This is an oily rag restoration channel featuring vintage tools and equipment. There will also be small engined machines and any other things I can get my hands on, this may include vehicles or related items. I also tinker with vintage, and some more .odern, airguns.I'm an amateur and will be doing the restorations as a hobby, videos are not intended to be tutorial or instructional,.

I'd been after one of these for a while and found one at a half decent price on Ebay. Unfortunately it had seen better days.

I think the croc bite was the first blood, shed in the bloodshed since you revamped the logo! 😊😊😊
I've not spilled much claret for a long time now, long may it last🤞🏻
thanks mate! just need it cheers I will use it as remote for my subwoofer. ;)
Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Great video Alex! The stove looks great! Were you able to buy a proper wick for that, or did you make one yourself? Even if it won't heat a kettle in a timely fashion, it may help take the edge off the cold in your shed. How is your new job working out?
@@timeflysintheshop Hi there, how you keeping? It was a 4" wick off Ebay, about the only thing you can still get for these stoves. I will give it another go at boiling a kettle and maybe time it. We've got so used to things doing what we want, when we want, that sometimes it's good sit sit back a wait. The jobs going OK, thanks, I think it'll tick all the boxes for the time being.
@Bloodshed.restorations I am keeping as well as I can. We went out and got our Christmas tree yesterday. Are fresh cut Christmas trees a thing over there? We finally found the piston we needed for tne 1977 YZ250 on Ebay and got the cylinder bored. My son really wanted to take it to his friends birthday event to ride it at the farm. He got it put together, but did not have time to tune it. While tuning it there, he lost the idle screw so it would not run properly. The father of his friend let him ride his modern 250 and my son crashed it! Neither he nor the bike were totally wrecked, but both damaged. My son was able to ride it back, but he and the bike will need some work! We got a second dog. I would really rather simplifymy life at this point, but my wife seems intent to keep complicating it!
We've got several fresh tree farms around the area but we still with an artificial, pre-lit tree in our house, I used to get fed up of putting the lights on. Sounds like it could have been worse for your lad, hope he gets over it quickly. Look forward to seeing the bike once its up and running, I've got to get round to sorting my bikes out at some point and hope to get at least one roadworthy at some point in ths next decade or so😁. Take it easy👍🏻
Did the stove mess with the croc? It looks like he took a bite out of the funnel! 😊😊
I wouldn't put anything past that chap! I've got good hopes for the JB weld repair though🤞🏻
Thank you so much, it worked perfectly!
@@la973 Thanks for watching, nice to know that there's another cat out there wagging it's tail!😁
I enjoyed seeing the four notches cut into the butt stock. When I was a kid in the sixties those notches were to keep track of how many sparrows we had shot
I was wondering what they were for as it hasn't enough power to main or destroy! It's a good bit of unknown history though, don't think the local pests have much to worry about!😁
Does it matter which fuse in the fuse box I choose to use?
@@mrvinson1 I wouldn't use one that's important, power steering, abs etc. I used the one for the cigarette lighter as I didn't have an unused live fuse.
Need to feed the croc more often! That is the coolest little stove - nice work on the repairs 👍 I like to boiled linseed oil heat treatment, I'll have to keep that one in mind.
@@MattsGarage1791 he's a temperamental little chap but I've learned my lesson now! It's the first time I've used heat and linseed oil, it has a nice colour to it, hope it lasts.
Very Nice Alex! That is a cool little stove and will come in handy during your next crippling 1/2 in snow storm! I was surprised to see Crocky is a biter. He seems so sweet..😂 Seriously great video and that stove really is fantastic! Take it easy Buddy!
@@Uwannawatch I'm almost praying for a downfall again, just so I can get my log burner and this stove going. If the crocs not careful, he'll be the first on the grill. The shed is my domain!!!😁
That looks great Alex. Now i have to have one! I'm not sure I'll be very successful in aquiring one here in the United States😂 I was wondering how you were going to fix that big hole. Let us all know how that patch works. My dad used to use JB Weld on rusty exhaust systems on his car so it should work well on your little stove.
@@ivanstiles7030 thanks mate, I did wonder how good a repair it would, guess only time will tell. I showed my parents a photo of it and they said they'd never heard of them, they're in the 80's! It'll sit proudly in the shed, hopefully increasing in value, and dust of course😁
A very cool stove Alex. Will you be taking that with you when you go camping? Or you can always brew up a cup in the shop. Good job.
@@Dalesworkshop Hi Dale, I did think about taking it on a camping trip but I'm trying to fit a double gas stove into the van at the moment, think it will remain in the shed fornthe foreseeable.

Thanks 👍🏻
You put a longer barrel on it and you won’t have a problem with the co2 cap
That's then idea, if I can get hold of one 👍🏻
Blimey! I had both of those in my early teens.
They certainly took me back in time, only seems like yesterday! Thanks for watching 👍🏻
I'm voting for the reflector......poor little guy got mixed up with all those dark rusty souls and gets no credit. 4:22
Thought I'd find a like minded reflector fan out there somewhere, tried to be discrete about it but guess I was not discrete enough! I'll display it in the shed, keep an eye out for it 😁👍🏻
@@Bloodshed.restorations ...CatEye
That was a good haul of future projects! Why did you change your logo?
@@timeflysintheshop hi, how you keeping? It's a good question, wasn't really happy with the old one and I've felt like a change, also changed my shed workbench around (needed doing) and my job too. Think I'm going through a "phase" at the moment 😁
@Bloodshed.restorations Well, I am keeping one day at a time. These are worriesome times for me. Thanks for asking. We all need some change from time to time. Changing jobs takes more than a bit of courage. How is it working out for you so far? What are you doing now? Hmmm let me guess. Motorcycle mechanic? :)
@@timeflysintheshop nothing to do with bikes, unfortunately. I start on Tuesday and it's a "washroom service driver", basically driving around changing air freshers, bins etc in washrooms. It's about the only job I can really do because of the dodgy back! Much more local, less hours and less responsibility🤞🏻
@Bloodshed.restorations It sounds like a low stress job which sounds great to me! Though low stress jobs usually don't pay very well over here. I hope it works out well for you. There is a company here in the USA called Cintas which our company uses for several services. One of the services it to maintain our first aid cabinets. A guy comes in once a week and checks the cabinets to see what needs replaced/refilled and he keeps the stuff topped up from a supply in his vehicle. I assume he has a regular route which has him stopping at specific locations each day of the week. The service is a contract so the guy does not need to sell anything and the stuff he handles is all very lightweight; pills, bandages(plasters to you), & he checks to see if the batteries are still good in the AED's. If your new job does not work out, maybe you could find something like that? Good luck! Hang in there! Keep doing what feels most rewarding.
@Bloodshed.restorations Hey Alex, I don't know if you live relatively close to any of the other UK tool guys, but have you considered meeting up with one of them? You could just visit and make a sort of collaborative video by filming a visit to their shop/shed. Or go to a car boot sale together, or a museum related to industrial history or something. The UK is so much smaller than here, it feels like you must live less than an hours drive from someone like Reggyontheroad, The tool addict, Everythings adjustable, etc... I know Reggy is a motorhead too, you guys could have a good time if you can handle his Wales accent! :)
Ha - thanks Dad! So first thing you drop on the bench are two wood handled rusty hammers - two of my favorites! Plus wood handled rusty saws - keeps getting better! Plan on cutting dovetail joints? Thanks for the pronunciation guide too ( aluminum )! That first pair of long handle tin snips is also really nice. 👍
@@MattsGarage1791 that ball peen will look great with a good clean up. I'm working on my American English but don't feel i can commit full time to it and won't give up drinking cups of tea just yet. I've not got a peen hammer that big so I better find somewhere good to display it.
@Bloodshed.restorations haha, don't change a thing! workshop space seems to be an international issue!
That's gtseat Alex, I wish I could have salvaged my dad's tools. You will be busy for a while cleaning those up. Looking forward to the videos. Have a good week.
@@Dalesworkshop Hi, I've been clearing out the shed and fitting a new work top, getting ready for the new projects. Have a good one yourself, my friend.
Nice collection The tin snips with the blue paint are probably Gilbow made in England
@@xlfive thanks, I've got a few Gilbow ones already and thought the same because of the colour. Couldn't find and names on them but they're all due a good clean up.
Nice haul Alex, You picks for favorite are the same as mine. I like how you saved that S wrench for last. Kept me hanging ! Good try on pronouncing aluminum 😅. Take care Buddy!
Cheers, I was never any good at learning foreign languages but I'll get there😂. That wrench is going to get a good clean up soon, once I've fitted a new workbench top! It's never ending. Have a good weekend 👍🏻
Great job Alex, Love this project 🔨👍😊
@@Everythings_Adjustable thanks, good to hear from you, hope your keeping well 👍🏻
I'm good thanks Mate, just busy 👍
@Everythings_Adjustable know the feeling well👍🏻
Great description of what's needed to be done, thank you.
Glad you found it useful, thanks for watching 👍🏻
Use blue lock tight on the scope mount and but up one against the breech so it can't move they work well.💯😉👍🫡✌️
@@josephsaucedo8691 hi, yes, I noticed that the original bolts have thread lock on them, I'm going ro do this when I've finally got round to fitting all of the accessories and it's completed, when ever that may be. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Great restoration Alex. You did a jam up job on the seat. Every one needs a stool in the shop. Great video.
@@Dalesworkshop cheers, my friend, life in the shed has been more comfortable since andc I've had many a cup of tea sat on it.
Nice Alex! You know seriously the old tools do work best for restoring old things. I use them all the time especially for furniture they just fit better. Very enjoyable video! I was so happy to see ya on Instagram! Take care Buddy!
I've got a go to wooden handled Stanley Philips that get use all the time. It was the wife's idea to go Instagram, I still can't work it out properly!
@@Bloodshed.restorations Ya it's a little tricky but if you want look through my list so you can find all of our buddies. It won't take long until you get the hang of it. You gotta post Crocky!
@Uwannawatch don't want him to feel left out😁
Vintage restorations require vintage tools! haha - worn sanding discs just become another softer grit, eventually becoming cardboard for polishing! Boiled linseed oil - the choice of those who care. The step stool with upgrades looks fantastic. Thumbs up for creativity!
@@MattsGarage1791 cheers, it's become my most useful project so far, I think. Have to be comfortable in the shed and give the old legs a break 😁
Okay subscribed 👍😉🇳🇱 you need some buck rail items to make it cooler .
Cheers, yes love their accessories, would become pricey very quickly, would look good though. Particularly like the stocks👌🏻
@ we here are maybe lucky. Buck rail is working on getting a selling point on mainland Europe . I have also one a little bit modified . Have a great evening
Great idea to make the step dual function
@@xlfive thanks, born out of necessity with my dodgy back! It's one of the most used things in my shed. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
I have been an ardent fan of the 2240, and the 1377 for years. I have customised, and tinkered with a lot of them. Spending a lot of money. The last one I have has an 18 inch barrel, mated to a GMAC multi shot breech. Sadly no longer available. However, I have just purchased a PP700W. Folding stock fitted and a silencer adaptor. Weaver rail convertor with a Sytong HT60 fitted. The 2240 now rests in the loft.
I had to got and check out the pp700w and it looks and sounds like a great bit of kit. I've got a few more mods planned for this, when I get time to do them, and it's turning out to be a lot of fun to work on. I've only just for back into guns, even thought I've used them in work (pest control) for the lasy 20 years, and can't believe how much has changed in the gun world! Thanks for watching 👍🏻
I spent just over a £1000 blinging up my 2240….🫤
That'll be a bit above my budget but I do like the ability to customise these little guns. Did you get it gold plated? 😁👍🏻
@ 🤣 chrome plated and polished on the trigger frame, main tube, barrel and steel breech, stainless steel cnc’d trigger and safety, custom stock from Martin Hird (Hirdhawks) stainless bolt upgrade etc etc it’s a shame I can’t post pictures here🤷♂️ I think you’d like it😉
@AdamMcCool-01 sounds amazing, I have been looking for a longer barrel but they seem to be like hens teeth at the moment. Try not to compare my efforts too much! 😁
@ try the Airgun Forum, you’ll have to get interactive and post 50 times before they let you on the sales section but I guarantee you’ll find one there. Do you have a TH-cam email so I can contact you?
@@AdamMcCool-01 cheers, there's an email in my channel description 👍🏻
Right around the 460 fps stock rating.🤠🇺🇸
Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Do they allow you all in the EU to add a steel breech and a longer barrel?
Yes, it can be done, we just have to be careful about power output etc. Adding a longer barrel and the stock would allow it to go over the 6ft/lb power that an air pistol can produce. I think the minimum length for a rifle in the UK is 600mm, including a 300mm barrel.
@@Bloodshed.restorations be very very careful brother the barrel must be over 12 inches and the overall length must be more than 24 inches to be deemed to be a rifle, however, if the gun was originally manufactured as a pistol ( like the 2240) I’d be keeping it below 6 ft/lb otherwise you do run the risk of a section 5 offence….. 5 years mandatory!🫣
@@AdamMcCool-01 yes I'm not planning on going over the limit, hence why I'm keeping my chronograph very handy, and my disclaimer. I'll be testing any upgrades I do with a new CO2 cannister too, no point getting a higher power on a half used cannister. Thanks for watching, appreciate it👍🏻
where did you get the tool for lining up the combro
It came with the chronograph, saves a lot of time of adjustment Thanks for watching 👍🏻
I have the same pistol i added the stock a steel breach extended bolt ,treaded treaded the back cap put a bolt to add more pressure on the on valve.and a 16 inch barrel works great and to look good a mussel brake
Not allowed silencers of any kind in canada...stupid
They're fun guns to upgrade, I've got more plans ahead for it, helps that the gun was given to me by my dad but still spent a bit on it already! Could get expensive for a project.
Always surprises me with some of the laws that come out, always best to be careful with guns, that's why I'm using a chronograph, especially with filming it. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
You can put a ruger mk2 in that chassis
Would need a lot of paperwork for one of those in the UK, unfortunately.
now that's a fine looking Crossman! love the shoulder stock.
It's turning out to be a nice project, forgotten how much I love tinkering with airguns, along with other things.
That's a fine air pistol Alex. I thank that is the first Silencer I have seen on a pellet gun. Very cool. You have several of those, do you collect them?
@@Dalesworkshop my dad has been getting rid of his airguns because he's getting on a bit and not able to cope as well. I keep buying things that he wants to sell! Think I've got 10 pistols and rifles now, picked up a box of old tools from him today so that's a video for another time
@@Bloodshed.restorations looking forward to that video.
Thanks for this! I did this and my clock is now working again after nearly 2 years of no movement at all! 🎉
@@BernadetteBones-u9t thanks for watching, mine stopped again after a few weeks, cleaned it again and it's still going strong.
Man that gun was used for sure! nice video!
Cheers, it had definitely seen better days! It was a fun project and is taking a well earned retirement now.

Laser tools do a winder clip removal tool, £9 👍 The van's looking rather taisty chap 👍
@@Dirt-Diggler thanks, I never knew that, they really are a pain. £9 sounds like a good investment, it's slowly getting there but I'm loving every minute of ownership.
In Spain at the mo', Alex, with limited data allowance. I'll watch the video in full upon my return...no doubt I'll pick up more useful tidbits from you😉. Looking a bit Ska from what I've seen thus far. Night Carry from the Midlands - One bonnet beyond, ha ha.
Enjoy yourself over there, hopefully there's no rain in Spain! See what you mean about the Ska look, purely coincidental😁
@@Bloodshed.restorationsProphetic words, Alex. I was in Calpe, Costa Blanca, during the storms that devastated the region surrounding (but not including) the wife and I. Now in Valencia where, sadly, the area very close by was devastated. About Project Lemon: did you buy the wee cottages in your kitchenette from St. Ives? I'm planning on a seashore/sailing theme for mine....dreckley! One strip of checkered wrap looks good, Alex. Put two on and I think it'll resemble a stumpy lass wearing wide-legged trousers 😂😳🤭
P. S. I found WiFi!
@@kinhelfa I got the cottages from the Mousehole shop, in Mousehole surprisingly enough. Glad to hear your both OK but can't have been a pleasant experience for you or anyone in those areas! Our house has pictures and all sorts to remind us of Cornwall, the wife says she wants her ashes scattered in St Ives Harbour so I'm off to buy the largest incinerator I can find to make her wish come true😂
Nifty setup Alex! ( Directions are for beginners )! 😁
@@MattsGarage1791 cheers, sometimes it's better to.learn by our mistakes! 😁
Ooo, Alex, you've got me all excited about this add-on! I was sorry to hear about the lurgie and your cancelled trip, but equally glad to hear that you are both recovered. I was expecting the awning to be fitted to the rear of the van, but sideways entry & exit works for me. Have you attempted attaching it over the rear hatch/door? I'm looking forward to seeing further videos of it in use, with accompanying walk-around video from a distance, to better appreciate the extra space it affords you. Nice one, matey (m8y)! It's always good seeing your updates.
@@kinhelfa cheers mate, I did toy with the idea of a hatch awning and am keeping an eye out for a cheap one. I did get a cheap roof box too and that's just getting filled up with crap that was in the van😁 I've been doing some long overdue interior design on it at the moment so I've got another video coming out soon, it's just getting a dry day to do it all in! The vans just a mess at the moment but it's slowly getting there. It's proving to be very reliable so far, hence the lack of videos!
I like it. I wish I had something like that when I use to camp while trout fishing. That's a good addition you will enjoy it.
@@Dalesworkshop on my own, I'd be happy just in the van but with two, it makes more sense. We're hoping to get some cheap breaks by the coast next year🤞🏻
That's a posh accessory. Looks like it'll make your trips a bit more comfortable. I was thinking of getting one for my truck. for fishing trips. I think you just sold me on getting one.
@@Uwannawatch I must say, it will definitely make trips easier, shame we didn't get to use it but the wife was right, it wouldn't have been nice going, feeling as rough as we did. I just hope she doesn't read this, I'd never hear the last of it, admitting she was right about something!😁
Good work 🥰👍
@@fix_old thank you kindly 👍🏻
The levels all came out beautiful! Someday I'll find one of those brass topped levels that seem so common in the UK, but fetch a hefty price over here.
Could be a good business opportunity there😁. I think they look great after a good clean up, I'm not far from Birmingham so I guess that's why there's quite a few around here, lucky me!
Woohoo!! I just fixed my beloved KitKat ! This saved me $60 ! Thank u
Glad it helped, ours has been wagging its tail for months after a good clean.
I really like fixing air rifles. Once you get down the basics, they all use the same mechanisms, so it's really easy to fix them. However, CO2 guns give me a hard time with the seal that seals the CO2. I like your cat!
@@gboutdoors5198 cheers, same here, I won't touch PCPs, I did a strip down on an SMK QB78 a good few years ago and it was shockingly bad internally, rough edges everywhere, took me a few hours to get it cleaned up and running smoothly. @Bloodshed.restorations I love cats they are soo funny! I have to learn how a PCP works; it's a bit more complicated than a multi-pump BB gun lol!
