People complaining it doesn’t sound like the original seem to forget producers added lots of eq and effects and other things in the studio to make them sound better. Prince didn’t just switch it on record a beat and say “that’s fine” I’m sure if this and an original were put through the same effects, compressors, eq and people did a blind test, they’d struggle to tell the difference

It’s nice that it sounds and looks similar to LinnDrum. But I’m more interested in the functionality of it as a sampler and sequencer. For the price it will be nice to add it in my studio as a sound design tool. Great video!

It does not sound like an original. Muffled high's, over saturated low end so way less punch and no space in your mix. The midi machines go from bad timing to horrible timing and everything in between. This one is on the horrible side of the scale. I have all the old drum machines. Everything before midi has WAY BETTER timing. I let any of them run and its already music, it bounces so exciting that i want to dance. This totally not. Its timing makes me feel nervous. Opposite of what most people say i think the pre midi stuff is a lot tighter because all it has to say is on. A midi machine has to say on, how loud, what filter settings, pitch, envelopes etc. A computer can only do one thing at a time so each next event has to wait until the last is calculated and allocated and pulled from memory. Pre midi machines have a different "brain" for each section. The sequencer, the sounds that each have their own brain and memory and physical output to an internal analogue mixer. So in these machines the different parts can work simultaneously. Nobody has to wait, so perfect timing... The first MPC has its magical timing because in that machine the parts are still separate physical brains. Put an 808 on full speed and it becomes a perfect pitched note. Do that with a midi machine and it becomes a fart... The main thing that makes the original MAGICAL is its timing and Behringer has not copied any principle of the original to achieve that magical timing. So its very very far from a clone… (30 years top level sound engineer. Also worked with Prince)

Sounds great for 80s music but you can do all these in Ableton with Drum rack and some good Linndrum samples. So this time I will pass.

I just want to comment, mine FINALLY arrived, and i love it! Its great in mode 1 with my pads, but when i sequence it in mode 2 it really shines! Everything sounds so dense and full that comes from it.

Great video! Recently started making noise with this synth.

It's clearly for people who don't have the money to buy anything better or bigger or simply want to joke around with music for fun without much pretense but I think it's great that now everybody can have access to electronic music.

I have a problem with that pedal. I use it as a guitar pedal, it comes after the dirt pedals (RAT and Fuuz), no matter how I adjust the volume it always lowers the volume when switched on. I run it through a 9 V power supply. Is that normal? Anyone the same problem?

so after distorion/drive/delay/and reverb the same haha or close enough..no sh-101 sounds the same. Somewhere out there an sh-101 exists that sounds exactly like the Behringer

I finally got it to work by updating ASIO4ALL, and guess what... I LITERALLY DOES NOT PROVIDE TIGHT SYNC AT ALL. It is way way way worse than a MIDI cable; which is why NO ONE else would recommend doing this. I don't even see how you think it syncs with drums in ableton... it doesn't. All you have to do is put 4 on the floor on the drum machine, then a drum rack in Ableton playing 4 on the floor. hit play... sound in sync to you? The answer will 100% be "NO!" Okay, so why not mess with track delay like you would for MIDI, if you eventually hear the kicks lining up you'll think you go it, NO SO FAST. Stop the transient, start it again... RIGHT BACK WHERE YOU STARTED WITH THE KICKS GALLOPING. Delete this video you troglodyte, you wasted almost my entire day

What do you think of this or the MS-1, are they similar enough so I can go for an MS-5 or are they so different in features and sound that it's still viable to own both? I see no sequencer on this one so that would be one part that I might miss out on.

It does not work AT ALL... and if YOU got it to actually work it would be nice if you spent this video actually SHOWING HOW instead of trying to be funny and playing your dumb music for 95% of the video. The plugin you link to and a max for live device that claims to do that same thing at best start and stop the dumb machine over and over and over, nothing will simply run it and most of the time it won't see the clock... one of the Max for Live devices I found will at least see the BPM that is ableton... as it starts and stops the RD-8 24 times a second. So what did you actually do if you claim it works... are you using that ACTUAL multiclock sitting by your RD-8 and are too stupid to realize that?

I don't see the point of this AT ALL... so you synced your BPM with ableton... who cares, now you're not going to be able to use Ableton to send MIDI because all machine are only using triggers, so you have to sequence on the machines... SO WHY USE ABLETON? You don't need ableton to send the clock at all, you can just set your BPM on the drum machine then connect everything the exact same way... record into ableton the same way and set the BPM you see on your drum machine... There's ZERO reason to do this.
