What a price for this synth is really what this is all about if people were a little more honest. The more expensive polys have in built effects and far greater sound design permutations. But it's a wonderful sound from the synth and extraordinary low price.
@@vintagesynthesizers the original obx-a was a limited synth , it even did not feature volumepots for osc level , just on /off or half , it was not a soundesign synth , but that was the original , Behringer added a modmatrix so without knowing all it's routings it goes well beyond by offering a matrix
The OBX8 for 3000 $ more doesn't have effects neither, no polyphonic aftertouch and pretty much the same sound editing except for the OBX-Mode the UBX doesn't have.

pretty inaccurate assessment right there. You can do things with this synth that you cannot do with other, more expensive synths. The trick is in that PAT keybed to give you extra modulation.
Sounds good and I’ll probs buy one, but it doesn’t sound like my OBXa. I was hoping they’d get closer to the Magic. That board just oozes great sound after great sound. This one sounded like a lot of the slop or vintage feature (I forget what it’s called on this synth) was used to artificially age the circuits. Not bad but so prevailing. I’d love to get my hands on one and put it through its paces.

In general, wines from this region are a good choice. You should look for the "Cru Bourgeois" label. This always warrants decent Bordeaux quality at prices below 20 or 30€/$. On the other end you have the Grand Crus Classées that will start clearly beyond this price range. They are often absolutely comparable to the Cru Bourgeois if you know the right Château. I was an accredited "International Bordeaux Wine Educator" for over 10 years! So if you want to know something about it, just send me a mail! 😁
It's very nice to play. A bit like on the Hydrasynth. The Keybed feels less snug and lighter in action than a Fatar. But far better than the cheap modern Korg or Roland Keys. The Poly-Aftertouch works absolutely great!
It's a massive synth, size and sound, I can just fit 1 in, or maybe get the module, but that means no PAT keybed which defeats the purpose of the modulation.

It was more a progrock synth in the 80 than a soundcreation tool , the parameter depth of a prophet went well beyond what the oberheim could, oberheim did have the polyphonic glide wich was it's feature together with voice pan

The UBX sounds fat but I miss that 'warmth' from the original or even a Prophet. Just my opinion. Cool if it is fine with you and others.

Just try the double mode and play with the detune parameter! It will quickly become fatter than needed! 😁

I never was a big Obi-Sound fan though. But now, with the UB, I start to dig it!
