Appreciate you guys waiting for this one - I know we're a bit late, but we've done a LOT of testing - just sitting at our monitors scrutinising over 500 side-by-sides from both phones. I saw some rumours of a potential camera update on Samsung's end soon, so I'll keep you posted on Twitter if I notice anything changing, but if not, assume that this result is conclusive!
Just so you know Arun, the S24 Ultra camera results aren't quite to the level that they should be - yet. A fairly major patch is dropping on the 23rd, which apparently fixes a lot of issues especially with zoom and noise.
How much is this likely to improve though ? Being a long life Galaxy user, Ive wanted to switch to the Iphone but not sure if ill ever get used to the restrictions and no back button with navigation etc. But one thing is for sure, their cameras are always on point and generally much better than the Galaxy. Was thinking to get the S24 Plus, but camera seems disappointing compared to the Iphone, although im still using the S10+ lol
Such a close battle each year between the iPhone and Samsung. The iPhone has proven to be quite boring yet consistent in their image and video quality; while Samsung occasionally does a better job but still a little inconsistent compared to the Apple. Both are great in their own way!
Samsung takes better photos, it has been proven with facts 'dxomark for example) and with users (blindtest). Consistency isnt an issue anymore, find new stuff

I feel like the fact that Samsung has a built-in camera remote in the form of the s-pen is also a great comfort factor. I personally use it a lot when shooting those crispy rear camera pictures without necessarily having to ask someone to take them. It's more of a preference thing, but I also think just having that as an option elevates the whole experience a whole lot more.
@@richiefson But that requires an expensive accessory, and unless you're doing a voice command it requires you to touch your wrist with your other hand
@@bryce1361 No, you can just tap your index and thumb together and the watch will recognize that and take the picture (plus you can see a live view from the camera directly on the watch)
I had an s20 fe. moon shots were literally a quarter or more of my entire gallery. 30x zoom was super fun, now I have a OnePlus 12R. It's not the best moon shots, but it's tolerable. 20x zoom is still fun.
I know with the zoom, Samsung said that people tend to take closer photos and that the 100 time zoom was rarely used. I know I can confirm this with my S23 Ultra. If I ever took a 100x shot, it was just to show someone I could do it. I've never used that photo for anything. That being said, I took a million pictures at around 6x and 7x which looked like poo cause it was using the 3x camera. I think having the 5x vs the 10x camera will be awesome.
But feature is feature. That's better than nothing. Isn't it. If in Iphone no 100x zoom, that doesn't meat 100x zoom is useless. To be honestly I use everday shooting
I used it but not a lot because the sensor is crap is over exposed and hard to shoot with and I only shoot with it if I have to so the 5x is a clear welcome.

Hey, hey, hey... I agree with almost everything in this video except for the statement about Moon photos. If you've got any of the s20 series phones, and you take a picture of the moon, you're going to be addicted to showing it to people and they are always blown away. It's just so cool.
It's a gimmick. I have the S22 ultra for 2 years and yes people were blown away, but it gets boring after a while. More impressive than any of that are the 10x portrait shots cause ppl don't understand how field of view works and think it's black magic
I personally really value the hardware 960fps slow mo and i don't know how did it disappear over the last 5 years. It was such a cool feature, not for shooting stuff for instagram or tiktok but for actually looking at things that are impossible to see without the phone. It is similar type of feature to IR camera or the 10x zoom. They aren't very useful for everyday use but they are irreplacible when you need them.
Whoever works in Apple in their video department deserves a medal. The action shot option is god tier. We were filming rc cars racing around, and mounted the Iphone on a car as well. The shot looks like it's those 10K cameras mounted to vehicles.
Oh yeah, Apple has always kinda been the benchmark for A/V quality on smartphones. I remember getting concert tickets for myself and some friends around 2011... I had a super cheap Android phone (a piddly little HTC Wildfire S, I think) and one of my friends had a base-model iPhone. The A/V that I shot was just basically proof that I was there, while the A/V that she shot might as well be included in a tour video or documentary, it was so bastardly clean. And better Android phones didn't really fare so well either.
@@Dee_Just_Deewell in 2011 android was still in its infancy, these days, Apple is still the king of videos but the s24 ultra and one plus are right up there with it, actually the Samsung takes better pics, iPhone takes better videos, but it’s minuscule

This takes camera shoot to a whole new level!!! Props to Arun and his team for taking that extra time to make this video ridiculously entertaining. Looking forward to a Battery test and a full review of the new phone. I might actually want to buy one of these coming from an Samsung A series.
S24 has an extra telephoto, it smokes the iPhone in flexibility. Rest, similar differences can be found between main and UW cameras in the vanilla variants as it is found in the pro variants.
I feel you, but you'll have to look for that content in other smaller channels... Large creators such as Arun only go for the grandest headliners due to excess options, yet limited time and schedules
@@RitaSahay-g9p The sensors in the main cameras of the S24/+ vs the S24U are vastly different, as are the main sensors of the main cameras in the iPhone 15 vs the 15 pro, so the results of this comparison can't be used as an indicator of how the main cameras of the lesser phones in each flagship lineup would compare!
As a videographer, the ability to record in pro res log was MAJOR for me and no other smartphone company is currently competing with Apple when it comes to professional grade smartphone video off of that one feature alone. Personally, more than a ton of features in a phone, I look for the refinement of key features that are important to me, with video quality being a major one.
Arun. With all of these people leaving youtube cus of how hard they work, I think you are no exception. In fact, you might be the most hardworking tech channel. The backgrounds, Ambience, lighting, transitions and all that make your videos stand out and I absolutely love this form of content creating. I just wanted to point this out. So you can have a general idea that all these details you sprinkle in your content have not gone unnoticed.
And the fact that we have a such wholesome host who is always happy and smiling, I mean we all have bad days and not letting it slip into any note of the videos is quite remarkable! ❤
@@trex8523 yup even the tables and the environments arun has chosen for the video stands out from other YT reviewers. he almost makes it looks like the other reviewers are a bit lazy when they are not
I think in your next comparison it would be good to make the photo, video and night categories all worth 2 points instead of one. Because these are the categories most people use 99% of the time, it seems like they can get drowned out by and count the same as things like slow motion. Still a great video as always!
Yah we all know deep down that I phone won this one but majority of his audience are Samsung fans and he just threw them a bone this time cause they were really upset with him for the last camera comparison in September where Apple wone by a landslide
Yeah, photo 2, video 2, night 1.5 would be fair. No point in a phone's camera being great with the menu and editing, when the photos and videos don't look as good.
The most important things for me and most users are main fotoquality, shutterspeed, potraids, lowlight and video. The rest is so much less important… in the most important categories the iPhone is slightly better.
Arun's Camera Comparisons are always so detailed and spot on! There are so many small features and characteristics of each camera that would never have crossed the mind of a user. Always am stocked to watch these videos in particular, keep up the amazing work Arun!
On 5:37 you make a misstake.. you can get a second button on screen and that one you can move everywhere on the screen to take foto/video. So you thumb can push it easy Open Camera App: Settings -> Shutter (Auslöser) -> floating shutter button ( no idear what his name is in english)
I work as a videographer and content creator. I have an S22 Ultra at home and I have currently switched to 15 pro max (of course, I have a different tools for video projects. I bought an iPhone only for creating content and SMM). As a videographer, I don't like it if the photo or video is too digitally sharp (even the s22 ultra was always too digitally sharp). Even now at 15 pro max when editing, I always reduce texture and clarity. And after watching this video, the most important factors were all won by Apple. This video is "slightly" sponsored.
Arun, I love the way you present your videos, one of the reasons I don’t like watching other tech reviewers because they don’t present it in a fun casual way, keep up the great content❤
There was a report out that said wait till the 1st software update before you do any camera testing, I'm assuming they're going to fix those issues that you're talking about with the zoom, just a thought, you may want to revisit this at a later date.
Why does no youtuber mention that the selfie cameras of the 15 pro / pro max models take pictures like zombies? There is an incredible difference between what you see on the screen and the image saved in the gallery. Camera is worse than Nokia 6670. I will have the 15 Pro Max tested by people passing by in front of the Apple store and then set it on fire so that the whole world will see the fraud committed on the 15 series.
Bro the reason i love your videos is -- * The No. 1 video editor you have. * Your video Thumbnail * Your In Depth Analysis about every Tech Product * Your Video Style ❤
A couple of additions that can be added in the next comparisons are S-Pen shortcuts for camera control (taking photos, videos with spen is really cool and practical) and Pro mode of expert raw app (controlling iso, shutter speed, white balance, manual focus + software based neutral density filter are some things we don't find with iPhone's native camera app and they're underrated)
Probably part of the camera app comparision for the S-Pen. Also it's hard to compare phones on different functionalities, like the black magic app on iPhone that has no close comparision on Samsung
@@charleslaferriere2282 there is also apps like motioncam for android. But I agree, its a camera comparison and not a "which third-party app is available" comparison.

A better ending would have been for him to shoot the losing phone and record it being done with the winner's camera. Missed opportunity lol that being said, I am an android guy.
These camera test are always super fascinating and makes me curious what improvements each company will make in their next iteration of Galaxy and iPhone respectively. I look forward to inevitable rematch when the iPhone 16 Pro Max comes out since it feels like these cameras are always so close in quality every time Arun compares them, but it’s the little details that makes one emerge over the other.

Just to put it out there; I love the boxy shape of the Ultra, I think it's very beautiful and very unique. It's instantly recognizable and sets apart from all the masses out there.
@kingshanaman I have exactly the opposite opinion on shape. I hate the boxy shape of the Samsung Ultra so much that I changed to the S23+ last year. I don't care about recognizability, but how it feels in the hand. I'd had enough of boxiness with the Samsung Note 20 Ultra.
The AI editing features being online and no longer free after 2025 is wild considering that this mobile costs approximately 1500€ - more than twice the amount their flagship 10 years ago, the Galaxy S5, was sold for and ten times the price normal to good mobiles had at the time (and still do). If I am paying more than 1000€ for a mobile, I better have a full editing studio available even in a remote forest in Moldova.
what an arbitrary irrelevant and entitled comparison they gave u a free bonus feature that costs thousands in AI processing power. And u complain because less capable phones from 10 years ago, which didnt have this feature were cheaper? Last years phone cost the same and didnt have any AI features. Did you lose ur mind then too
@@sebastianmichaelpaschalis2053 theres onboard local ai processing and cloud based heavy lifting AI processing. You will still get access to the localised one. Its like complaining about losing acess to a midjourney free trial. You didnt really buy it for just the cloud based AI processing that youll use irregularly its financially unsustainable to make cloud based AI eternally free, thats not how cloud based services work, otherwise the phone would be even more expensive to account for that. And the people who dont care for the service would be subsidising the cost for those who do. Giving a 1 year long trial and then those who want the feature pay for it, makes far more wider customer demographic sense. The onboard processing you can use forever, thats the key feature being marketed
Honestly, that alone was probably the determining factor in whether or not I’d buy this phone. I was loving everything else, bur losing the AI editing to a subscription service is ridiculous when you consider the price of the phone.
I agree, these Ultra phones are ungainly ergonomic disasters. I still with me Note 10, apprehensive of the day I will have to upgrade to the S25 Ultra!

As a samsung user, i think apple still has the better overall camera. There are a lot of categories in this video and samsung gathers a lot of points by gimmicks but the core experience, video and picture quality is still better on iphone. Whether it be because better dynamic range and lower noise videos or auto 24MP stills.

One trick ive noticed on my own is. If you go into the camera settings and set Intelligent Optimization to the minium setting. You can take quicker photos. It also cuts back on post processing.
Like previous camera comparison videos I find that more then half of the time with the side-by-side comparisons the opposite photo looks better to me then the one Arun picks.
That goes to prove it's more and more subjective every year. It's not 100% about which one is better objectively anymore, it's becoming about which one you as an individual prefer at this point. Just my 2 cents :)
I agree, Im 100% unbiased since I use none of said brands and have no preference but these evaluations were so skewed towards the new S24... its so obvious in the first points.
Very true many times I will be watching one of these reviewers and mentally pick my favorite before they speak and am surprised they picked the other one I do agree with him about portraits and the selfie cam though they look so good on the Samsung! And making myself look is high priority! Haha
I'll still catch some of these vids but tbh I basically see every flagship phone camera as interchangeable now. Especially now that Samsung downgraded to 5x optical zoom with the Ultra they are literally all exact copies of each other now.
I've watched many Camera comparisons of the s24 Ultra and iPhone 15 pro max from all the usual top quality TH-camrs but your content and the way you deliver it is in my opinion by far the best. Keep up the great work that you do Arun 🙌🏻
Great comparison between the S24 Ultra and the 15 Pro Max! One suggestion for the future camera battles is to change how more important different categories are. Like in this instance Samsung has the most points but the iPhone can take better regular photos and videos. So the idea is that to give more points to the categories that really matter, like 2 points instead of 1. Most people do regular videos and photos, that’s like around 70-60% of the whole experience. If we applied this, it would’ve been a draw. It makes more sense like this and gives the viewer a better conclusion. I’m not biased by Apple or Samsung, actually like what both of them do! Anyway, good work on the video Arun, keep up the great content!❤
Also, they should wait until the after release software update to come through. Or should we just sway everything in favor of Apple to appease its cult?
People get hyped over the 200mp but what people always forget is Samsungs hardware and software are made by two different companies it’s a “one size fits all”, the hardware is overkill because it doesn’t mesh perfectly, people scoff at apples 48mp but fail to realize it synchronizes beautifully with IOS because it’s made to.
The important thing to consider is the update of the Samsung camera on the official release day of the phone, which solves the processing problems to a large extent, you should have waited a few more days to do the review after the update, I think the results could have been better for Samsung
we'll probably see that update for the S25 release, hahaha. I would just expect samsubg to improve image and video quality on its next major camera update like they did with s23 series last yr. And hopefully it does bring huge improvements.
Didn't see anyone saying the same thing when iPhone was released and it had bugs like overheating everyone was like "apple rushed the 3nm and its bad" and "titanium causes problem to the iphones and the battery is not good"

About the zoom, I personally would rather have them improve the 3x lens and keep the 10x. 5x is not as much as the 10x, but now we're having two relatively similar lenses. A great 3x coupled with the 10x on the S23 Ultra would have been the better choice imo.
True, I think Samsungs goal was to increase the resolution and use the new 5x to achieve similar results at 10x, but have a much better 5x zoom (which is more commonly used than 10x) and consistent zoom experience.

12:00 pro tip for any iPhone concert videographers. When, shooting at a concert, turn down the ISO. You do this by tapping and scrolling down on the little brightness icon that shows up next to the focus box. That way your phone doesn’t get flash blinded by the lights and you can still make up the people clearly.

Really appreciate the attention to detail. The artifacts of the iPhone reflection really sux. I hope they get that right on the next phone. I would love to see them battle it out with astrophotography and other examples of long exposure images. Cheers!!
Couple things you missed out: Samsung has 1 hand mode and for the cropping thing. Samsung can do the exact same as iphone lol, it's in the left bottom corner. it even works in videos where you easly can take out a picture of a video without going into the editor mode and you can take burst mode photos which takes like 5-10fotos a second or smth with still great res
Good video but I could see without the combo segments the IPhone 15 would have had more points. I would prefer a natural shot vs a processed image to truly appreciate a scene.
He didn't talk about ProRes Log, which is incredible for professional video editing, or the spatial video that they just updated. I used the s22 ultra, I changed to iPhone 15 pro max. The Samsung camera always seemed very artificial to me, and "flattened" photos, I don't know how to explain it. On iPhone I feel like you can capture something more that I don't know how to explain. I normally edit photos, and the information that an iPhone captures is extremely incredible for good editing. For me in this comparison, I liked the iPhone more how it looked. but in the end it is up to each person, they are both excellent cell phones.
I do agree that Apple won in the most important categories like overall photo and video quality. The winner depends on person to person. Some people may give importance to the main areas of a camera rather than how good the app is designed and if it can take better slow mo videos.
This. I would hand it the the iPhone personally, I am no pro photographer but been into it since 2007 and as someone who finds themselves too lazy to lug around the DSLR, iPhone has been my choice for years. Been looking for a reason to go back to Android but I think another year or two of patience is in order lol. Just glad to see the whole Samsung saturation thing has calmed down over the years
Sure there are even better apps, but I paid like $3 for “Pro Camera” back on my iPhone 6s and still have it today if I need something better than the default offering. I found ever since my 11 Pro I didn’t really need it as much (13 Pro currently). That said, I do hope that one day Apple advances its camera app. I don’t want clutter but there’s certainly a lot of room for growth
Iphone is for instagram and blogging. But Samsung is the best for the realistic view and for Hollywood DC action type of films vision after color grading. Samsung colours are very natural so it will be easy to do color grading according to u
It's crazy how they manage to keep innovating these phones. One release and it looks perfect then another release makes the previous look bad. I have no words

A fairly major patch is dropping on the 23rd, which apparently fixes a lot of issues especially with zoom and noise.
I'll pop an update on Twitter with any changes if I notice them!

Yh your right the flat bottom on s23 ultra and the s pen saved me so many time from asking people to take pictures

I uses 100x at least once a 3 days at my worksite 😅
I've used it for figuring out what I was seeing in the far distance. Or for looking at animals and watching their behaviour.
I use it to see something far away better. But I’d take pictures but then delete them once I saw what I needed to see
I used it but not a lot because the sensor is crap is over exposed and hard to shoot with and I only shoot with it if I have to so the 5x is a clear welcome.

As a videographer, the ability to record in pro res log was MAJOR for me and no other smartphone company is currently competing with Apple when it comes to professional grade smartphone video off of that one feature alone.

its financially unsustainable to make cloud based AI eternally free, thats not how cloud based services work, otherwise the phone would be even more expensive to account for that. And the people who dont care for the service would be subsidising the cost for those who do. Loved the fact that you're doing an S24U giveaway and I want to thank you for the chance to participate in it✨️. You're awesome, and keep up the good work. Love from Kenya 🇰🇪✨️
has anyone compared each while taking photos/videos during concerts? this would really be the deciding factor for me. amazing video!!

I have to say, I've watched a couple of camera comparisons between these two and by far you've done the best. 🎉
Hmm, maybe the warmer tone and more "natural" exposure?
That goes to prove it's more and more subjective every year. It's not 100% about which one is better objectively anymore, it's becoming about which one you as an individual prefer at this point. Just my 2 cents :)
I agree, Im 100% unbiased since I use none of said brands and have no preference but these evaluations were so skewed towards the new S24... its so obvious in the first points.
Very true many times I will be watching one of these reviewers and mentally pick my favorite before they speak and am surprised they picked the other one
I do agree with him about portraits and the selfie cam though they look so good on the Samsung!
Anyway, good work on the video Arun, keep up the great content!❤
that's exactly what i have to say from previous camera comparison's that importance of some features just outweigh the others
Also, they should wait until the after release software update to come through. Or should we just sway everything in favor of Apple to appease its cult?
@@jaymac4448the iPhone lost in the video? Samsung should’ve released the update before sending it to reviewers.
I agree. I am a Samsung user and by the end I was like well ok.... It won I guess but lost in regular photos and video so... 😅😅🤷🏻♂️
@@GalaxyXYZ888🤣👍🏻
People get hyped over the 200mp but what people always forget is Samsungs hardware and software are made by two different companies it’s a “one size fits all”, the hardware is overkill because it doesn’t mesh perfectly, people scoff at apples 48mp but fail to realize it synchronizes beautifully with IOS because it’s made to.
I've been waiting for this comparison. Thank you Mr. Arun😊
Its videos like these that remind me why I think you are the best tech reviewer on the planet. Hands down top tier
I agree
The important thing to consider is the update of the Samsung camera on the official release day of the phone, which solves the processing problems to a large extent, you should have waited a few more days to do the review after the update, I think the results could have been better for Samsung
They should have anticipated this and made the update earlier?
@@Music-xp5wg😂😂Im not sure Samsung thought about it
we'll probably see that update for the S25 release, hahaha. I would just expect samsubg to improve image and video quality on its next major camera update like they did with s23 series last yr. And hopefully it does bring huge improvements.
Didn't see anyone saying the same thing when iPhone was released and it had bugs like overheating
everyone was like "apple rushed the 3nm and its bad" and "titanium causes problem to the iphones and the battery is not good"

Thanks for your cool comparison and your nice style of filming! What do you think about the 10bit 422 apple log video in comparison with samsungs post production possibilities?
Yeah, most of the things he said in this video are true, but some of it is just his personal opinion, which ruined it. The iPhone 15 Pro Max just came out 3 or 4 months ago, and the Samsung S24 Ultra came out only 1 month before this video. I personally think that's not enough time for a big review called 'Samsung S24 Ultra vs iPhone 15 Pro Max Camera Battle!' to be truly comprehensive.

I bought 15 pro specifically for its ability to shoot video in log format the way professional cameras do. I cant believe Arun doesn't mention it anywhere

this video was much sided to Samsung its not even funny. like adding the ai features category, knowing very well that the Samsung would win. nah, i didnt like this video at all
@@Couldnotcarelesslmao
@@Couldnotcarelesslmao I swear he's always backing Apple? He uses an iPhone as a daily driver too. The iPhone literally won his comparison between the S23 Ultra and the 14 Pro Max as well.
@@MaliciousAFC90 I'm talking about this specific video where he praised Samsung so much, even in places where the iPhone looked much better. And he has the audacity to say that Samsung makes videos almost as good as the iPhone, but in my opinion, the latest Samsung phone doesn't compare in video quality even to the iPhone 13.
@@Clipz_for_youu Not to mention, all those extra unnecessary AI features can literally be achieved with third-party apps. Plus, he didn't even mention the ProRes Log video capability on an iPhone.
About the zoom, I personally would rather have them improve the 3x lens and keep the 10x.
5x is not as much as the 10x, but now we're having two relatively similar lenses.
A great 3x coupled with the 10x on the S23 Ultra would have been the better choice imo.
Free 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸
With the price increased, just add another camera. 😅
True, I think Samsungs goal was to increase the resolution and use the new 5x to achieve similar results at 10x, but have a much better 5x zoom (which is more commonly used than 10x) and consistent zoom experience.
that phone is already fucking big@@deadskull888

Love your review and comparison always Arun. So means that my decision to buy S24 Ultra was quite justified at the end.
12:00 pro tip for any iPhone concert videographers. When, shooting at a concert, turn down the ISO. You do this by tapping and scrolling down on the little brightness icon that shows up next to the focus box. That way your phone doesn’t get flash blinded by the lights and you can still make up the people clearly.
thats the exposure i believe you cannot change the iso on iphones (thats me speaking from an 11pro)
same on 12 mini only exposure also I cannot set custom time exposure (ios does it by himself)@@rastislavpavlisin2248

You should do a summary battle between the two phones, with ‘Camera’ being a category by itself, with ‘UI interface’, ‘Usability’, ‘Battery’ etc…

You had me at MOON shots! A professional photographer would absolutely appreciate that feature!
Really appreciate the attention to detail. The artifacts of the iPhone reflection really sux. I hope they get that right on the next phone. I would love to see them battle it out with astrophotography and other examples of long exposure images. Cheers!!

3:36 I’ve got my answer! For front camera vlogging iPhone 15 Pro max
Couple things you missed out: Samsung has 1 hand mode and for the cropping thing. Samsung can do the exact same as iphone lol, it's in the left bottom corner. it even works in videos where you easly can take out a picture of a video without going into the editor mode
and you can take burst mode photos which takes like 5-10fotos a second or smth with still great res
This is actually a great point... Altho I'll always stick to android because of the OS, a RAW Video mode would be so helpful on the samsung
Tou can use motion camera app to take raw video, it take raw picture and combine to make raw video
You can also use Apple proRAW combined with 48 MP JPEG max.
Thats gonna blow out any smartphone cameras out there
I do agree that Apple won in the most important categories like overall photo and video quality. The winner depends on person to person. Some people may give importance to the main areas of a camera rather than how good the app is designed and if it can take better slow mo videos.
It’s why the iPhone wasn’t damaged when shot at at the end😅
But
Samsung is the best for the realistic view and for Hollywood DC action type of films vision after color grading.
Samsung colours are very natural so it will be easy to do color grading according to u
It's crazy how they manage to keep innovating these phones. One release and it looks perfect then another release makes the previous look bad. I have no words
Thanks for the comparison, Arun. I believe this is the first time I've seen a video of yours where an Apple phone loses to Samsung. I can't wait for the camera software update that Samsung announced. Should be interesting to see your review on it.
"Interesting analysis Arun ! While your breakdown of categories is thorough, considering the popularity of each category among users might provide a more balanced comparison. Giving higher weight to commonly used categories (5 points) and less to less-used ones (1 point) could offer a perspective aligning with user preferences. Just a thought! 👍"
yeah, i found myself not enjoy the video because of the unbalance
