Hi just wondering what the reason in manual settings for leaving the iso on auto when you were using the filters and everything else was locked, should I lock it to iso 100 if I can ? tnx
Hey - thanks for the question - It's a good one! I don't pretend to be an expert, but I know that ISO 100 *normally* gives the best quality and least noise in the picture, however if the lighting does change significantly then with the ISO on auto it will adjust to give the optimal picture quality based on the other fixed settings. I probably leave that one on Auto because it's the one I know least about - even when studying photography in college (and I did pass! 🤣) it was still a bit of a puzzle to me! I guess that if worst comes to worst you can still maintain a passable image and if the ISO does fluctuate up to say 500 it will be barely noticeable. Thanks for watching and for your question! 🖖
@@amoktimeflies To get the best out of a ND filter all settings should be manual, including ISO. Otherwise the camera will adjust to the correct exposure so the ND is not as effective (if at all) and noise will be more noticeable because it will ramp up the ISO to compensate.

Great video. I think the image quality of the neo is still very poor though. I get it that it’s cheap but surely it’s not a 4k image when if you compare it to the 2.7k mini se 2 the image quality is nowhere near as good
from a personal view/opinion and not those necessarily those of my employer, I see no point adding an ND filter to a flying camera which are many many meters above/away from any subject matter where it will move slowly through the frame when viewed later. A flying camera which is maybe 20 meters or higher is a completely different prospect to a hand held camera, or on a tripod, where it is closer to the action and can capture motion blur such as your 15 fingers waving in front of your osmo camera. ND fliter for a traditional camera = a good idea ND filters for a flying camera = a waste of money for capturing motion blur when high in the sky. However there is one filter which I just bought for my Mini 4 Pro which I think is worth its weight in gold and actually does make a creative difference to my projects. It is a Mist Filter when filming lights in the evening or sunset environments. A mist fliter gives an artistic glow around lights that I feel is a better use of my hard earned pennies. My DJI ND filters sit unloved in my camera bag while my Freewell Mist filter has earned its place after its first outing filming the lights and illuminated trams around town. I am a massive fan of ND Filters for my cameras and I've spent many many hundreds on them, including a PolarPro Peter McKinnon Variable ND filter which lives on my cameras. But I've learned that ND Filters do nothing for my drone footage other than creating noisy footage because the Shutter speed has reduced and less light has been captured. Sorry
Hey Frank! Good to hear from you! And please don't apologise! I think It's horses for courses. I often use my drones for 'close up' and 'low altitude' work where the motion blur does make a difference. When working at altitude, I absolutely agree with you - there is little point, but you kind of get used to it. I do like the effect that polarising filters give, but until they work out how to remotely rotate them, they do have limited application. From purely the point of most drones having a fixed aperture and limited EV, it does sometimes helps to get to close to underexposed using log (or HLG 😉) in VERY bright conditions so that it can be pulled through in post, but that may not be for beginners (not saying that I'm any sort of expert! 🤣). Always appreciate your comments - thankyou! 🖖
@@amoktimeflies See if Freewell will let you review their Snow Mist filter. If they have one for the Neo then there is a good chance it could improve on the image in a pleasing way. You can get one for your Osmo and it may or may not add value to your studio setting, depending on if you like the results. I don't use mist filters much but when I do, then they really earn their corn.
@frankinblackpool thanks Frank - I have thought of it and I’m totally on the fence about it, but the question of having it ‘baked in’ vs the flexibilty of ‘doing it in post’ does come to mind - thoughts? 🖖
@@amoktimeflies Yep, it’s a look that you have to commit to from the outset. And you can achieve similar with a Glow node in resolve. But just like a Polerising Filter, if that is the look you are going for, then go for it. A mist filter never hurt with the TV series Battle Star Galactica.
I’m very sorry, but I’m a Davinci Resolve man myself. I’m very surprised that PP doesn’t support h264 mp4 though as it’s an incredibly common codec if not THE most common! Perhaps it needs updating or something? If not then find out which codec it does work with and Google for a free transcoding program that can convert your Neo footage to that. I would also reach out to the Premiere Pro community on Reddit just to see if anyone’s knows of an obvious solution there. Best of luck and sorry I couldn’t help 😔🖖
I agree - but the phone has it's place for the casual user taking quickshots. Will be a game changer if they can get some of those camera controls on the phone only app though, but I suspect DJI want to coax people into buying the RC-N3 (That's what I'd do if it was my business!). Thanks for watching!🖖
After each individual flight you should have shown all 4 together, each in a corner. And why didn’t you lock ISO as well? I think the NDs made some difference but I don’t like the color change using pol filters. As Neo has a single axis gimbal only, EIS gets very important (similar to any action cam), which unfortunately heavily relies on ultra sharp pictures. So putting on NDs and thus creating less sharp pictures will for sure affect stabilizing as well.
@@amoktimeflies Yes thx a lot! That's a great comparison and surprisingly in your new video I liked the pol filters more. Guess like you mentioned, it depends on the rotation angle.
Well... No.... I have the same less clue as i did before watching.. Cannot tell a thing unless video is side by side... one clip after another looked exactly the same as no direct comparison.. there might have been a significant difference but i have no idea
I have been waiting for this comment, thankyou! This is the point - if one cannot tell the difference is there any point? I have done side by side comparisons before in a couple of videos and whilst it’s interesting (and fun to edit) the question remains - if the image looks ok then is that enough? Thanks again!🖖
@franklinblackpool absolutely nailed it. Finally someone gets it. IF I were to put a ND on a motion camera lens, it would be just to protect the lens (bug, dust, airborne stuff) and with maybe ND 2.
Hmm ok - although on a camera with a fixed aperture, I personally find them quite useful, but I guess the subject is somewhat subjective and dependent on use-case. Thanks for your comment! 🖖

Starbuck - You've converted me - take my money!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🖖
How to edit footage shot on dji neo in premiere pro? Why not support MP4 / HEVC? Help
For nowadays we have to use remote contrôler to use Nd filter, because with phone or autonomous the auto mode is not good enough
I agree - but the phone has it's place for the casual user taking quickshots. Will be a game changer if they can get some of those camera controls on the phone only app though, but I suspect DJI want to coax people into buying the RC-N3 (That's what I'd do if it was my business!). Thanks for watching!🖖
cant ewe just leave that loveley tinted gimbal cover on ?? 🤣🤣🤣
Ewe can, but you’d get some wicked distorted video (he said sheepishly) 🤣 😆 🐑 😂 🖖
Some interesting points thankyou. On the subject of comparisons please see the pinned comment. Thanks for watching 🖖
You can't say I don't listen to my audience! 🤣Here you go - I hope it helps! 🖖

@@amoktimeflies good man... watched it and now we can actually see...
I am here to serve - thankyou for your comments... 👍😉🖖
I was hoping for a split screen for easier comparison. the way you've done it I have to remember a half a dozen options. I'll pass

@franklinblackpool absolutely nailed it.
