Love those recessed taillights. I need a pair for my 4 runner. Another Great Video. Working on building an 89 Dodge(Mitsubishi) Raider and get a lot of Great Tip and Tricks from your videos!!! Cheers, Bugs NW Montana
Love that trail. Almost looks easier than last year, probably not. Thanks for taking us on the Rubicon Ken, looking forward to the next time I get to run it again. Happy trails.
Like how you decide when and where to go while not braking your rig when your in the middle of the trail 🤙. Great content love your rig, I love what you do for me Toyota 🎶🎶🎤
@@bugsmoran21 Hey there! At the time, I was running 285/75/17 (34") Yokohama G003s on Method 701 bead grips. Tbh, I HATED my G003s so much that I got rid of them the second I got home to Atlanta (3 days after this video was filmed). I found that they performed well in Moab; however, they were lackluster on the 'Con and they'd almost split at the bead in southern Utah. I was not a fan of how they did on the highway, either. I will say, I think the Method 701s are BY FAR the best wheel for anyone who daily's their rig. I actually ran 6 PSI on the Rubicon with that wheel and didn't pop a bead. Hope that helps!
I've been off-road a couple of times with some newer jeeps and my Fj. And I still can't believe how loud the fans are in the newer jeeps. They remind me of an idling garbage truck
stik good accessory fans on it. look into why they run hot. is there a better thermostate,,bigger rad.. too hot = fires..as jeeps do..get a cummins 2.8..
Great video! For a guy who usually has everything (except brake fluid😁) figured you would still have the lasso!! You should throw it in and be the savior!!
Have you ever run the Dusy-Ershim trail on the Western side of the Sierras out of the Fresno area. There were several years I ran both trails within a month of each other the Ershim trail is usually the Rubicon times 3 in both difficulty and length. The exception is if you run the Rubicon in June before Jeepers Jamboree starts their trail work. The difference between a very early Rubicon run And one after the trail work is night and day. Even easier after a couple of the jamboree events. I’m glad Toyota finally went to Dana 60’s? Nice rig and vid!
When the video first started I thought there is no way that 4-runner is making it through the Rubicon. I’m honestly surprised it did. Did you have to edit out all the times it got stuck and you had to help pull him? LOL
@@teamvegas05 Haha, I definitely have a front [air] locker. I just use it VERY sparingly for reasons seen in the video. If I would have used it, things probably would have gone a little faster; however, it's likely that I may have broken something earlier. Still being on IFS, I really try to only use the front when absolutely necessary.
@@offroadhub.official a good pair of vice grips, and a slide hammer that will screw into the adjuster on said vice grips will pop them right out (usually)... I wheel'd ifs toyotas for too long.

Excellent camera work! Thanks, Morgan!
He did pretty good 😀👍
thanx Morgan for the excellent camera work 👏 as always good job Ken
Thanks Billy!

There were a few spots that were easier for sure. They had just "fixed" several spots. It's always changing a little.
Thanks for sharing Ken. Morgan is a lucky guy!

Oh cool Rubicon again 👍👍!
Another good run on the Rubicon
Thanks again, Ken! Had a blast wheeling with you
Thanks for the invite, it was awesome!
Griffin4Runner - What tire/wheel combo are you running?
Cheers,

Awesome!! Looking forward to this trail in September hopefully…wish I could have joined y’all!!
You'll love it!

The pentastar 3.6 runs really hot, 230-240 degrees. It probably makes it more fuel efficient.

Everything except breaks fluid 😆 yes, I still owe you a bottle. I still have the lasso I think... I just didn't have it with me.
Another great adventure!
Heck yeah! Wish you had made it!

I haven't done dusy yet, it's on my short list though!
Oh man that intro was perfect 🤣
Good you liked it! 😄
I use solid 2.5" aluminum lower links from wide open design, they can take a beating!
How did you like your tires? I have the same in a 36, heading there in July.
The irocks do really well I think, no complaints. I'll be back on the Rubicon in June this year. 👍
@@offroadhub.official Thanks, I hope the snow is gone for you.
I have to do this trail. Did you start at Loon lake? Nice dad and son time.
Yes we started at Loon Lake. 👍
Been waiting for you to do this trail 😎
I was looking forward to it as well 😀
I remember a video of you and your Son going out to the failed dam by your house.
Wow Ken I'm impressed!! For your prize I owe you lunch sometime! 😀👍
@@offroadhub.official Ok, lunch sounds great.
Another great video!!
Thanks Jerry! 😉
You need to come to the east coast. WindRock, Black Mountain off road park and several other great parks
I was planning on it, then the price of fuel got stupid. 😕 I'll make it eventually!
yea walden ridge vid please

He only winched once or twice as I recall. It's doable. My first Rubicon video that's all the setup I had. 👍
@@offroadhub.official I hope that didn’t come off harsh but I really mean it…I’m surprised he made it!
@@DUNEATV no it's totally understandable. Lots of people are always surprised to see ifs Toyotas rolling through.
@@offroadhub.official 👍🏻👍🏻
I mean, it’s a twin locked 3rd gen in decent tires.
What else would you need?
They weigh nothing and with both ends locked he’s doing pretty good
Still watching but wondering if Griffin has a front locker on the 4Runner
Disregard just saw the locker and issues! Lol. Great video Ken as always.

The front suspension on the FJ is independent. I see a beam bridge with you that is completely dependent. 10:04
The front of my FJ used to be independent, I did a solid front axle conversion. The 4runner at 10:04 is still independent front.
@@offroadhub.official can you show a video of how you redid the front suspension and from what you put the front axle?

What is the tires size on the 3rd gen 4Runner
34"
I noticed on very hot days if I pop open the back window that it ventilates so well.
I have only opened my rear window a couple times ever.
@@offroadhub.official I have a dog net across the back of the window so it keeps your stuff in place or your pet..
CV Lasso is the best! I take it everywhere.
It's the best tool for the job. This one was exceptionally stuck! 😬
@@offroadhub.official Yea that winch maneuver was pretty wild!
It was probably the Teton dam site video.
Yes it was!
Next time we are going to old sluice
For sure! Old and little!
Running the Rubicon with a spare CV, but not the tools to properly remove the broken one is a mistake he won’t make again 😂
That CV was beyond stuck. I don't think it would have come out with any "proper" tool. Sometimes you have to improvise. 😄

yeeehh...1st.....well 99 +1 = 100th..
26:39 is right where i blew a bead last year
So many memories along the trail! 😀
shouldnt they pipe that runoff....to lake mead.??..
They need the water in Northern California as well. 👍
*Why does Ken find it laughable that his friends RTT is on his windshield?* 🤦♂
Because tents belong on the ground
I do it to cheer you up Uncle! I know you love my girly giggling. 😆
For what it’s worth…. It was kind of funny 😂 until I got so frustrated that I decided to cheat with a front locker & blew a CV
No camp fires aloud on the trail at this time , good thing a sheriff didn’t come by
Don't worry, this was before Memorial Day. We even had a permit. 👍
Isn't running the Rubicon on 40's cheating? Haha just kidding
What trail? Ha ha ha
😂😂
