    Small correction: the first PS1 3D game is in fact called Clock Tower 2 in Japan and what western audience know as Clock Tower 2 is actually just a spinoff called "Clock Tower: Ghost Head". This is because first CT was never released outside of Japan so they thought they will just remove "2" from game title to not confuse people lol.

      Yeah the naming convention was a bit of a minefield. I actually had a paragraph dedicated to it in th script but when I recorded it, I thought it sounded too convoluted and confusing so I cut it. My apologies if the end result didn't explain that properly.

    Love the art style and the retro sound track. Kinda like a 2D version of Amnesia. 9 endings is pretty cool for such an old game! I dont think I would be able to play this - too scary!

    I know nightcry doesn't get that good of a rap, but to its credit, it was entirely intended for mobile play- so the amount of detail and design is actually pretty great for the platform it's on.
    And with that said, EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I AM SO EXCITED TO HEAR ANOTHER CLOCK TOWER IS COMING OUT ^^!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • @CasualGamr
      @CasualGamr  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As I understand it, it was INITIALLY created for smart devices and then mid production they switched over, which was a bold move but sadly it didn’t play out very well. Telltale games proved that not only can it be achieved, it can be done so well as to sweep people off their feet, and considering the amazing games of Kono’s past, I think his team dropped the ball whatever way you look at it. But that is just my opinion! Clearly we agree on our feelings about a new Clocktower remaster though 😀

      @@CasualGamr Amen ^^ personally I'll always forgive. Nightcry since it was meant to be mobile but that's just me- I still think they did a great job with the death animations any way you look at it, beats just "slowly approaching and fade to black mid scream". I know people think it's "artsy", but I admire more games that put effort into their death animations, it lets you know how much actual heart went into a games production than most games that just "ragdoll fall + game over".
      heres hoping for a lot of death scenes and a lot of endings to the remake- i am beyond excited to hear that it's coming as opposed to just another clocktower-like game like that "remothered" or whatever thing which was alright in its self, it just felt like it had a literal lack of emotion, you know? Hard to say.

      If you watch Tangomushi's video about Nightcry you can understand why most people could disagree with your opinion, i knew a lot of things about how bad that game development was, but her video has a lot of details that i never got to know. It was really messed up and for the sake of game developing in general no one should ever buy that game or any games from that company and producers.

    It's sad that no one ever mentions Remothered in these clock tower retrospectives, that game literally started as a fan remake of the original clock tower, and is certainly better than most titles in the franchise.

    • @CranberryLeGoot
      @CranberryLeGoot 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Remothered is definitely cool, and It being a spiritual successor is equally as cool. But, I think the second game, being as crazy buggy as it is and not making too much sense story-wise kinda drags the franchise down a few pegs.

    I'm surprised you didn't mention the Remothered series because it was inspired by the Clock Tower games and has the same gameplay style! I read somewhere that it initially might have been going to be a Clock Tower revival. The first one, "Tormented Fathers," was really good but far from perfect. The story was good, but the way they told it could have been better!. It also had some bugs and glitches, but despite being a short game of 4-6 hours, I really liked the gameplay and the puzzles. Broken Porcelain, on the other hand, was so buggy it was unplayable when it was released! They released a couple of bug patches for it, but that game will never be better than the first one.

    I never played any of the Clock Tower games but I would definitely be interested in this revival of the original game.
    I have however played Haunting Ground and it's one of my favorite survival horror games even and I would love to see that game get a proper remaster/remake that is easily accessible for modern gamers.
    Thanks for this video! It got me interested in the potential future of niche horror games with a more unique aesthetic and playstyle from the mainstream run-n-gun Resident Evil types. 😁

    Goes to the hospital in the doctor says you shouldn't be running down the stairs as a serial killer.
    So he comes back. And he's hunting in Walmart in the animals. And he comes there and cuts somebody's head up.
    Then he just bounces his out after. And then On the computers at Walmart, it says kill like the game.

    Given that Clock Tower 3 is one of my favourite survival horror games of all time and brings me HUGE nostalgia when thinking or hearing about it to when I was in high school, I don't appreciate the way you nitpicked it to death. The gameplay is still tense and engaging and the over-the-top performances really add a sort of charm to the whole thing. The super cheap final boss can go die in a fire, though! 🤣

    i just hope they dont water down the fear factor, this isnt everyones opinion but with clock tower 3 i just feel that the bosses got less and less scarier as the game continues, not because i got used to the game but because the enemies were just not scary, my brief description of the bosses are summed up as
    sledge hammer was slow but pretty scary, corroder was kinda creepy in a way, chopper/axe guy looked like an anorexic kratos cosplayer and as for scissor man and woman? now dont get me wrong, i liked scissor man but with a name like ralph of all things? and the dicount harley quin who soulds like nails on a chalk board? they were about as intimidating as theodor from alvin and the chipmunks and only slightly less annoying
