Great video. So, you don't put it into manual and adjust the shutter speed etc.? I noticed you were in "Auto" and the EV was 0.0. You can't get much better than that. Many guys would have you use a shutter speed of 1 second and then add a 1000ND filter. I think your way is much simpler and still gets beautiful results. i do love a hyperlapse but a few of mine on the mavic 3 i noticed some weird artifacts kinda gello in the background i think it was the wind and being stationary
Yeh - the wind can sometimes do that - even at the end of the hyperlapse in this vid you might have noticed a slight 'shift' and it wasn't even that breezy as you can tell by the horizon line. Windless days are great, but then you don't get much cloud movement so it all looks a bit 'static'. So it's a balance between windless conditions and enough cloud movement to make it look good. One of the reasons I really like them - To incorrectly quote Forrest Gump "Hyperlapses are like a box of chocolates..." 🤣 Do lots of them and you'll get at least 75% good ones...🖖

I'm not sure I've seen that, so I assume it must be. If you're using pro mode, double check your shutter speed - that may limit things somewhat. Als check the interval that you're shooting at. Hope you find a solution! 🖖
I had a look at your Waypoints Tutorial today, along with a few other channel Tutorials but for some reason, probably from user stupidity, I can't get my head around this feature. I waste an entire battery trying to set up a simple route and then mess that up. 😭😭😭
Hey Frank - Sometimes if I'm doing a complex waypoint route, I'll set it up, save it, bring the drone back, change the battery and then load the saved waypoint mission back up for it to be flown. Really takes the stress out of trying to do it all in ONE battery. A few people have asked me to do another waypoints tutorial, so I might add this as a top tip as I've never really mentioned it before... 🖖
@@amoktimeflies Waypoints and Points of Interest are a PITA to get to work for me. I really want to do Day to Night stuff. And I'm hoping to have a working Waypoint route for when a large building gets demolished in town so that I can film its demise and the new structure rising from its ashes. But, user stupidity is getting in the way.
@@amoktimeflies My working Waypoint Route, such as it is, has many waypoints as I flew it manually and has 4 POI for each corner of the intended site. Some time next year they are going to knock down out 1960's Police Station and its massive.
Thanks for your comment John - Yeh flying under article 16 reduces the restrictions on drones weighing < 25kg in recreational areas and you need to be a member of an authorised flying club. In essence it reduces restrictions, but there are several caveats to that - the main one being that you can only fly under article 16 in recreational areas. You can read more about it here : fpvuk.org/caa-article-16-operational-authorisation-uas-7068/ A2 C of C effectively enables you to fly a drone between 250g and 500g which would normally have to be flown in the A2 Open Subcategory in the A1 subcategory with the privileges that allows, although there should be no 'intentional' flight over people. I spent £80 on the A2 CofC course just so I could stick a £12 strobe on my mini 3 pro and fly it in A1! 😂🖖
Stupid question … I come from still photography and have done a few timelapses, but in videography couldn’t you just speed up the video to get the same result?
That’s actually a really good question, and yes you could do that, but a. the file size would be a lot larger b. You can shoot hyperlapses in jpeg or raw and besides the video that is produced at the time you also get the individual photos as well c. From a social media point of view the file is immediately available to upload without any post processing. Also as individual photos are being taken then stitched together, it’s a lot easier to sort out a random ‘wobble’ in post. You do have a point though - could be worth me doing a comparison vid 👍🖖
@ - why I asked this question is that the DJI Neo has no Hyerlapse function and so the only way to do something similar would be a speed up of the video… Maybe you could do something with the DJI Neo and explain how to do hyperlapse or something similar with it.
@SkysaxonDragonslayer thankyou - yeh really good question again! Off the top of my head I think with the Neo it may be due to the limited stabilisation - it only has a one axis gimbal compared the 3 axes on the larger drones so results are likely to be more variable especially if there’s a slight breeze. Also possibly something to do with the limited storage on the Neo. All good things to investigate though! Thanks again!🖖
Well dog gone it! I went out this afternoon, set up a 2-waypoint hyperlapse, and was given the option for a video length of 22 seconds, or 500 frames, or some such number. Went back out tonight, set up a new 2-waypoint hyperlapse, and it wouldn't let me select more than 300 frames--a 10 seond Length. Not even more choices. It stops at 10s. Wtf?? Am I going crazy here?
Couple of things : How much battery did you have left? Did you spend a longer time setting up the waypoints perhaps? Also - check your interval of shots - sometimes that restricts the amount of frames that can be taken - I always tend to set mine at 2 second intervals - sometimes it's easy to accidentally change that by accident instead of the duration - I know I've done that in the past. Sorry - I know that's not very helpful - wish I could be there with you to diagnose it though mate...🖖
@@amoktimeflies Full battery. Interval set to 2s...don't want it any more "keystone cops" than that. Gotta be 2s all the time for me. You can test it out and see whats going on. Try doing a 20 second long duration with 2 waypoints not so very far apart. From one end of your yard to the other--maybe an elevation change and a touch of gimbal tilt.

That sounds awesome! 😲 - 2 waypoints - 1 POI - I'm going to practice that, as I've not done a lot with POIs yet... Good luck! 🖖
Good use of ‘PITA’ by the way! I thought I was the only person that used that acronym! 🤣 🖖
@@amoktimeflies My working Waypoint Route, such as it is, has many waypoints as I flew it manually and has 4 POI for each corner of the intended site. Some time next year they are going to knock down out 1960's Police Station and its massive.
I think there is an article 16 exemption on 250g+ drones that doesn't require A2CofC as long as you stay 50m away from people and structures...
You can read more about it here : fpvuk.org/caa-article-16-operational-authorisation-uas-7068/
A2 C of C effectively enables you to fly a drone between 250g and 500g which would normally have to be flown in the A2 Open Subcategory in the A1 subcategory with the privileges that allows, although there should be no 'intentional' flight over people.
I spent £80 on the A2 CofC course just so I could stick a £12 strobe on my mini 3 pro and fly it in A1! 😂🖖
Stupid question …
I come from still photography and have done a few timelapses, but in videography couldn’t you just speed up the video to get the same result?
That’s actually a really good question, and yes you could do that, but a. the file size would be a lot larger b. You can shoot hyperlapses in jpeg or raw and besides the video that is produced at the time you also get the individual photos as well c. From a social media point of view the file is immediately available to upload without any post processing. Also as individual photos are being taken then stitched together, it’s a lot easier to sort out a random ‘wobble’ in post. You do have a point though - could be worth me doing a comparison vid 👍🖖
@ - why I asked this question is that the DJI Neo has no Hyerlapse function and so the only way to do something similar would be a speed up of the video…
Maybe you could do something with the DJI Neo and explain how to do hyperlapse or something similar with it.
Well that's basically what I did in this video - really strange... Are you on auto or pro settings? (Grasping at straws here for a clue here...)🖖
@amoktimeflies You must have a very large backyard. Try setting only 2 waypoints...very close together-- 20 meters apart.
@odinata off out this afternoon with my Mini 4 Pro - will give it a try. (Oh and I only take off and land from my back yard! 🤣 I fly all day over the place but of course within visual line of sight!)🖖
