So Many Needs!

When someone ask you to do something, when they are not your boss. How do you react to that? Being a custodian sometimes can make you feel like you are being took advantage of. In today’s video Mr. Jeff The Custodian will be share from his experience. On how he deals with people that are not the boss. That ask for things to be done.
I have been a custodian for over 23 years. The purpose of this channel is to share some of my knowledge with you. I remember the feeling when I first became a custodian. I was given a set of keys, a radio and a badge. Didn't get any training whatsoever. Being a custodian is not rocket scientist knowledge. There are definitely things that a custodian needs to know. Extremely good advice. I have faced so many issues like this. It can be very frustrating when everybody thinks they are your boss. It actually can drive someone insane.

Very good advice. I’m always accommodating if somebody walks up to me with a good attitude. I treat people like I want to be treated, and I expect the same in return. I’ve never really understood why in the public school systems The attitude and demeanor towards custodians can be so bad sometimes. We’re all human and we have a role to play and we need to be team members and not work against each other.

If I'm asked to do things outwith my remit, i'll usually oblige as long as it doesn't take me away from my own job and it's within reason. There's always that one person who works to rule and makes everyone else look lazy.

I subbed at an elementary school one time and noticed the sign on the engineer's (head custodian) door said Jeff so I walked into his office and said "Hey Jeff I love your videos man!!' He got a kick out of that and said he watches your videos as well lol

It is hard when there are others assigned to do a job and don't do it. They ask you because they like you. I have had to tell them it is the head custodian's job duties and they make alot more to do what you are asking me to do. We can change schools every 7 months and there are 200 schools if it becomes a problem for me. I am on my 3rd school now.
