How he wasn't a gigantic, in-demand, star in his prime, is just criminal. Stunning talent and musicality. Now I see why Frampton left HP. You can't shine standing next to the Sun.

Just look at the cute smiles being passed back and forth between Steve and the Blackberries. I couldn't love this performance any more. It's hard to imagine anything this good being played live on broadcast TV now.

How that voice came out of that little white guy from London who looked more like the Artful Dodger than a rock star is one of life's great mysteries. God Bless Stevie Marriott - greatest rock vocalist of 'em all!

Have you heard him recently? His voice is shot. It's an embarrassment. As a 51 year old who was blooded on the Bon era AC/DC, I think they should have thrown in the towel years ago. Rock is a young man's game. I'd prefer to be left with the magic and the memories rather than watching some creaking pensioner hobble around the stage in spandex, thinking he's still 25 years old.

500 years will pass and if humans are still alive they will look upon this era as the pinnacle of musicianship.
It was the right mix of people, personalities, vibes, and love that produced this kind of music. In that generation there was a huge tranch of people who were schooled in music through church, pianos in the house, etc..... with only 5 channels on TV, no cell phones, no Internet..... they no doubt were more focused. It won't happen again. This will never, ever, ever happen again.

I was the Road manager for a band called HOOKFOOT thru the late sixties and early seventies. We did a British Tour supporting HUMBLE PIE in 1973. One of the best times that I had! It was around the time of the ‘Power Cuts’ which made it very interesting. One of the Venues we did was South Parade Pier, in Southsea, and we had a Bomb scare! Caused by some ‘Brain Dead’ calling it in because he couldn’t get tickets due to a sellout! Those were the days.

@@cs-7 As double threat on vocals & axe, I hope history doesn’t forget it was Richards who welcomed the collaboration and Jagger who vetoed it out of personal self-interest. Which follows considering Jagger’s greatest asset to band was never his vocals but his shrewd, self-preservationist business instincts that probably understood sooner & better than anyone how deftly someone with Marriott’s chops could upstage him. That Jagger’s gain amounts to one of rock canon’s greatest losses probably never cost him a single nights sleep, but bet you every once in a while Richard still thinks about it, and feels it when he does.

It is a perfect blend of R&B with a slice of Rock music and the gutsy, soulful, Steve Marriott on vocals ....it never gets old. I miss the old days.

I actually want to thank my dad for playing HUMBLE PIE live from the Fillmore West on the weekends around the house at ear busting levels. Those of you who know what I am talking about will agree that album wasn’t a album but it was a spiritual rival. To me Steve Marriot doesn’t get the credit he is due to me he is the greatest male rock and roll vocalist of all time.

I am so grateful to have been a young teen in the early 70's. Incomparable. Great music, great artists. We had overflowing talent. And shows like TOGWT. RIP Steve Marriott, what a voice! Taken far too young. There is nothing like the scene we had then today. There occasional bright spot but generally nothing like the period '67 thru '80.
