1977: The same year as Star Wars and Annie Hall.

I too have been semi-obsessed with this film for years. It encapsulates the 1970s perfectly in many aspects. I was fortunate enough to find a rare dvd copy as well as the glittering soundtrack on lp. I read the book and delved into researching the original case. Have always felt this was Diane Keaton’s best work as an actress and that THIS is the movie that should have landed her the 1977 Oscar. The final 10 or so minutes of the movie are among the most terrifying and effective ever, imho. This movie did for promiscuous women what Fatal Attraction did for cheating husbands. I was too young to see this movie in 77 (hard R rating), but I can only imagine the reaction of theater goers had they not known what was coming.

Buster was such a prince treating Billie the way he did. His Friends were such "B@tches!" because he put her instead of them. In movies I've seen over the years guys who get upset and jealous when a Girl comes into their Friend's life.

I saw Buster and Billie on TV in 1983 and I was mesmerized by it. It was also the same time when the song “Every Breathe You Take” from the Police came in to popularity. I identified that song with this movie and to this day whenever I hear it, it reminds me of Buster looking for Billie in the rain.

A little about a week ago, I was talking with a Co Worker where he talked about how Beyonce had a Country Album that went to Number one and how she was the "first" Black Woman to do it. I corrected him and reminded him of Charley Pride, The Pointer Sisters being pioneers and how they played The Grand Ole Opry. I loved this movie too. I saw it when I was eight years old. I also loved The Lords Of Flatbush, and Cooley High from 1975.

Great film! Seen it dozens of times. Was my late father’s favorite movie. The video rental place he found it at (and frequently rented it from) back in the late 80s / early 90s eventually sold the VHS to him, as their records showed my dad was the only person that ever rented it!

But that is changing now, Because the world is tired of the lie and bigotry from white men ….. It’s the truth!!!!! And all of white America knows it!!!!!! And you still wondering why January 6 happened,,,,, They where tired of there own creative lies……. Remember!!! They came up with something new since everyone got tired of it…. Answer!!!!! Create different lies!!!!!!! Never fairness.. This women was a victim to a system that use to work for no one BUT the WHITEMAN.. And guess what…. It’s true this is happening everyday…. If white men don’t feel smart they want you to dum your self down to make them feel good about themselves… You’ll know it’s true!!!! Every body on the planet know it’s true…. Checkmate… Never hold yourself back because of someone’s insecurities…. Keep it moving and do what GOD put you here for .Everyone has a purpose…….and no one can take that away…..

Funnily enough, yesterday I was meeting a friend for dinner on 72nd St and walked past the building where the real murder took place and the bar where she met her killer (right across the street from her apartment.)

She is an incredible artist! How awful she had to hide her talent and work under her husband Walter's name.
