    For more in depth info and comparisons on how ND Filters work watch these - regardless of the drone it still gives some good insight and side by side comparisons....

    Purposefully didn't do a side by side comparison in this vid as despite the fun my editor has with them, sometimes you need to be subjective about these things and only notice a difference when you can see a direct comparison.
    That said if enough people ask for it (and I can keep the Neo in a straight line! 🤣) I'd be happy to do one - so let me know! 🖖

    How to edit footage shot on dji neo in premiere pro? Why not support MP4 / HEVC? Help

    • @amoktimeflies
      @amoktimeflies  วันที่ผ่านมา

      I’m very sorry, but I’m a Davinci Resolve man myself. I’m very surprised that PP doesn’t support h264 mp4 though as it’s an incredibly common codec if not THE most common!
      Perhaps it needs updating or something? If not then find out which codec it does work with and Google for a free transcoding program that can convert your Neo footage to that.
      I would also reach out to the Premiere Pro community on Reddit just to see if anyone’s knows of an obvious solution there. Best of luck and sorry I couldn’t help 😔🖖

    Great video. I think the image quality of the neo is still very poor though. I get it that it’s cheap but surely it’s not a 4k image when if you compare it to the 2.7k mini se 2 the image quality is nowhere near as good

      I agree - but the phone has it's place for the casual user taking quickshots. Will be a game changer if they can get some of those camera controls on the phone only app though, but I suspect DJI want to coax people into buying the RC-N3 (That's what I'd do if it was my business!). Another great video. I’ve been away in the USA just got home at the weekend. Had a short time to play with it. 😮 It’s a fun little gadget for sure ,makes me think,My more expensive. Larger drones might just gather a bit of dust.😢
    And because I’m so lazy probably cannot be bothered to put the filters on ? The thing is they do make a difference I’d say if the Neo is your only drone probably worth picking some up however in my case when I can access more expensive drones to take fancy pants shots that’s where I’m more likely to useND filters.
    I’ll probably only use the Neo literally as a whip out my pocket and see what I get sort of thing(I’m talking about the drone)😂
    Keep up the good work and I must say that’s a cracking spot where you’re flying.
    Glad you didn’t get tangled in the kites behind😂

    • @amoktimeflies
      @amoktimeflies  วันที่ผ่านมา

      Welcome back Ian! Yeh - my bigger ones have been gathering a little dust recently, but they will always be stalwarts of the fleet as there's plenty they can do that the Neo can't.
      The filters are pretty good value at £19.99 a set, so if you do decide to do more with the Neo it hardly breaks the bank (but probably don't bother if you're only flying the auto modes). Freewell have purposely priced them in line with the Neo being a lower priced drone as well, which is nice.
      Oh and they're paragliders and hangliders - so yeh - basically big kites that have just got out of hand 🤣.
      All the best!🖖

    • @ianjones6838
      @ianjones6838 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Actually, that’s very good value. A must buy if it’s your first drone. @ £19.99 .
      I also thought the DJI care refresh @£19 was a bargain as well considering that gives you two drones if you have a mishap.👍
      I don’t normally bother, but as I’m going to let the grandchildren have a try thought it might be a good goodbye drone good value 😂

    • @amoktimeflies
      @amoktimeflies  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thankyou - it is true though - most of these companies send product out and only vaguely hint that they could be featured in a video. I guess there is a bit of quid pro quo there, but there have been times when I’ve been offered absolutely rubbish or an appropriate product and I’ve turned it down as it would just be wasting the time of the viewer.
      Genuine ‘paid’ sponsorship would be the holy grail though. Some people don’t appreciate how much time and cost goes into making these videos (I’m currently looking at an ROI in about 2038 😂).
      Thanks for watching!🖖

    • @SchaufussTV
      @SchaufussTV วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@amoktimeflies absolutely true. I experience the same. The thing is, in Denmark we legally have to add to the video title that it’s a commercial, if we get to keep the products, as it’s considered paid advertising even if it’s a review, which I guess is fair for the consumer, but a bit annoying 🤣 I also get offered review items of crappy products, mainly from China. Unless they have local distribution I always turn them down. So far that’s been all of them 😉

    • @amoktimeflies
      @amoktimeflies  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      It’s a grey area and there is much discussion about what ‘paid’ promotion is. If I’m actually getting sent cash to promote a product and that covers the cost of making the vid and I make a profit from it then I would declare that as ‘paid’ promotion. But for this vid I got sent £40 worth of items, spent 4 hours planning, 3 hours filming and 17 hours editing (yes I need to sort that out! 🤣). So that would put my hourly rate at £1.66 an hour - and that’s not even taking into account the hardware and power used which would put me at a loss…. And then there’s the fact that if I wanted to I could absolutely trash the product… 🤣 So until YT get more specific with their video flags using ‘paid promotion’ for these types of vids just puts the viewer off and I've seen it first hand - not great for a small non-profitable YT channel!
      It’s always an interesting debate though! Thanks!

    Hi just wondering what the reason in manual settings for leaving the iso on auto when you were using the filters and everything else was locked, should I lock it to iso 100 if I can ? tnx

    • @amoktimeflies
      @amoktimeflies  วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Hey - thanks for the question - It's a good one! I don't pretend to be an expert, but I know that ISO 100 *normally* gives the best quality and least noise in the picture, however if the lighting does change significantly then with the ISO on auto it will adjust to give the optimal picture quality based on the other fixed settings.
      I probably leave that one on Auto because it's the one I know least about - even when studying photography in college (and I did pass! 🤣) it was still a bit of a puzzle to me!
      I guess that if worst comes to worst you can still maintain a passable image and if the ISO does fluctuate up to say 500 it will be barely noticeable.
      Thanks for watching and for your question! 🖖

    • @nuthn2do
      @nuthn2do วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@amoktimeflies To get the best out of a ND filter all settings should be manual, including ISO. Otherwise the camera will adjust to the correct exposure so the ND is not as effective (if at all) and noise will be more noticeable because it will ramp up the ISO to compensate.

    from a personal view/opinion and not those necessarily those of my employer, I see no point adding an ND filter to a flying camera which are many many meters above/away from any subject matter where it will move slowly through the frame when viewed later.
    A flying camera which is maybe 20 meters or higher is a completely different prospect to a hand held camera, or on a tripod, where it is closer to the action and can capture motion blur such as your 15 fingers waving in front of your osmo camera.
    ND fliter for a traditional camera = a good idea
    ND filters for a flying camera = a waste of money for capturing motion blur when high in the sky.
    However there is one filter which I just bought for my Mini 4 Pro which I think is worth its weight in gold and actually does make a creative difference to my projects. It is a Mist Filter when filming lights in the evening or sunset environments.
    A mist fliter gives an artistic glow around lights that I feel is a better use of my hard earned pennies.
    My DJI ND filters sit unloved in my camera bag while my Freewell Mist filter has earned its place after its first outing filming the lights and illuminated trams around town.
    I am a massive fan of ND Filters for my cameras and I've spent many many hundreds on them, including a PolarPro Peter McKinnon Variable ND filter which lives on my cameras. But I've learned that ND Filters do nothing for my drone footage other than creating noisy footage because the Shutter speed has reduced and less light has been captured.
    Sorry

    • @amoktimeflies
      @amoktimeflies  วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hey Frank! Good to hear from you! And please don't apologise!
      I think It's horses for courses. I often use my drones for 'close up' and 'low altitude' work where the motion blur does make a difference. When working at altitude, I absolutely agree with you - there is little point, but you kind of get used to it.
      I do like the effect that polarising filters give, but until they work out how to remotely rotate them, they do have limited application.
      From purely the point of most drones having a fixed aperture and limited EV, it does sometimes helps to get to close to underexposed using log (or HLG 😉) in VERY bright conditions so that it can be pulled through in post, but that may not be for beginners (not saying that I'm any sort of expert! 🤣).
      Always appreciate your comments - thankyou! 🖖

    • @frankinblackpool
      @frankinblackpool วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@amoktimeflies See if Freewell will let you review their Snow Mist filter. If they have one for the Neo then there is a good chance it could improve on the image in a pleasing way.
      You can get one for your Osmo and it may or may not add value to your studio setting, depending on if you like the results.
      I don't use mist filters much but when I do, then they really earn their corn.

    • @amoktimeflies
      @amoktimeflies  วันที่ผ่านมา

      @frankinblackpool thanks Frank - I have thought of it and I’m totally on the fence about it, but the question of having it ‘baked in’ vs the flexibilty of ‘doing it in post’ does come to mind - thoughts? 🖖

    • @frankinblackpool
      @frankinblackpool วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@amoktimeflies Yep, it’s a look that you have to commit to from the outset. And you can achieve similar with a Glow node in resolve. But just like a Polerising Filter, if that is the look you are going for, then go for it.
