we will always have people who maybe critical of what your doing. More especially if your doing well.
The main thing i get from all this is enjoyment and i have met some good people along the way.
I know some folk absolutely love see the my combines at work.

I do want to do something different in future in the sense of something a little deeper like maybe a full restoration of a Gleaner. Or another combine like an Allis Chalmers 5000 or Massey Ferguson 510 overhaul.
I think i have exhausted the amount i can do with my current machines. Although im very happy with whats been achieved.
