Well then ,that said ,we shall have to have a listen I hadn't heard this since the early 80s if somebody would have told me that in the future I could listen to anything and everything that was being produced at the time buy just clicking a button on a thing called the cell phone I would of to said get outta here and stop watching them Sci-Fi movies they're turning your brain into mush
I bought this LP when it was released. Still have it. I like their stuff, and I think they are appropriately rated by my generation. Maybe people born in the 80s and later just haven't heard them?
Indianapolis, IN. 1984 The radio station Q95, Karma Records and Epic Records had a promotion on this album and this song "Back Where I Started" Karma Records had a drawing and they were going to send you and one other back to your home town for 5 days and 4 nights, if you were from IN. they were going to send you to New York, well Karma records drew my friends name out of the hopper and when Q95 called him to tell him he had won, they asked him where he was from and he said he was from Carmel, IN. and they said well we will send you to New York, he then asked them can I go somewhere else other than New York and they said where would like to go, he told them he wanted to go to San Francisco, so he called me up and told me he had won and asked me if I wanted to go, I said hell yes, they paid for the whole trip and gave us $195.00 spending money. What a great memory and the love of music got us there.
Listened to this when it was new, as a teenager with one of my best friends. This makes me think of her. We lost her to a snowmobile accident 2/6/21, age 56. I think of her every single day, and this song brings back some nice memories of her.
1985...15 years old...Saturday Night...I've left the party with collected funds and gone to the only offie open in London W11 and bought 24 large cans of lager in a crate, vodka and coke (acola...). Come out and it starts raining...torrentially, non-stop, thunder and lightning too. I have a Dixons Own-Brand Saisho Walkman with this song as the first on the album cassette. Volume up full, press play, walk the 25 minutes back to the party a man on a mission, only pausing to rewind this and play again, and again, and again.. Arrive victorious but soaked. Greeted like a God. Good times...
Thanks for this great memory -- so vividly described, the setting, circumstances, the technology of the day, the downpour storm. And just being young. I know the feeling.
Was there a drinking age in England then? Or there was but no one gave a shit? 1985 is right when they started raising to 21 across the US. And really started breaking balls about it.
Add me to the list. It's as if Dinga set alight the FrogBox beacon this time instead of the Grail. Unless it was Commissioner Gordon this time. The caped crusader usually takes a couple weeks off to head to his Maine Retreat 😉
It certainly returns you to the Yardbirds legacy. The harp, drum beat & slithering guitar. By the way, it's Jeff Beck who joins in at the tail end. His style is unmistakable & incredibly awesome. Always been a huge fan of the Yardbirds.
I remember watching MTV one morning before school and this video popped up and i came home and learned to play this song on guitar within 2 days. Badass song
What's funny is if this band came out with this song as a new release today, people would be salivating over this band. Instead, they have to put Greta Van Fleet on a pedestal. Great sound from these guys.
That's the issue isn't it? The new bands think that they can play the same sounds, or cover a popular song, and replace the original band. But if you sound like Led Zeppelin, then I'm still going to listen to Led Zeppelin over your band. If you sound like Black Sabbath, then I'm still going to listen to Black Sabbath instead of your band. Etc. Etc.
Ahh ...... the 80's .... and right in the MIDDLE of it. It's like a cool dip in your favorite pool. Just close your eyes and fly. Great tune. Cool vid.
Wow! I'll repeat W-O-W! Blowing my senses! The lead singer, John Fiddler of Medicine Head and British Lions, wanted to tour and Beck and Page were willing to go on tour as well but Dreja, McCarty, and Samwell-Smith refused. It's really a pity because they would have packed a stadium full! When Beck and Page and Fiddler heard the news the band folded. It's really a shame!
I can't imagine NOT wanting to go out on tour back then if both Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page were willing to go! Can you imagine saying "No" to that?! Crazy!
I'm proud to say I just got my first ipod and this was the first tune on it, followed by every other Frogs tune. Then Steely Dan. Then Dire Straits. Then The Stone Roses.
Wow! The person who directed this music video totally nailed it. Having a beautiful woman driving a fast sports car in the countryside to this great song is an awesome idea. Love the close ups of the girl, car and band. I remember seeing this video when it was new. It's still fun to watch. One of my favorite songs from the 1980s.
I love it when she takes the guitar from the water and presents it to john, like the Lady of the Lake retrieving Excalibur. John Fiddler grabs the guitar and immediately goes into some sick licks 2:53 (but I believe that’s Jeff Beck’s solo.)
Wow, I haven't even heard or thought of this band since the 80s. But I bought the cassette back then, and this pretty darned good song sounds so familiar. Now to play the rest of the album via TH-cam videos.
I first and only time I'd heard this song I was 12 years old, but the song sort of stuck with me, for 35+ years I'd had these little fragments of tune stuck in my head that I would hum or whistle from time to time. Then, last weekend the video appeared on Rage (Australian music show) and I was transported back to 1984 watching it late one night at my uncle's house. It blew me away, it's amazing what can trigger distant memories and how vivid they can be. I downloaded the album from iTunes and have listened to it about a dozen times in the last seven days. Brilliant.
One of the most underrated bands ever. The whole album is awesome
totally agree
Well then ,that said ,we shall have to have a listen I hadn't heard this since the early 80s if somebody would have told me that in the future I could listen to anything and everything that was being produced at the time buy just clicking a button on a thing called the cell phone I would of to said get outta here and stop watching them Sci-Fi movies they're turning your brain into mush

Both albums OUTSTANDING

It's true, not all heroes wear capes!
Good days, brother....
great story and we are the same age

Me too! Crazy.
Add me to the list.
It's as if Dinga set alight the FrogBox beacon this time instead of the Grail. Unless it was Commissioner Gordon this time. The caped crusader usually takes a couple weeks off to head to his Maine Retreat 😉

silky smooth yet soulful. John Fiddler’s voice is perfection. ✨💙✨
Road music. Teenage angst, goin out to set things right.
From those days when we were young, and we did.
Just eight bar blues, but done masterfully. This entire album is actually quite excellent.

oh Jeff Beck. Thank you. I didn’t think it seemed like something. John fiddler would play. Was wondering who did that.
✨⚡️🎸⚡️✨
I remember watching MTV one morning before school and this video popped up and i came home and learned to play this song on guitar within 2 days. Badass song
Great boogie number with the legendary Jeff Beck guesting on lead and fine harmonica from Mark Feltham.
OMG I DIDN’T KNOW JEFF BECK WAS SINGING IN THIS! Holy crap - thanks for that tidbit! 😎
@@janicesmith2475 John fiddler is the singer. Jeff Beck is on guitar.
@@daisywrabbit Oh. Well thank you!
I havent heard this song in years. Man this cooks!!!

Greta Van Fleet is the worrrrrrrrrst! Remember hearing this one on CHEZ 106 in Ottawa, Summer 1984. It’s held up remarkably well!
Greta who?
I'll never forget this song came out in 1984 I were 13 and I am African American

Thank you Jeff Beck for the memories and fantastic playing
What?
Jeff plays the outro
I believe page played on some tracks as well
I love this song back in the 80s ! People didn’t catch on to it!👍👍👍 but I DID!

Hadn't heard this in years.Really enjoying passing it around like a joint before the pandemic. Stay safe.🎼🎶🎶🎶🌿💨💙😻✌
I was rooting for the Yardbirds reforming like this. What a great comeback tune---shoulda been a hit!
much to my delight, the Yardbirds included this song on their current tours
thought I was the only person in the world listening to these guys back in the 80's. Lost that cassette years ago.
you were not alone and my 2 vinyl albums plus spotify get a Box of Frogs workout regularly. Check out Graham Parker on the Strangelands album - wow
love the harmonica in this song, the way it drifts in with a crying sound!!!!
In the navy then. Blew me away!! Awesome today as back then. Box of frogs?? Musicians jumping in n out
First time in 31 years since I heard and saw this, and it still seems so familiar.
Heard this on XM Radio yesterday..
I remember this song being played on the radio for about a month circa 1984....then it just vanished. Great tune!
Of course every yardbird fan knows the box of frogs.
I love the part in the video where he grabs the guitar from her. Excellente! Love this song 1984
May,2021. Still a damn good song. Just now and then it just pops up in my mind. Gotta hear it.
Reminds me of hanging out at benbrook lake in benbrook Texas back in the summer of 1984 :)
First heard this in 84 watching ABC Australia. Rock Arena. Still listening 😊
I love it when he snatches the guitar out of her hands!
✨⚡️🤘🎸✨
Have the vinyl. Good album. Wish classic radio would play this stuff.
Still love this song
I bought this when it first came out. Still sounds good.
I'm an old Rocker, 70 years old. I like it! Got some really nice elements!
This is one of my favorite bands. I hope others discover their music thruoug this video.
I love this band. Medicine Head is my favorite band. John Fiddler is such an amazing musician.
High school reunion song came on my mind

Nice to see a vintage TVR share the spotlight. Nice music and video.
Great playlist! Had a box of frogs on cassette in the 80s
I love this song😎
Happy Birthday today(September 25) to John Fiddler. Cheers!
First heard them while deployed on the USS Midway out of Japan....Took forever to get the tape onboard! Was worth it for this very song!
What a jam. Under the radar song! ROCK ON!
One of the great unknown bands.
Happy Birthday today(November 11) to Chris Dreja. Cheers!
I so forgot about this tune for about 20years.
I love driving my convertible with this absolutely cranked.
Reminds me why I still need to kick ass.
Riff is similar to Canned Heat's 'On the Road Again'.
Lots of great talent in this band - excellent!
Always loved TVRs
box of frogs, a gift for a few.
The yardbirds shook things up. They and the Animals were dark before dark was cool. Pioneers at a really young age.
Bought this in the 80s at a used record store, loved it, still have it on vinyl
Got the album on vinyl. This is one of my fave go to sleep songs.
Greg Carr yay
Same here.
BAD ASS SONG!!!
As a African American never stop learning
I'm proud to say I just got my first ipod and this was the first tune on it, followed by every other Frogs tune. Then Steely Dan. Then Dire Straits. Then The Stone Roses.
