Our favourite anchorage in ALL of Mexico! | Sailing Sitka Ep 131
มุมมอง 2.9K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
Zihuatanejo happened to be our favourite anchorage in all of Mexico! We spent alittle over two weeks puttering around the town, exploring, eating good food and enjoying everything that Zihua had to offer. The town was clean and safe, the beaches were beautiful white sand and the nightlife was always bumping with bars and karaoke. We didn't film much here but what we did film we wanted to share,...

You guys are really killing it! Episodes keep getting better and better! Now Nicaragua is on my bucket list!
I still love to seeing the dolphins 🐬!!!!
Kenna, you are so right: I bought my first tiny sailboat for 250 euro when I was completely pissed. No sailing experience. However, the first time I set the sails and turned the engine off......that feel got me hooked. And Jay, you are very right as well: predict wind and windy simply do not work. They both are based on models supplied by others. So, you can't blame them. We, humans, simply do not understand weather, climate and nature. What I normally do is ask local fishermen.......they know what's coming without help from the internet.
Come to Costa Rica and don’t forget your money 💰. Great episode but my tummy is still woozy and I wasn’t even on Sitka. I absolutely love this new intro you have Kenna!!! It pumps you up for each episode ❤⛵️
Ok… that one didn’t look fun…. Hopefully your next passage will be better❤️❤️🤘🏿🏴☠️
Yeah, it seems the fees in Central America and the prices in Mexico are more than what many imagine. I think your next country south is not any cheaper or easier. Costa Rico may be a bear but then, Panama should make it all worth it ! Nice rainy video; well, from my perspective ! Ha Take care you guys and carry on........
Oh Kenna, I feel for you. Wobbly anchorages are the norm in Central America, I hope you can find some relief. All part of the adventure, hang in there, it’s absolutely beautiful here. We may be ships that pass in the night, as we are heading back up to the northern tip of Costa Rica. May you find calm seas with favourable winds on your journey.
ASMR, wind water and dolphins!!! Nice drone shots, way to go Nick!
Glad you enjoyed Mario 🥰⛵️ Thanks for the love and support!
Great episode , things definitely got wet.
Yes sir🥲🌧
No friggin' way!!! What an adventure!!!
Right!!! Thanks Mario 😌
How bout some BIKINI HULAHOOPING up in here?
UMMM THIS WAS THE COOLEST ADVENTURE EVER ????! We were smiling so much watching you guys ride down. I’m so happy you are experiencing these life changing memories💚
Thanks so much soulmate 🥹❤️ it was the best adventure yet
The deeper you go into the tropics, that heavy rain will become a regular thing. Green jungle = rain. Chase the leaks while you can and whenever one rears its ugly head.
We are starting the learn this 😩
Poor Nic has to row! 😂🥰 love you guys
😂 we love and miss you!!!
Volcano surfing!!! Awesome 😎
Thank you so much!! It was great fun 🤩
I don’t think that’s the problem Nick 🫵 🫤
It isn’t what it isn’t.
You’re boat is sinking 😢
I know 😂😂 This rain is so crazy!!! We’ve never had these leaks before but here they show themselves as the rain is torrential! Thanks for watching 🤩⛵️
NO WATER MAKER ? 🫵 🤪
Sadly no 😂 it’s on our list!!!
It isn’t what it isn’t. 🫵 😵💫
You got all skinned up didn’t ya! 😢
Great video guys ! You know in my younger dumber days when I was in the Navy, I drank, drank, drank a lot, lot lot ! So, when walking back to the ship as the sun was coming up, all of us were like "gonna stay onboard tonight, not drinking", but then, about 2 or 3 in the afternoon, everybody was like "OK, lets go out and have maybe 1 or 2 beers" Yeah, right !!! That never worked ! Hey, your sailing and port visits and volcano-boarding remind me, as far as we know, ya only have one life to live.......may as well live it ! Take care you guys, including Nico !
Thank you So much Randy 🥰 Jay relates highly to your stories as it was the same for him in his Navy days! 😂 Thanks for watching as per usual, and we appreciate your comments and love as per usual!!!
We did the Cerro Negro Volcano Toboggan in 2009. You're lucky it was windy because those big flying bugs at the top were chasing everyone around. It was a good incentive to get on the toboggan. Amazing trip! Loved Leon as well!
NO WAY 😂 That’s crazy! Yes it was a fantastic experience!
😂 little to much to drink
Yes 😂😂😂
So so good!!! I’ll have to watch this one a couple times. I think I would have peed half way down that Volcano 🌋 🙈
Can't drank
Love watching you guys sliding down the volcano hill look dirty but fun love you guys ❤🎉 and the pud crawling looks like fun I can drink so I like it when others do it for me ❤🎉
Thank you Paul for watching and sharing the kind words 😌⛵️ Appreciate it!
Awesome episode!
THANK YOU!
Great video!! Welcome to Central America!!
This is a great show and I love watching you guys ❤🎉
Woohoo!! Thank you for watching and for being here with us along for the adventure 😌⛵️
7-8min mark, your narration and stunning shots made magic. So real, so authentic...amazing job guys at bringing the value
Thank you very much! That’s such a kind comment, leaves us wanting to create more. Appreciate it ⛵️
You guys rock! the new season has begun, i figured there would be a huge delay in your new videos. doesnt seem to be that way.! VERY NICE!!!!!
No delays ever!!! You can count on it 🤩 142 Sundays straight and not planning on missing any, hopefully! Fingers crossed!
Just so you know, for when you become an adult, putting your hand in front of the camera is for pre-teens. Possibly stretching to a 15 year old. Definitely not beyond that. Unless, is your target audience in the 10-12 year old demographic? Or did you need to take the blue bus to school and wear a helmet the whole day?
@@goatman3828 I hope you find happiness in these difficult times you seem to be experiencing🤙
Says the dude whose username is “goatman” 💀
@sailingavocet Have a goat farm. I raise goats. The name isn't much of a stretch. And doesn't change the fact that some people act like children thinking the fad from 5 years ago is somehow cute.
@@goatman3828aren’t you a miserable prick
@@goatman3828 Maybe you should go tend to your herd since you are so bent out of shape over a silly little transition in a video. I would rather act like a child having FUN than a cranky old man who has nothing to do besides pick on people on the internet and insinuate that people are mentally challenged. Now THAT is some pure irony.
Awesome episode. Voice overs are fantastic. Appreciate all the work u are putting into this. Still waiting for some surf 🏄🏽♂️ content as u go by so many good spot. Haha. Get on it. 😜
Thanks a ton guys!! 😄
Sadly the weather hasn’t been the best in Central America this far, and sadly most of the good anchorages are far from the good surf . Hopefully this weather switch’s for us soon 😊
Love this video. I think you are getting better. Looking forward to all these same feelings and well of course catching up in the spring.
Thank you Alex! Miss you bro
Great episode, and yes, usually by day 3 you are back on your feet after sea sickness. Glad you enjoy the new anchorages..!!
@@sailingsjofagel Thats usually how long it takes Kenna , sadly most passages are 3 days and under 😂
Hurricane John dumped a massive amount of water in the sate of Oaxaca and Guerrero, just north-west of where Sitka sailed out of, a couple of weeks before you headed to Nicaragua. That might explain all the plastic seen out of Puerto Chiapas? Again, an excellent episode! I appreciate the few teasers put on Facebook, from the different activities done while visiting.
@@mariocharette140 That would make a lot of sense . The plastic sighting always lined up with a River mouth dumping itself in the ocean. Thank you Mario , hope everything is going great on your end .
Congratulations on this incredible feat! I'm looking forward to witnessing this exiting new adventure with you.
Thank you so much!
Nick i can see your massive 🍒 from Vancouver. I would not go in the water for anything 😂😅
Awsome camera upgrade! Can't wait for this season!!!

Well, I've said it before and, I'll say it again. I'm so happy for you guys to live life on your terms and at your ages. You have done so well and I know days are not always easy but, I do believe the really good days make up for those drastically bad days ! And, Sitka looks really good ! Great video and you are significantly south ! It's nice to have a third hand onboard. As you might be able to tell, I'm very excited for you. Please do not try to cheat on Mother Nature because you can not beat her ! Just be careful and sail smartly as you have thus far. Keep Jay's garage alive and Kenna's poetry coming at us ! Take care you guys......
@@user-retsailor Thank you so much for the kind words. We are extremely grateful to be able to experience this at our age. The highs definitely out weight the lows in this lifestyle, sometimes it is good to to remind ourselves of that during prolonged low periods 😊
Try eating strong dill pickles to help with sea sickness
This actually worked for me when we sailed down the Oregon coast!! Unfortunately pickles are a hard find down here or a certain expensive find 😂 Thanks for watching!
Beginning around 28:32 Kenna had such a look of pride, describing the arrival... Well earned, guys! It certainly looked cinematic, with volcanos thrusting up from the mists. Can't wait to do that! Until then I'm adventuring through your TH-cam, so thanks for that.
She definitely did 😊 thank you for watching and we appreciate the comment. Can’t wait to share an anchorage down the road .
Now that was an awesome episode!! Great job you guys. Nico the bravest of them all!!! 😮 That’s a hell No for me!
@@dawnshine7491 haha yeah definitely happy he volunteered to go in . He then immediately regretted it 😂
You made it! No good to sail off at 40-45 degrees and beat into that headwind? Take to long?
@@Sv_SeaDuctress If we didn’t have a time constraint for entering the River it would of definitely been better to just sail and tack our way there.
Well done, it's great to see you well on the way to Panama and onward to the Caribbean. E Take care and destroy those waves.
@@johndavidson6867 Thank you , it feels good to be putting those miles under the keel once again .
