Alex that is a thing of beauty right there! Love how the wood turned up! It's always awesome when you can find something you want at a good price. Love that sound of a good working plane! Take care!
Cheers, I'm more than a little pleased with how it turned out. The fact that it's now a usable tools is even better. Just goes to prove, a good tool is a good tool no matter how old it is 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing how you went about restoration. I have a load of old woodworking tools that I have collected over the years with the intention of bringing them back to life. Back to life? Well, I don't think I'll be using them for the purpose intended, more to keep as a collection. Don't ask me why. I think in part it's an acknowldegement of old craft skills, a time when so much more was done using hand tools.
I absolutely agree with you, these are the tools of craftsmen and deserve to be kept, whether we use them or not. Most of mine don't get used in all honesty, this will be the exception though but I won't use it too much. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Mr. James at Time Flys was right - Good Stuff here! The plane churned out nice slivers...like butter! and the little BB gun was a nice video - the trigger guard came out nice and looks great on it...
Thanks for coming over, been watching your channel for a while now too. The plane is one of the most enjoyable tools I've worked on for a long time, just feels so nice to use.
I got the feeling that if had been looked after over the years, I like to think it will be going into semi retirement now. To end up with a quality tool for around £5 has got to be a positive!
Great job of restoration, I like how you did not sand the hell out of it and brought back a nice "Patina" as the saying goes. thanks for sharing, ECF.
Thanks, I decided that this was going to be a sympathetic restoration. I just didn't want to take the history away from it. 👍🏻
You turned a humdrum old tool into a real BEAUTY! Nicely done! 👍😀😎
I'm still surprised how little needed doing and all of my fingers are still in place 😁👍🏻
@@Bloodshed.restorations when you were sharpening the blade I started to wonder if the shed was going to demand a blood sacrifice! 😀😄🤣😆🤣😄😉
It's biding it's time for a big pay out!

That one will be around another hundred years. It looks great and works great. Good find and good treasure.

Missing an antique coffin plane in my collection. Tastefully restored!
Thanks, its a lovely tool to use too. It's definitely been looked after over the years and now it takes pride of place in my shed.
