@@compulsivegunbuyer I wouldn't feel bad about your Magpul bipod. Let's not forget that the go-to for US govt. consumption is either a grip pod or a Harris. Hell, the French army uses a B&T poly Bipod for their HK416s, and it's no more than a Magpul or Harris. Anyone poo pooing your Magpul is being a gate keeping elitist (above commenter not included, as he's being funny and gets it). B&T's Atlas is amazing, and it should be at three times the price. Everything else is just overkill unless you are using it for a heavyweight rifle with a full rifle caliber's worth of recoil. You can spend as much as a Glock handgun on a Bipod if You're so inclined.
The scar 17 will run forever if you stay away from shooting alot of 308 ammo as opposed to 7.62x51 buy a spare buffer plate in back of the recoil spring and recoil assembly firing pin and a spare piston and if you run a can make sure it has low back pressure use paint pins to mark the rear screws for the rear back plate and every 500rds or so check the torque on the barrel screws borka makes a torque wrench for it high desert dog and mid west gun works have spare parts fn wont sell you any do not switch the stock especially to a kdg i have broken a bolt a lower a piston and the rear back plate twice it is a good gun but if you shoot alot these things will save you alot of money and headaches 17s is accurate and reliable just doesnt like alot of 308 winchester and cans Nice set ups and video keep em comin
How has the reliability been for you? I have tried 6.5 grendel in the past with concerning results. I'm sure with enough tinkering I could get it running, but it pushed me back to the tried and true cartridges.
@@compulsivegunbuyer once you set the rifle up properly, no issues. With my build initially the barrel extension had the slightest bit of overhang and I would get random FTF. It would have been a non issue with 556/308. I pulled the barrel and used shims to get the alignment perfect and now it's running like a champ. At 500yds it's already shooting 0.5mils flatter than my 308(18" 108gr 6arc vs 20" 175gr 308). The gap opens up to 1.5mils at 1000.
I personally think 18" and 20" longer range 556 builds are fun. You don't typically worry about weight and have a shit ton of rail space. I personally built a 18" SPR lite and a 20" SPR heavy. The 18" has a SS 416R fluted barrel, BCM MCMR rail, ACS stock, Trijicon Credo 1-8 with offset RDS and is a lighter set up with a magpul bipod. My 20" has a HBAR Criterion, Geissele MK4 rail, PRS stock, Athlon 2-12 with offset RDS and an Accu-Tac FC-4 bipod. They're definitely not my main squeeze carbines but they are extremely accurate, reliable and were fun to build and pick parts for.
Weight on the Scar is one of the reasons its pretty awesome. I love my LR-308, but those things get retartedly heavy if your not parts conscious. Mines roughly in the neighborhood of your scar weight wise.
Yeah that played a huge role in my decision to buy the Scar. I asked the guy behind the counter if I could hold it and was shocked by how light it felt. The weight piles on quickly once you start accessorizing, but it is still one of the lightest guns for its utility.
It's is an accessible and relatively affordable ammo to stock pile and is a better general purpose round than 55gr fmj. It's common enough, so your dope sheet will still apply when you run out of your own ammo and have to start "borrowing".
@@compulsivegunbuyer What makes it better to you, out of curiosity? The only thing it's better at is barrier penetration, and maybe closer ballistics to more duty use ammo, with it being at a disadvantage against 55gr for everything else
@@wolfgang_h3t more penetration, better ballistics, and general availability make a pretty convincing argument to me. Did you see garand thumb's recent video shooting ballistic dummies with various ar and ak rounds?
@@compulsivegunbuyerthought green tip was guilty of ice picking? 55gr was notorious for being amazing out of a 20 in barrel due to being unstable when hitting a target.
i have plan to buy 2.5-10x44 acss griffin for my ar 20", have front sight gas block yhm and rear a.r.m.s., if you want backup standard position sight you must buy quick release mount or like geissele mount with emissary development R2-0.

Good content and lots of valid points. Thought something was retarded with your guns till I realized it was mirrored😂 I tend to ditch the bipod for the scar and spr’s, patrol with a pack and shoot off it if needed. I like the pmm medium rail for the scar, long enough without being more then you need. The super scar trigger is $230 on primary arms right now- worth it Keep the videos coming, good stuff!
Careful, I've been warned that the magpul bipod is the mark of a rank amateur. I still don't know why though.
I mean, that basically checks out in my case; "rank" is a little harsh though.

20 round mag gang 😩👌 Aesthetics are important! Nice builds 😎

Today we answer the question: Can a gun video take off if the opening montage doesn't include a single shot fired?
Video evidence of manufacturer marketing at its finest
I think I'm supposed to be hurt by this, but I don't understand it enough to know how.
I have an irrational hatred of exposed gas tubes (not gas blocks).
I get that
Man, really glad I found this channel.
As am I!
Split the difference with a gas 6mm arc. Yes the ammo is too expensive but minus that glaring issue 6arc is awesome

everyone says they can shoot 800 yards with their SPR right up until the wind starts blowing again. .3 BC ain't it.
No arguments here
Scalerworks do make a new mount for a offset reddot
Offset yes, but not top mounted to my knowledge

What “QD” do you have on the Harris that you attached to your scar??
It's the sling swivel stud attachment method.
Great video, keep on with the good info
Thanks, friend

Because I filmed it on my cellphone in selfie mode. Haven't bitten the bullet yet for a more professional setup.
