- More from Fats Domino: I Wanna Walk You Home, Jambalaya, Aint That a Shame, Walkin' to New Orleans, I'm Gonna be a Wheel One Day. In 1947, Billy Diamond, a New Orleans bandleader, nicknamed him "Fats", because Domino reminded him of the renowned pianist Fats Waller and because of his large appetite. His 1956 recording of "Blueberry Hill", a 1940 song previously recorded by Gene Autry, Louis Armstrong and others, reached # 2 in the Top 40 and was # 1 on the R&B chart for 11 weeks!! It was his biggest hit, selling more than 5 million copies worldwide in 1956 and 1957. Fats crossed into the pop mainstream with "Ain't That a Shame" (1955), which reached the Top 10. Pat Boone's milder cover version reached #1, having received wider radio airplay in a racially segregated era.

I just discovered Fats Domino a few days ago, thanks to TH-cam and I am 60….how could I have lived 6 decades without this MUSIC. There’s so much garbage infesting the ears and minds of young people today . Anyway, thank God for Fats’ gift, which he passed on to all of us.
😊

The music world is all the poorer for Fats’ passing. His smiles made his singing all the more enjoyable because you sensed that he loved what he was doing. God bless Antoine forever. Heaven has another great musician.
There is a great band on heaven now
I love Fats Domino music and would have really enjoyed to see him live, but never had the chance. Thank you for allowing us to listen and watch a legend at work.
Robert, I read once, he said he played music because it made him happy, and made the people happy. I saw him once, in England, in 1973. I'm still not cried out from his death, The Fat Man, Bo, and Hank are my lifelong favourites.
I like all Fats Domino Songs and piano playing the bedt ever

@@jirikollanyi699 uh, sure.
My family lives in Baton Rouge. Every Saturday night my parents went to New Orleans to hear him play in the clubs. I grew up to his records playing all the time. My mom played the piano for a big Baptist church. She said she had to be front row to see him when he played. They said he would sit at their table and enjoy their drinks together.
Fats put rock n roll into the boogie woogie, and he taught my mom a few good tricks.
Love this!
God rest your big loving soul Fats. My dad drank beer and listened to Blueberry Hill in the late fifties. My all time favorite song
Go Fats your the best rock King .
R.IP. Fats! 🙏🏻❤️. We’ll never forget the good times with all your songs. You will live on through your music forever! Your a legend of all times back in the day and still. 20/22 still listening to your songs! Love and light ❤️🙏🏻🤔👍

Fats was the happiest singer ever. I never him but what he was smiling. He put all his joy into his music.
"It keeps raining and raining
Tears from my eyes
Since my baby left me
I can't do nothing but cry"
And he'd be smiling away the whole time.
They were the begging of Rock n Roll ! There will never be another Fats Domino ! Are Elvis Presley ! When I died I hope I get to go where they are !
That would make for some great music!
We used to rush to the Roxy Milk Bar & check out the girls . Spent a fortune in the Jukebox 1955 playing his records to impress the girls. Times long gone in Manchester but I have taken my vinyls with me when I moved I now live in South Africa. His music & little richard, buddy holly, elvis, gene vincent, have been played during the lockdown in my street and loved by the residents in my suburb. Brings back so many great memories.
