26:40 that bit actually filled me with genuine terror
I liked the game and think all the hate surrounding it is wack af tbh literal only complaint i had was how aggy the leviathons were other than that i prefer it to the og lol
1000000% the unknown is what makes sub better. Even playing it for the 2-4 time. There are places I havent been as much, that im not familiar with. And may DARK places that are scarry no matter what.... Even KNOWING what you know. Patrols change.... reapers move... its all just... more real. More alive. Less scipted... less "setup"
26:00 wtf
OK so birds in the game could be cool. There was once a prehistoric penguin in the ocean that killed lots of things. Very big and scary.
I personally still think Below Zero is a blast.
Am I the only one who fought a reaper to the death in their prawn suit no right?
Subnautica is something minecraft Warden tried to replicate. something that is not in your way but is still there.
you know your horror game is good when the gameplay hours is 4 times more than the content hours. shi, you would rather build a base to 'feel' safe rather than explore to get lithium in an island that has a void bottom.
I finished the first two but I’m a little afraid of three because their items are so hard to see in the new graphics.
Subnautica scared my fear of water out of me, below zero just made me so bored i didnt need a reason to be scared
as much fun co-op sounds i can’t help but feel sad as i feel that the game is now going to be built around it being played co-op and not solo. I’m hoping they find a way to make it feel as immersing as the first game but i have a feeling they might just go the traditional horror route which isn’t what made the first feel as scary. But I’m hoping I’m wrong and it’s as good if not better than the first
Woke retards Killed the Franchises also the game its self was just a shittier version of Sub Nautica
Sometimes the snarky strong woman archetype doesn't fit the mood a game is supposed to have, shocking right? That a character's character has to actually fit the vibe the game needs to succeed?
Subnautica 2 just didn’t feel exciting I always felt like it was go here so this go there do this, vehicles felt lame and clunky, I was never excited to unlock the “Sea truck” I just knew I needed to to get the game over with, the whole environment of the game and the stupid character design was just miserable, bring back the cyclops and give us the option to mute voice lines from our character
Are they worth it? Yes, is the remake better?? Imo, no. Issac is better with no voice.
While I love the game the scariest aspect had been the jumpscares for me 😂 while entertaining it stops being scary sometimes lolol
I think kojima for some odd reason just doesn’t like David for some odd reason he tried replacing him before MGSV and it’s two, three and four kojima got issues for real and that video of “kojima is god” is wild talk about sucking your own shtick
I love below zero as a game, but Subnautica is probably one of my favorite games of all time, not voiced character helps build some tension, there is no one to help nor accompany you, and then you have things like Aurora or life pods to explore, wich is terrifying to explore in some moments.
A big thing that proves to me BZ’s leviathans sucked was how after I finished BZ I chose to go to the original to see the difference in map size. Long story short I saw the ghost leviathan in the lost river and tried to just tank a hit and drive by like I did in BZ. So now I don’t have a Cyclops anymore and I’m scarred for life.
Subnautica 2 is infected by SBI. Wildlife will have 4 Pronouns at least.
The thing is i didnt even investigate sam in below zero and i finished the game. I just realized that with this video when i saw some unfamiliar cutscenes that i didnt even go trought them just skipped them and did the alan part and finished the game
SOMETIMES the enemy of my enemy is a friend. Buuuut in this case it's still just a massive soulless and evil corporation, that's just using the original actor. It would make sense to use anyone else. That's all. We all prefer Hayter. So it's inadvertently the right choice. But they're only doing it because he was BB in MGS3 and they're remaking MGS3..... And for the record Kojima can be a weird guy who does make some...odd decisions. But they still shouldnt scrap a 3rd of a game, just because he's over budget and the deadline. What they should have done, is told him no on the Keifer idea in the first place.
I dunno, co op sounds like fun on Paper but I think one of the things that made the OG great was that you were truly *alone*. 0 human interaction. 0 friendly faces. Every. Single. Human is dead. Nothing is to be trusted. You were alone with your own wits and everything has to be taken seriously. You have doubts with no one to reassure you. You have fear with no one beside you. Your will for exploration is your own. Nothing is funny because there’s no one else to laugh. Below zero had that problem, you aren’t alone. The sheer existence of characters is enough to soothe players offering a temporary respite from the terrifying experience. Even Robin counts as a character. In comparison, Riley was never a character, he was YOU. Same problems arise with co op as suddenly, previously terrifying creatures are made fun of and cheesed for shits and giggles. As a duo, players feel less afraid to test the creatures for what they really are; programmed sprites in a game. I’m open to co op but i don’t expect it to live up to the original experience.
Why is the bz pda Indian lol
kiefer as Naked/venom snake aka Big boss. david as solid snake
I hope subnatica 2 is just as good as the original. I don't have a good computer so I haven't played but just watching people play the game is super emersive. The speculative biology aspect which thanks to curios archive (the thing that originaly introduced me to the game) is absolutely amazing. It really feels like a dangerous ocean planet where almost everything is hostile and a slight mistake can prove fatal. The lore is incredible and the fear is so real. Even if my experience is from another's perspective, it is an incredible game, and I am looking forward to subnatica 2.
Totally agree, however I believe the Swuidshark is not a leviathan
It is actually, it’s described as: “A leviathan-class predator at the smaller end of the scale, with complex, squid-like adaptations which allow it to hunt a wide range of prey.” But that’s exactly the point … you don’t even think it’s a legitimate leviathan because it’s been shrunk down so it will fit in a cave.
Below Zero is an amazing game and I almost like it more than the original lol
Almost… 🫣
DH made metal gear ❤ this is only the beginning!!
My only question is how did Marguerit survive the Karrar virus?
I would recommend not having the game volume similar to your voice volume. It makes it hard to hear you. Great video otherwise.
🙏
I say running round corners and miss judging turns and jumps is a quality. Its a cornerstone of tomb raider gameplay.
i actually really liked below zero and lowkey prefer it to subnautica
What I love? Everything but one thing. What do I hate? One thing. There’s no surprises. They can’t throw 2 trex at us? Can’t add more enemies? First enemy In tomb Raider was the bat. You can’t surprise us and change it to wolf!? Shame
Great video. Your thoughts matched a lot of mine. I was prepared to give Below Zero a positive review (with major reservations) on Steam up until the ending. That ending was so unsatisfying to me. By this point I was so done with the two main characters and their annoying, immersion-breaking dialogue. Then the ending featured a ton more dialogue from those same two annoying characters. I longed for the days when it was just me and the ocean. Because like you said, Riley being a silent protagonist allowed the player to feel like he or she was actually in the world. Every time Robin opened her mouth in Below Zero to deliver some snarky, unfunny line, it completely ruined that.
Honestly it kinda makes sense to have venom snake be voiced by someone else, because hes not actually Big Boss, He's a different person
Sorry but not even slightly, for so many reasons. For example Akio Ōtsuka voiced every iteration of Snake in Japan, and he gets cast first. Or the fact that Big Boss speaks to Ishmael in the hospital at the start of Ground Zeros … but he is voiced by Sutherland, so the entire role of all the Snakes had been transferred to him, not just Venom. Plus the fact that they are able to make one person physically look like another, plus create a freakin’ virus which is activated when your vocal cords vibrate at the rate of a specific language, and brainwash that guy so he literally thinks that he’s someone else the entire way through… and you think that they can’t make a person sound different?? No man, that is just so weak, Kojima finally got his wish by cutting off Hayter so he could rub shoulders with Hollywood’s elite, plain and simple. No part of any of it makes sense if you read into it.
What do you want from next Subnautica? Cats. Same energy.
Too much time on land. Period. Made me really dislike the game.
i’ve always wanted to play the tr classic games, mostly because i’ve went to a friend’s house on my childhood and i’ve seen him playing tomb raider II (i’ve discovered that was the second one after playing the venice level hahah) on PS1. The years passed and i forgot the game, until in 2017 i’ve came across all of them on steam. I’ve tried a lot to enjoy the game, but the controls were too clunky. This year i’ve seen the remastered edition trailer and though that’s nice and wishlisted it. Until this last month, where it got a nice discount and i purchased it to try. It was love on the first sight, until i’ve reached st francis’s folly level and those damn pillars. i’ve almost gave up when she refused to grab the pillars, i’ve lost like 2-3 hours on this part, until i’ve seen someone on reddit mentioning that pointing the camera to where i wanted to jump would make it easier, so i did and now i have 70 hours on the collection, i’ve already beaten tr 1 and unfinished business and now i’m playing tr II. Can’t wait for the IV-VI collection.
i personally cannot stand the murky low visibility water in SN. I really hope that SN 2 has a clarity like BZ.
I love how much art is in this coming from a person who has developed games in this genre by myself, and the branches in every storyline is incredibly impressive cause VN‘s usually do not offer that much diversions cause it takes so much time to write and depict them all. But at the same time, it kinda feels like the game kinda lost an overarching structure of plot. This is why i often argue that there should be some locked routes in these games that you‘d only unlock if you know enough. It feels like it‘s missing some finale cause the endings all are kinda underwhelming imo. For a game so much about what makes life in the face of suffering worth it vs the argument for eternity and absence of meaning, it‘s endings seem so unsatisfying to me. There should be more of a fight. More of an argument between ur character and the Princess and also the Narrator. It just needed a stronger ending imo. You don‘t go through so many routes with sending it off with a whimper instead of a boom. Also another gripe, hand god princess really annoyed me. The way she always talked like a pseudo intellectual was making me roll my eyes. I get it. She‘s an entity akin to a god. An agent of chaos. But for a game so determined to make it about a very human thing aka human relationships, the god version of her seems utterly insufferable to me. At least the narrator and the mc was witty and human. But the princess god came off like a 14 year old trying to sound deep and all knowing. It just felt pretentious.
Kiefer Sutherland was great as Big Boss.
I always think this about subnautica- if they want it more accessible, make a peaceful mode. Allow the discomfort of the vast ocean to be the terror. Make it rewarding in a peaceful mode, and allow OPTIONAL direction for people who aren’t good at the open game type. Don’t change it all like they did in sub zero, add *options*
Co-op is the ultimate double-edged sword. Playing with a friend is a great experience, but it also ruins immersion. The instant you drop another human player into a game, the atmosphere is the immediate causality. I’m not saying I don’t want Subnautica 2 to be co-op, but I also know it won’t be as immersive/atmospheric as the original because of it. If it’s strictly optional, that would probably be the best approach. Let us play the entire game solo, but give us the option of playing co-op just for fun.
“Very good to OK” Exactly. Below Zero is still a solid game. It’s playable, and it’s mostly giving us more of what we love, with a few notable missteps. But Subnautica is an out-and-out masterpiece.
other issue is that below zero wasnt intended to be a full game. it was a dlc. it was orginly supposed to just be the arctic region that was in addtion to the base game with its own optiona/post game storyline
I just found out about this game, it gave me nostalgia about when i played jagged alliance 2 a longgg time ago, it was so hard and i was so young it took me ages to complete the first few stages, hardest game i ever played, i loved the game, cant wait to play this now, happy they kept true to the original, always hoped they would make another one,
I do seriously hate that they never and probably will never finish metal gear solid 5 it's a good game but it feels unfinished and I hate it and I really wish there was a thing where I could customize the people on my base I hate them not wearing mask so bad I don't know why maybe it's a grudge and that's mainly because during the story they get proper equipment and where balaclavas and then it straight up reverts back to them not
I couldn’t agree with you more. I’m lining a video up about exactly that funnily enough, been writing the script on and off for months. So disappointing, amazing how rarely it comes up.
