Very good advice, with your knowledge, attitude and integrity you would be a great lead, supervisor, etc. I was a supervisor for state agency for over 17 years and retired had some challenging days, but never a bad day. Decided to go back to work part time for a school district. I was totally unprepared for it. No leader ship no professionalism and definitely no safety procedures in place, it’s like you’re thrown on a battlefield and every man for himself. School districts can be challenging if you’re in it to set goals and push forward. I sure hope it’s not that way in all school districts. I hope it’s not.
Jeff i pretty much got started at 59, ran a delivery routes in Missouri And Illinois for a undercar distributor for 28 years . I hope to make this my final stop. Im n the fastest but i steadily work and just kind of hammer away it until its done, I just recently found you on TH-cam and your videos are very informative and helpful, thank you!
Im definitely in enemy mode with my principal. Im a lead at an elementary school. I wont go into detail, but a new bill passed about gates always having to be manned when ajar. My day porter is for lack of a better word worthless. And is only kept around because of nepotism. My principal pulled one of my full time guys off of night to pick up the day slack, and sticks me at a gate to play security guard for the first 3 hours of my day for dismissal. And to "let the teachers out so they're not inconvenienced by the combination lock". I only have two other guys. Ive been teaming them up while i have to do my gate duty and just cutting them loose. Then fill in the cracks when i can finally lock up and actually do the job i was hired to do. Mind you, I'm out in the southern heat for those 3 hours prior to even starting my tasks. By the end of that, I'm already beat. I have no union. Idk what to do. My other two guys are fed up with the arrangement. And rightfully so. Im afraid my principal is going to run them off into the transfer portal and I'm going to get stuck by myself. Sorry for rambling on. Your video just struck lots of chords with me. Especially the last part about just do your areas and to heck with everything else. I just hope something gives soon with this whole thing. I cant continue to do this job if the principal is going to leave me both understaffed AND wasting 3 hours of my day playing security guard. Im absolutely worn out both mentally and physically
That’s a tuff one. If they under staff you. Set you a pass and let it go. Put you some good music on and get and the gate duty. Ask them if you can have badge.
Thanks a lot for the videos Jeff I am also a custodian at a school I've transferred around over the years and did multiple positions but probably a custodian the most off and on from the early nineties and oh boy look where we are now so like you I don't know if I got 6 to 10 but maybe another 3 to 5:00 anyway and I agree and I'm glad that you're out there putting this information for other people because a videos like this that just let him know that other people have been in the same situation they're in or are and I think it's just a good thing to give people a good perspective and focus so anyway without rambling on on you more too late for that lol thanks again Jeff keep up the good work
