I'm sorry but this mania about "daylight bright" or "Red dot bright" is missed placed. I want an LPVO where the reticle can be seen at 1X without any illumination ( like when batteries and electronics fail). That means an SFP reticle up till 8X. 10X or higher can utilized FFP reticles I only need illumination in an LVPO in dark areas or when low light situations present themselves.
@@TreborUSCG I think I make a similar point towards the end of the video
@@compulsivegunbuyer Indeed you do. My comment wasn't directed to you, but in my reading of the comments by others below.
This is great info. I’d also love to see some testing from the other side. How visible is an uncapped scope/flashlight vs a capped one? Not sure how you’d do that though.
Very cool video idea!
Thank you so much for making this video. It is excellent! If you do any future experiments, maybe have your friend from previous videos in camouflage on the other side of the shore to see if that 13% light loss makes a difference in target ID.
I guess the thing is to see how far, and at what angle, one can actually see a reflection from the glass. I think the caps also allow you to look into the direction of the sun without the image wiping out.
I'd love to see you use gimp or photo shop to do a break down with color and do it on lower light conditions as well. Using hex codes for color would also give you more granularity.
@@sliderofelay this wasn't autistic enough for you?
insanely cool method, really havent decided what the answer is for me, but this helps. If you have a scope with a traditional metal screen it'd be interesting to directly compare it to the OHC screen
@MedicalTape_xX that would be neat and I'm pretty sure there is one for the vcog.
I imagine the difference is even more pronounced under night vision (when kill flash screens are used over red dots)
@ozarkman291 the nice thing about OHC kill flashes is that they can be easily removed, at least for the scopes. I haven't played around with their red dot options.
Iv taken all my caps off my guns. I get them but i run vampires and clicking to ir and back is easier with out the cap
@@Jasonz1919 vampires are sweet
This is some advanced autism but still thanks for putting numbers on it! Please do the same for other brands / designs as they come out, thanks!
if you over torqued it or didn't push on the nut to loosen it maybe... ???
You're absolutely right. Replacement screws are a good idea. Personally, I just grind or file down screws if I have clearance issues with the gas block, then cold blue the end of the screw to protect the exposed metal.
Where is this made?
@Loss8131 not exactly sure. @zbolt_e_optics can you answer this?
Great work with the eyebox cardboard test! This gives way more information than any other comparision from other guntubers.
Shit pisses me off, that’s one of the thing that makes me regret Mlok sometimes
At least it's an easy fix. Nothing wrong with the t-nut hardware, but it is odd that the standard screw is so long.
It's funny because I grind all mine down. Even if you have clearance the barrel also moves so you need max clearance
Isn't this the same as the overbore swvl?
@mikewazowski8013 great question! Bobro has a similar mount as well, but ours has a few key differences compared to the competition: 1) Ours is compatible with surefire pro mounts, so you can buy only the adapter if you already have a pro mount. 2) Our design brings the pivot point close to the rail (compare it to the overbore design), which tends to allow for a greater number of viable positions. 3) Ours should come in at a slightly lower price point.
@@compulsivegunbuyerbringing the pivot point closer to the rail limits movement.. so that’s false. That’s why I bought theirs with a modlite and dropped the SF pro.
@younggun62369 my friend, you are welcome to buy whatever flashlight mount you prefer
They got some nice ones on Amazon
Just get a new one they're cheap
So I''m less than one minute into your video and you start by weighing one scope with an attached mount against one without a mount ???? REALLY???????
@texasdiver3171 just read the annotations...you're not the first to make the comment and won't be the last, but it's all done fairly
sci fi ahh noise
Dude this is exciting! Best of luck on the launch! Solid price point and a good idea in general. Can't wait!
Is that the Potomac?
@@boombaamboom5 nope
mmm hmm, I'd wear just enuf to hide my heater too, if i had them creamy haunches.
Umm...is this a come-on? 'Cause I'm happily married.
I would love for this Light Mount to be the first Product Review on my channel! If you’re interested in sending me one for a review, let me know. I’ll send it back once the video is done. I had a similar idea about a year ago but I have no experience or knowledge with making a product come to life. Good work gentlemen! Keep it up.
@Zehynx Hi boss, thanks for the interest. DM me on Instagram.
Can't wait for it to come out. Wish it used Torx screws for everything instead of allen heads though.
@GldenRetriever Can't wait to get it to you! I tend to like torx screws as well, but in this case, I think I prefer the hex.
Slip a screw driver between the plastic and bolt while unscrewing the screw and it should come off.
@mparamo68 great idea but I ripped it off with brute force about a year ago.
This might not be a GT "review", but it's a hell of a lot more informative.
@touge242 too kind. If you go back and watch old GT videos, they are remarkably informative too! Even his new educational content is pretty fantastic.
Very helpful info - thanks From my experience, it would be nice to be able to lockout the top 20% of magnicication from variable optics because the eyebox becomes so finicky
im just gonna say it. if the plxc had the reticle and illum from the nx8...i wouldnt even look at another optic...ever. i hate pa's reticles and illum...
my water made the iconic sound and I can’t recreate it :(
Over torqued or a fake pair. Where did you buy them? Most fakes don’t have the yellow locktight on the bolt.
Idk, man. That lens on the VCOG would have to be pretty dusty to wash out the image like that. Did you ever clean the lens and do a second filming, even just for your own confirmation on the comparison?
I've filmed with the vcog at this locational and it looks similar. It's definitely washed out in this shot but otherwise pretty true. I think the crispness and chromatic aberrations were not affected. You can actually compare it to my other 1-6 comparison video with just the vcog and raptor and decide for yourself.
@@compulsivegunbuyer ill definitely look back and check it out. I will say, for an optic from Trijicon and how expensive it is, I expect better. It should not look washed out.
I bought the slx 1-8 raptor before these novas came out. Now i really want to trade over to this.
Raptor and Nova are the reticle name, the optic is the SLX with different gens hope this helps
@XLOGIC-LLC In the video, I use Raptor and NOVA as nicknames for the scopes.
@@compulsivegunbuyer I understand but I designed the reticles, lol you’re giving them a bad name JK 😂 love the videos bro keep em coming! -Dimitri
Would be nice if you developed a more quantitative scoring method to evaluate glass clarity. Too much subjective/qualitative factors come into play. Also, why the evaluation at such a long distance? Why not something a bit closer (like 200 yds) for a 1x6 LPVO? In reality who could really engage a target at 600 yds with a 1x6?🤷♂️
Sounds like you are describing more of a resolution test under lab conditions, which I agree would be helpful, and there are official resolution charts I could use for that kind of test. The problem is that a quantitative fact like that is pretty abstract. I want to show you what things look like in situations similar to the scope's intended use--and no one is going to use a scope to stare at a resolution chart. That's why I like showing people through various scopes at various distances. The side-by-side cuts down on some of the subjectiveness, but you are correct that there are still far too many uncontrolled factors to make it a scientific test. But hopefully it serves as a helpful data point for a prospective buyer/user.
Any plans to do the Tango MSR?
@MedicalTape_xX not at the moment, but I'll think about it
How long does it take you to film through one scope, remount your camera and film through another scope? It looks as though these weren't even filmed on the same day or even from the same exact location pointing in the same exact Direction.
I could check the exact timestamps but estimating here: the switch takes less than 5 minutes, and the whole thing was filmed between 10am and noon on a sunny day. The clouds in the distance make it look darker than it was.
Keep up the great work. Definitely would be cool to see the plxc nova added to the mix.

Definitely believe it is a "purpose driven" decision 🤔 For "shorties" I like a 2.26 height RDS primary with a FTC magnifier: no secondary - For "GPR" (13.7~16") I like 1.93 1-6x SFP "RDS bright" LPVO: mRDS secondary not "needed", but definitely not putting one up in a 12 o'clock orbit above an already high mount 😂 If running a secondary, it's definitely going to be offset! - 18~24" SPR/PRS will be running a MPVO or long range primary around 1.5" off the deck. In this instance, a 1x secondary at the 12 o'clock position is ideal.
@davidhartley6232 this is sort of where I've end up as well...only issue is trying to train to adequate proficiency with three different settups (all with multiple optics), but I haven't found a one size fits all that I'm satisfied with.
I can't believe how much fun I have with mine. I've had dozens of guns over the past 2+ decades, and this was a game changer. After more practice, the Flux will be our home defense setup. Room to room is far easier than my 300blk.
@@meee175 it is surprisingly handy
Interesting. My brace has never not deployed. I also don't slam it closed by hitting it. I just press it in with the palm of my hand.
Would you say also that the more you pay, the better eye relief youll get? I want to try a lpvo but as a dynamic shooter, i keep hearing that eye relief is weird
No, there is not a direct relation between price and eye relief. How eye relief is balanced with the rest of the feature set will ultimately be a design decision. With LPVOs it's all about balancing features, even when money is no object.
The older nx8 retical was honestly terrible. But the new retical is fantastic.
Good video. Drop the sound track. People are good with silence.
@jonathanbrookshire4915 Thanks! I've fixed/removed the music in my newer content.
I love the Chevron!!! It’s the easiest reticle to acquire
