Join me on my real life TH-cam journey with drones and video editing...
DRONES! DJI Mini 3 Pro, Mini 4 Pro, Air 3, and Avata 2 (when I can get a spotter! 🙄) + some basic video editing - what have they all got in common? Keywords to get in the beginning of your channel description for SEO.... apparently....
If you're reading this then I've obviously sparked your curiosity, so go ahead and hit that subscribe button, and join me every couple of weeks for a stroll down DJI Boulevard - if it's our first date, I promise no funny stuff, I'll just stick to hand holding 😂
A combination of vlog / how do I? / tips and tricks / reviews and 'learn along with me' type stuff (and learn from my mistakes!), but always centred around the drone hobby.
Rather than me being the font of all knowledge, let's learn together and have a bit of a laugh along the way.
I know what I know, but I'm too old to know everything! 😉 🚁
Fly safe, fly happy, fly my pretties, fly! (Bit odd, but that's just me!)

At night on a M4P I Use the Aux Light as a VLOS Tool at night I have mine on a C button. For night flight 🤙🏻
Yeh - that’s a really good suggestion! I wonder what the difference in battery life is - aux light vs the extra few grams of a strobe light… 🤔 Thanks for watching! 🖖
@@amoktimeflies the difference is modified vs not and I can see the aux light at the max legal distance and height just fine. Modified as you say in the video means A1 and A2CofC required. Nobody needs it if they simply use the Aux Light. 🤷🏻♂️
Ah - yes of course! good point! 🖖
Congrats my friend. Very nice. Liked. All the best for you.
Thankyou Tabadrone, and thanks for watching!🖖
You got a subscriber! Gonna try this tomorrow 🙏

Great video,You should have cut your grass tho before it rained.
@@MatthewJohn-g2o thank you mate - grass is all cut now (believe me I was SOOO shamed into it 😂 😂 😂) 🖖
Great video! I've been thinking about getting one of these since the first Avata came out but what's been holding me back is the fact that I'm very nearsighted and I've had my doubts I woule be able to see anything in those goggles without contact lenses which I've stopped using in my older age. Could you please talk us through how these lenses in the goggles work and if I could even see anything with my poor eyesight?
Thankyou for your kind comment.... and I feel your pain... Well.... I have to say I'm no expert and it was a bit of a 'hit and hope' to be brutally honest. I'm both near and far sighted and have astigmatism. God knows how the science works on it, but they do supply a set of lenses that that you put in the goggles that help to focus the image if you wear glasses. I have to crank them to the max focussing setting and luckily that works for me. That said - there is help at hand - if you find that you need a more specific prescription for them - this will help : honsvr.com/product/prescription-lenses-for-dji-goggles-2-dji-avata/ - extra £50 for perfect vision in them doesn't seem a lot to shell out really given the cost of the rest of the gear!. All the best! 🖖
@@amoktimeflies Wow, that is pretty wild that you can get your prescription lensens ordered! 😀 Thank you for replying, I will wait for the next Avata 2 sale as I just ordered the Air 3💸💸💸
@@bunkermagnus very nice - Air 3 in Sport mode is also surprisingly rapid! 🖖
Really enjoy your take on the Mini 4 Pro
Thank you Wallybee! Really wanted to use it on this shoot, but as I had the Air 3 in the bag as well and it was a bit windy, just thought - why not!? All the best..🖖
Hi there! Thanks for your great content. I've used the night mode last night for the first time and did a slow turn around in my neighborhood like you did. ISO 12800 with 1/30 second shutter speed was selected automatically by the night mode for a 4K 30fps and my altitude was around 65 meters. Found out that a lot of noise has been introduced in the video compared to yours and maybe that's because of the altitude. However, have you done more night flying since and are you still confident that the night mode is better than using manual settings?
Hey Topper (you have your Father’s eyes 😂) I tend to fly at a fair height in my neighbourhood so as not to worry people. I do have another night video planned soon, so will try comparing some different settings though.. Thanks for the suggestion! 🖖
love watching your videos you have a great since of humour keep them coming
Thankyou matey! Went a bit crazy recently so cadence will probably be down to about 1 every 2 weeks - I'm sure of all people you know how much work it takes in editing though! All the best! 🖖
It’s unclear to me what you are doing when you bring in the drone for the battery swap … What is the step by step process to send it back up , pull up the saved waypoint mission, turn off the waypoint , they go into hyperlapse Thanks
Hey Clifford - thanks for watching… So - take off, click on the waypoints icon on the left of the screen, and then where the waypoint stuff comes up at the bottom of the screen, click on the 3 dots then the piece of paper icon. Select the last waypoint mission in the screen that comes up, then hit ‘go’. Once the drone has reached position exit out of waypoints by clicking on the waypoints icon again at the left side of the screen. Then set up your hyperlapse. Alternatively you can just use the waypoints option within the hyperlapse function which to be honest is probably the simpler way to do it! 🖖
@@amoktimeflies The later part .. can that flight mission be saved so that when I bring it up the drone will go back to the same place? And will all of the parameters be locked in as well or will those have to be manually set ?
Yep - if you use the waypoints option withing the hyperlapse function that will be saved as well - so you can take off, select hyperlapse -> waypoints and you should see a ‘paper’ icon there where you can select the previous hyperlapse with all the same settings… (As I said in the intro - I just make things really hard for myself 😂)🖖
Can't believe that story about you becoming best friends with Sean Connery! what a wild experience...
🤣 yeh - that was the photo of him when it happened! 😂 😂 😂 Thanks for watching! 🖖
So if I was to wear some ND filters over my eyes, for example whilst driving, would the world be more pleasing to my eyes?
😂 yes - it is a bit tricky, but I find sellotaping them to your face seems to do the trick! 🤣 thanks for watching! 🖖
What kind of an editing programme do you use?
Hey Peter - thanks for watching - link for Davinci Resolve is in the pinned comment at the top 🔝 👍🖖
Just hope you don't get as fat as Johnny Rotton😅 Always original my friend! Glad Freewell sent you the filters because they know your very knowledgeable on drones!!👌🖖
🤣 Too late! 😂 🤣 😂 Thanks as always for your kind words, Paul! 🖖
These mini drones are a lot of fun. I would recommend anyone get one and enjoy it. You will love it. It is a wee bit pricey but once you get it you got it, it's worth the saving and the fun factor is through the roof. It doesn't matter what you fly, be it an avata 2 or mini 4 pro which are the 2 I own, or some other brand or type of drone it is as long as you have one you need to fly it.
💯 agree! Brilliant fun! 🖖
I also have the Landscape Series GND by Freewell. Great for photography. Following from, Mendoza, Argentina.
Thanks for watching Luis - I am in the market for a new hybrid camera, so your recommendation is very welcome! Cheers!🖖

Wow, thanks Ian! - glad you enjoyed it! 🖖
great video 👍
Thankyou! 🖖
Looks like Freewell noticed that your channel is and will growing faster than you think! 📈 Which Freewell filter would you recommend for a beginner if you had to pick just one?
Thank Ian - If I could literally have only one then for the Air 3 it would probably be the PL/ND 64 - I really liked the saturation effect it had. For the Mini 3 and 4 pro + the Avata 2 probably the ND 32. Thanks for watching! 🛩️🖖
So sucking up to these companies works 🤣👏👏👏 good to know!! That being said this is a great review!!👍👍🐈⬛🐾🐝🍻👍
Thankyou so much Chris 👍Just bear in mind - 3 x 15 hours days making the vid + *many* miles covered for some of that footage. So my hourly rate based on the value of the filters was probably less than efficient! 😂 Good thing I enjoy the process and genuinely admire the products! All the best 🖖

Hello there. Tried it the way you described. When the waypoints are set and I want to enter the hyperlapse thing my M4pro says "Can't enter the hyperlapse as long as you plan your waypoint-stuff". Sorry for my English. What is wrong with me???
No worries bud - I've got you covered! It's probably simpler to create a way point hyperlapse with 2 points that are basically in the same place. That way you can also save that to repeat several times. If you DO use the waypoints method as shown you just need to exit that waypoints mission *then* set up your hyperlapse. The waypoints mission is purely there to 'mark the spot' that you were in before. Hope that helps and sorry for any confusion! 🖖
@@amoktimeflies Thx for the answer...now I know what went wrong. I'll go outside now to test it although I'm quite sure that not ending the waypoint mission was the mistake that caused the whole desaster. Again: Thank you!!!
No Worries - just make sure to click on the waypoints icon on the left hand side of the screen to come out of it before you start your hyperlapse (I've slept on it - I think that is probably what was happening!) Good Luck! 🖖
Nice thx for this
My pleasure 😊 Thanks for watching!🖖
Whoa Love this channel. Btw can i ask what are the ND filter that are essentials? I can buy them piece by piece in my country. May i know ur pick on which nd filter would you only use? I dont want to spend alot to get too many nd filter thats i eventually dont need
Thankyou! That’s a very good question - if I could only have one then my pick would be an ND32 - this is my default filter day to day, just because of the mix of weather we have in the UK. If you have mainly very bright days with few clouds I would possibly recommend the ND64 and conversely if you have mainly cloudy days then possibly an ND16. If you live near water then possibly try to find a polarised ND32 as this would help with reflections and also give more of a saturated look to the image of the sky (which some people like). I hope that’s helpful and thanks for watching!🖖
@@amoktimeflies Hi thank you for the reply Just subscribed So just skip nd 6, how about nd 64? Is it an essential? Kinda hard to find n64
I use ND64 on very bright cloudless days in the UK so if your weather is primarily like that then I would try to seek one out. Obviously if you are shooting at dawn or dusk though, you may want to take it off. 🖖 oh - and thanks for the sub!
Why not drop the opacity of the upper clip and align them perfectly? It looks like a guessing for me with the grid. Anyway, great video. (y)
💯Thankyou so much mate! - yeh several people suggested that and its a REALLY good technique - used it in the follow up vid and it's a blimmin' keeper! Ok - thanks for the advice - am I perfect? No… Am I working to be a better person? Also no 😂 Thanks for watching anyway! 🖖
May I ask what number was the NDA Filter you used?
Crikey - that was a while ago. I don’t *think* I had one on, although if I did it would have been my lowest one which would have been ND8. Thanks for watching!🖖
When lining up, why didn't you just use opacity to overlay them u nutter
Hmmm erm... yep - as the Naked Gun quote goes... "Yes of course I realise that.... now...." A few people mentioned that, and I've used it since and it's a game changer- In fact I hope I atoned for my ignorance somewhat in the follow up vid where I completely mashed up joining hyperlapses together 🤣. And I'm sorry - but I have to take umbridge at being called a 'nutter' - 'nerd' maybe, 'idiot' - almost certainly, but 'nutter'? well.... actually to be fair, you may have a point.... 😂 Thanks for watching buddy - all the best! 👍🖖
You're making a point of VLOS, then the drone is over 1300 metres away. No, you can't convince me you can actually spot it at that distance 😂😂😂
OMG! I had to check myself - 1383m actually!. That is amazing! I don't tend to pay that much attention to the telemetry on the screen when flying as I'm so conscious of keeping keeping the drone in VLOS. I can honestly say that I could see it the whole time, but at the same time can 100% understand your comment! - I can only think that with the incredibly clear and cloudless sky and with the sun low and behind me it was just a complete outlier as far as VLOS was concerned! I'm paranoid now that perhaps I was watching a bird or something and not the drone! Need to do some experiments I think - shame days like that in the UK are few and far between... Anyway - thanks for watching! 🖖
This video had me smiling along for the ride, great advice and great humor! What I appreciate most about this - is that you go into the little details most times we forget to take into consideration. Keep on rocking!! 🖖
Kyle (Jason?) - that is a lovely comment to read and has really brightened up my day, thankyou!. I just do what I do, and know what I need to know to do it 🙂. I'm by no means an expert and still have plenty more to learn, but sharing my journey and what I've learnt is kindof what the channel is all about ( + some of the mistakes I've made - and keep bloody making 'FFS!!! PRESS F*****G RECORD, AMOK!!!' ). All the best!🖖
Great vid will have to pop along there for a flight, not far neighbour.😊👌🖖
Thanks Paul! Do keep an eye on restricted flight zones as one does sometimes pop up from time to time literally meters away from the south east side of the hill. 🖖
Nice one. Weak lemon drink! That's where I've been going wrong all this time... 😂 Thank you 👍😃
It’s important…. Definitely important 🤣 Thanks for watching! 🖖
there is a creepy kid on the roof of your neighbors house!!!! RUN
never mind. it was your outdoor umbrella. lol
🤣 🤣 Ah - that explains it! I was worried for a second there! Thanks for watching! 🖖
I really like all the things you checked ✅ before you set out. Great video 👍👍👍 🐈⬛🐾👏🐝
Thanks Chris - it only takes a few minutes, but well worth doing for peace of mind. Cheers! 🖖
That's a great video and the voice over was fab. Well I managed to get my drone in the outside air this week but it was only for a few mins, n nothing special as I was on a caravan park and it being a club site they do not allow drones to be flown from the site. I basically went up to 30 meters and about 50 meters away just across some farm fields, I have to say that it's surprising what you can see by going up only a small hight. also very surprised that you don't have to go very high before you can no longer hear then drone in the air anyhow hope to get some proper footage very soon and upload it for the world to see my master piece ...HAHAHA Been getting lots of ideas from your vids as wel Take care and all the best to you
Thanks Ste - yeh just a bit of fun at the end ;-) And I agree - the only time I really go to 120m is for hyperlapses above my garden cos in the still of the night you can still just about hear it at 120 when it’s overhead. During the day though 50m is about right. Caravan park can’t do anything about it if you don’t take off or land on their property by the way, but always good to be respectful. All the best! 🖖
Now you already can sell the masterpiece documentaries to History Channel! 🤣
That would be nice, although I think they may have some 'constructive feedback' about my editorial style 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for watching buddy! 🖖
