17:08 Quiet 😍 David Hayter IS Snake, to quote Blade "There will only ever be one Snake"
I still can’t help but respect Kojima. Like, I always hear Mozart was a d-bag that it’s like, Kojima could be the biggest jerk on the planet, but that could easily be the source of his talent. He’s just a weird guy who’s built different
What i would prurge in belwo zero is how ducking hard it is to get batteries with the annoying to find ribbon plant
As much as I love MGSV's gameplay, I tend to pretend it never existed. Should've ended the series with MGS4.
Sutherland had so few lines as Snake in 5 that it was pretty forgettable.
Just started TR1 today, just done the catacombs. I remember these games being more difficult when I was younger but I'm kinda breezing through it. I wouldn't recommend the modern control scheme at all just use the tank controls as the game was designed with them, it's easy to get used again.
mmmmmmm me thinkest thou doth over step a bit
For the Konami boot lickers. MGS4 costs $80 million to make. MGS4 sold 6 million copies. That's $360,000,000 generated. David Hayter is ok. He probably demanded more money and was acting like a d*ckhead to the hand that fed him. ( He f*cked around and found out ). There's plenty of voice actors in the sea baby. Quiet is a cutie pie, but not getting Death Stranding role is entittlement behavior. It cost to be the big boss. P.S. mgs delta is gna ba @$$.
The moment I found out David Hayter had given his salary to bring back the OG cast, I knew he wasn't in the wrong. Just a case of Konami sucking and Kojima being pretentious.
David Hayter also doesn't get enough credit for his screenplay work that has impacted the comic book movies. He was the co-screenwriter on X-Men (2000), X2 and Watchmen. He's good.
52:20 "It's the antithesis of everything wrong with mobile gaming" I don't think that word means what you think it means.
Apart from the walking simulator, what has he done? He's just a pretentious, vane and entitled artist who wants everything to be done his way, which is erratic and unpredictable.
Nice video also Kojima replacing David Hayter in MGSV GZ/TPP pissed me off but despite this MGSV GZ/TPP are my favorite MGS games of all time. Also for me David Hayter is the one and only real Big Boss and Solid Snake.
i can remember everything I did in subnautica ,being exited about it and even scared . Whereas below zero just felt like a boring movie and i cant remember it quite as well eventough it was years later. It seems they might have realised they need to go back a bit with subnautica 2 , i hope .altough we've seen multiple characthers in the trailer.
Kojima is a lot like George Lucas... a good "idea man", but needs to be filtered through people who know better about storytelling and dialogue. Both of them think too highly of themselves and it doesn't help that diehard fans encourage it. They both also only ever did their best work by homage or stealing from others, combined with teams who filtered them into making a refined masterpiece. Unfiltered, they're both insane.
Kojima demonstrates perfectly the consequence of having too much smoke blown up your ass and falling in love with yourself.
I' m only two videos in and I already think you are the best at games analysis. First one was Kojima' s one! great work
I’m a fan of MGS and think Kojima did some great stuff, but I wasn’t about to just buy death stranding or anything in the future, just because his name is on it.
I knew something was weird behind the scenes as soon as I watched the GZ trailer and heard Kiefer Sutherland say "Kept you waiting huh?" instead of the legend David Hayter...
Really well presented and written video. Good job.
I only played the games with japanese voices so I dont know and dont care about the english ones. Also I noticed that american localizers in the last years are changing original japanese sentences and original script to fit their woke agenda. Kojima surely wouldnt like that.
I have mixed feelings now 10 years later...Was it really Konami's fault or Kojima's? I don't' think it's a both sides thing as we learn more about Kojima and some very questionable moves in MGS5.
Great video!
10:37 it's the best version... "Macho it up ?" these people are helpless
This is basically the meme of the guy turning round to look at a hot chick while walking with his girl.
I dont like george lucas movies, but even he needed people to restrain him from stupid ideas (more or less) People with ground breaking ideas tend to get an ego Ps: i think peacewalker sucked and hate base management
Kojima's face in general screams "pretentious", so I'm not really surprised he acts like he does.
Man I love this game, been playing it nonstop ever since I got it a few days ago for christmas. Tho I definitely did NOT take that one line from the ranger like that. To me she got drunk and that's why she's so tired, that's all-
Kojima is a pretentious piece of trash
I dont know a thing about the guy besides mgs. And i don't really give a fuck either
I kind of realised when Death Stranding came out that Kojima can’t make games and that his name is just a marketing ploy.
Goku remained voiced by a woman even after all these years
Answer to the title: because Kojima is an overrated toolhead of a human
This video giving so much love to Metal Gear Solid. I just wish Syphon Filter would can that same energy, since it dropped a year later.😢
Now watch this and remind yourself on how he handwaved off his co-writer for 1-3 and how downhill the plots of all his games became after 3
Hi Casual gamer. Thank you so much for bringing context to this video. I have always told my gamer friends, some who are notorious Kojima fanboys, that Kojima is a self centered egomaniac that simply wants all the credit for his work. I do not understand how Death stranding's writing didn't get absolutely destroyed by critics. Technically, it's a good game, don't get me wrong, but the writing, the pacing..... My god. Absolute torture. I really hope Kojima makes a movie, that way, movie critics will eat him alive and put him in his place, unlike the game industry that almost deifies him. This needs to stop and someone needs to tell him that the people around him are what a game great, not just an egomaniac in a leather jacket who sprays his name on screen before each mission. His obsession with filmmakers and working with Hollywood stars is beyond ridiculous. And to be so insecure, that you have to cut out your main voice actor just because he was getting more attention? Childlike, immature behavior and finally, after years of saying this, you put out this video. I feel vindicated and have you to thank for. Sending it to my fanboy friends to piss them off. I also think he is a massive, unapologetic pervert but still waiting on that one to come out. Subscribed!
You sir, have earnt a new sub :)
I remember being in a Con on a sunday and it was so empty, I saw David Hayter and no one in that line just two people who hang out with him getting picture, I approach him after the two, got to meet him, and he was very charming, and kind, got a picture with him and a voice recording wishing my nephew who was sick at the moment, a happy birthday, then hang out with the dude since there was no one else behind me, we went for a walk around the con, just speaking about the gaming and how every other voice actors were cool, I did ask him if his been to Japan he said he has for video shots or commercials when I ask if he met Kojima, he told me no, because his a busy guy, Hayter made it brief and didn't go into the details. after that the walk was over since he had to head to the booth. the experience was very awesome. Now after seeing this video, I did not know that Hayter wasn't too close to Kojima and how he handle the voice actors was wrong. Kojima was already a rock star even with Hayter involvement after MGS1 we all became fanboys and all knew Kojima and yes why not Hayter? he deserve it since he brought the voice out there. I didn't think Kojima will do that to Hayter and others, especially over jealously? man that sucks and to hear that Hayter will never work with Kojima damn that hurts. Kojima these Hollywood folks their alright but not on top of the world! a lot of these people are scums to the core. Kojima had a humble team to squash over Hollywood. That a very delusional of him. Shame. I never played the one with the Diamond dogs, I know is all good and stuff, but I never played it because Hayter wasn't part of it.
I really hate how people glorify individuals as if no team existed. Kojima is a really inventive man … but his team brought his vision to life.
Well done!
i kinda get why kojima would be angry over the translation changes as you could imagine if you see something as your own art then discovering someone has rewritten parts of it for a reason that is still very new to the industry in japan... you can kinda see how that can lead to thinking that theyre ruining your vision and lead to a bad reaction. its still a massive overreaction and hes probably a bit of a narcissist but still, you can see where its coming from. it was clearly an overreaction and he was being an ass about it though. unfortunately most of the top artistic and creative people in the world have massive ego's and terrible personalities. maybe its what spawns the creativity or maybe its just that only the most cutthroat of creatives make it to the limelight so theyre all we see, either way its a thing. the most apt comparison i can think of is stanley kubrick, absolutely horrible and often cruel person, yet one of the most talented and creative directors out there.
but maybe im a dumbass since those examples of awkward dialogue seemed completely normal to me so : /
David Hayter will always be Snake for me! I never got into MGS5 just cause they changed actors. Had no idea Blaustein and how big of an impact he had on the early MGS game.
I find it funny nowadays that a lot of cinematic games are made by people that really want to be moviemakers (Kojima,Drunkmann), but actual filmmakers have more respect towards video games (Josef Fares,Spielberg). I always found this quote from Spielberg especially interesting it's related to in-game cutscenes, but I feel it's pretty applicable to cinematic games: "You know the thing that doesn't work for me in these games are the little movies where they attempt to tell a story in between the playable levels. That's where there hasn't been a synergy between storytelling and gaming. They go to a lot of trouble to do these [motion-capture] movies that explain the characters. And then the second the game is returned to you and it's under your control, you forget everything the interstitials are trying to impact you with, and you just go back to shooting things. And that has not found its way into a universal narrative. And I think more has to be done in that arena."
I lost respect for Kojima
Kiefer Sutherlands performance was fantastic in V. Hayter been in every other mgs title. Get over it
As a die hard fanboy of Metal Gear who loves all the games. I'm kinda glad Konami did Kojima dirty, giving him a taste of his own medicine. Konami disrespected him the same way he disrespect people that did important work for him and the fans of MGS.
Huh, & they're going to make it an exclusive on a console I will never ever own... Great... If this really is something of a lifeline for the company, excluding all the pc gamers without a console, doesn't really seem like the smartest idea, especially when exclusives are only meant to increase want for a console, which, hardly seems like Konami's priority in that case.
Hideo Kojima is the Neil Breen of Cinematic game design. And if you disagree, you can go die hard man.
My favorite experience of subnautica is i drew the map myself, with pen and paper, using triangulations. The true exploration game. While i got spoiled by the existence of leviathan, i didnt know about alien architecture and expected a casual scifi flora ocean. The first vents i found was like whaaaat. And reaching Lost River was suuuch a Chief Kiss.
Overall, the fact is he's human. They're not Gods... just flawed people.
