  • LEARN HOW TO MAKE VEGGIE PAD THAI RECIPE AT HOME!
LAY HO MA!! Pad Thai is one of my favourite dishes of all time. It's got the sweet, sour, and spicy flavours packed into one easy to cook noodle dish. There's definitely a good reason why this dish is one of the most popular (if not the most popular) dishes in Thailand. Join me in this episode and learn how to make an easy vegan pad thai recipe right at home. Let's begin
    Ingredients:
    1/4lb fried tofu
    70g broccoli
    1/2 carrot
    1/2 red onion
    35g Chinese chives
    1/4lb thin rice noodles
    2 tbsp tamarind paste
    1 tbsp maple syrup
    2 tbsp soy sauce
    1 red Thai chili pepper
    drizzle of olive oil
    50g bean sprouts
    2 tbsp roasted peanuts
    few sprigs cilantro
    lime wedges to serve
    Directions:
    1. Bring a small saucepan of water to boil for the noodles
    2. Thinly slice the fried tofu. Chop the broccoli into bite sized pieces. Thinly slice the carrot into matchsticks. Slice the red onion and chop down the Chinese chives
    3. Spread the rice noodles in a pan. Then, pour in the hot water and let it soak for 2-3mins. Stir the noodles occasionally to get rid of the excess starch
    4. Make the sauce by combining the tamarind paste, maple syrup, soy sauce, and a thinly sliced red Thai chili pepper
    5. Heat up a nonstick pan to medium heat. Drizzle in some olive oil
    6. Sauté the onions for a couple of minutes. Then, add in the tofu and broccoli. Sauté for another few minutes
    7. Add in the carrots. Give it a stir
    8. Add in the noodles, chives, bean sprouts, and the sauce
    9. Sauté for another few minutes
    10. Plate and sprinkle over some crushed roasted peanuts and freshly chopped cilantro. Serve with some lime wedges

Family cooking is always better than restaurant cooking, esp since many prefabricated, manufactory food ingredients in the restaurant to mix in with everything !! Not only ridiculous, but very unhealthy !! 🥶

I just made this with a few substitutions. No smoked tofu so I bought spicy garlic tofu. No Chinese chives so I used green onion, only thing I could find near me. Medium sized rice noodles, store fresh out of thin noodles. Added 3 tbsp of maple syrup instead of recommended 1 tbsp. It needed a bit more sweetness for me. Oh I also did not have a pepper so I added a squirt of Sriracha to the sauce for the spice. LOVED IT!!!!!!

Alright, alright, I'll subscribe already lol! I can't wait to make this for my wife!
Edit: I made it tonight for dinner. (My family had such a fun experience shopping in an Asian market!) It does not taste like any restaurant pad thai that I have ordered, but maybe they use animal products I don't know about.
If I ordered the pad thai that I made, I would not order it again. But, this was my first time doing it, and I can think of tweaks to make for my palette. It was good enough, as is, to make again at home.
I bought the premade tamarind. It needs to be refrigerated after opened, and used within a month. I'll try to use it all, but I'm pretty sure I won't go through half of it. It's not a huge waste of money though, because it was only $3. I haven't watched his video on how to make tamarind, but I may go that route next, since the block will last longer.
Thank you for sharing this recipe! I'm glad I made it, and it inspires me!

Haha but I watched this, got a refresh of the recipe, remembered what I want to tweak, watched a few other videos to get some other ideas too. But I think this pointed me in the right direction. We’ll see haha

I've made this VEGGIE PAD THAI several times and really like it, however, I'd suggest 2 teaspoons (tsp) of tamarind paste rather than 2 tablespoons (Tbsp) - what do other think?

I check out other videos for the same dishes I will cook, and consistently I find that your (Yeung Man’s) recipes and methods and demonstrations and advice during the cooking to be the best, and the food is super delicious (even though I am not a talented cook). Thank you for your videos.

[Note: lime juice omitted from recipe list]
    Measurement approximations:
    70 gm broccoli = ~ 1 cup
    35 gm chives = ~ 2/3 cup
    50 gm bean sprouts = ~ 1/2 cup
