What brand and name of stripper did you use during the 20+ years you worked as a custodian? I used Spartan Emulsifier Plus, Betco Ax-It and Diversey Pro Strip

When I worked the night shift for the Supermarket I am currently employed at I learned how to take care of the floors and was such a satisfying job. I know what you mean about not wanting to do a Chemical Strip unfortunately that is how its still done today with our company only to save time..

Very good advice. I’m always accommodating if somebody walks up to me with a good attitude. I treat people like I want to be treated, and I expect the same in return. I’ve never really understood why in the public school systems The attitude and demeanor towards custodians can be so bad sometimes. We’re all human and we have a role to play and we need to be team members and not work against each other.

Why dont you guys use regular sanitaire commercial grade vacuums?

In daily cleaning you get much better results if you use a flat microfibre mop system and a doubble bucket. One Side you rinse the dirt out of the microfibere mop or pad and the other side you pick up clean solution. So the water stays clean for a longer time and a flat mop system picks up more dirt, then the classic wet mop.

That floor looks better now. I work at a elementary school and I used to do a chemical scrub on cvt flooring. The smell of it gave me a headache. But after cleaning it and all. It looked good.

Did I hear him say 2 hours for 1st Coat. He needs to be fired LO. L. I've been doing floors for over 40 years. Floor. has Not been done in several years. There's no way I would have not chemically stripped that. There's a time in place. There's a time and a place for those 3 m's. floor..

Thank you Jeff for the tutorial. We’re having our asbestos hallways, two classrooms, main office, and faculty room being tore up at the moment. They’re being replaced with Lvt flooring. I just hope they’re scratch resistant.

High school I work at is getting a imop, it’s basically a hand held floor scrubber. Has brushes instead of a pad, check them out they are interesting. not cheap of course.

I feel this pain 😅 it's summer here at our high school I'm moving furniture, deep cleaning restrooms, classrooms and buffing floors after the people wax all for 12 an hour we start at 4am and finish our shift at 5pm it definitely sucks but got to keep going

It will be messed up in 3 hours anyway life of a custodian all that hard work for nothing 😂😂

Just got a head Custodian job at a new school that has LVT floors. What type of pad do you use on your auto scrubber for daily use?

So we use white vinegar clean the windows at the request of the school. Have you used vinegar to clean windows before and do you think of it as effective?

I do this everyday in a factory i work in except i use a kaivac machine to clean the bathrooms. I really love that thing ❤️

Nice! Real nice! I’m working with an old crew that only believes in wet removal of wax, using stripper and mopping up the stuff. Along with using a wet vacuum. Lots of work as you know. I have asked them to try the square scrub method… no way they said. 🫤 honestly I would love to try it. I think it would be much better.

We have one and we don't like it. Stripper is the only thing we use...

I recently applied for a custodian job at a high school. Still waiting to hear back. Hoping I get the job!

I am using a red pad a backer pad then the SSP pad. If I switch to a white pad will there be any difference in taking off the wax ? Also I will flip the SPP pad after I do the room, then us the new side and do the room again. Most of the time I will us a small floor machine after the edges are done. One pass with the water on two the flipping the pad and no water on. Also I will use a squeegee on the edges to bring the water out. Then use the floor machine to pick up the water.

i live in NJ. ive been very fortunate but life has been hard. My friend works at a very wealthy town high school pay is pretty good. Actually, its incredible. for 2 years ive been trying to get a job there. Well im happy to say July 1st 2024 i start as a full time custodian 2 years and 4 different interviews later an i finally got the job. Im so grateful. last year i made 39k before taxes thjats with a butt load of overtime. im starting at 55k and ill be apart of NJEA. IM FUCKING SET!

Well, love that small little machine there… love to have one! Hopefully I can get my school to order one. I have to say the price I saw on this thing was way overpriced for myself. One what I make. But boy I want one!

I sell stripper and chemicals but i tell everyone if you've got your arms around your floors (meaning you don't have 30 coats of finish on the floor) this is exactly how i would want to scrub and recoat my floors every year. Just showed this method today at a school district and refinished with ishine from Spartan. Then i took them into their bathroom with clean by peroxy and a turf pad on this unit. Oh boy did we have a nice slurry going lol. Great work keep it up!

It’s really handy in the bathroom stalls getting around and behind the toilets.
