Chorus:
Many months have passed us by
(I´m gonna miss you)
I´m gonna miss you, I can´t lie
(I´m gonna miss you)
I´ve got ties, and so do you
I just think this is the thing to do
Maybe you´ll meet, you´ll meet another guy
Understand me, won´t you try, try, try, try, try, try, try
Let´s just kiss and say goodbye (Goodbye)

I cry every time I play this. I’m 81.. it takes me back over 40 years and it still tears me up, but I find myself going back
ÁNIMO Y BUENA SUERTE, QUE DIOS TE BENDIGA Y QUE ESTA CANCION TE TRAIGA GRANDES RECUERDOS, COMO A LA MAYORIA DE LOS QUE LA ESCUCHAMOS. MEGASALUDO DESDE GUANAJUATO MEXICO. 🥊🥊🥊🥊🥊
Understandable but you made it to 81! That’s a blessing Ms. Judie, hold on to the memories n make some more! ❤❤❤
God bless you!

Cherish it. ❤. I’m happy you are feeling this nostalgia. It’s like wine 🍷
1976 this hit our charts... I was 32. It still stirs my soul. We were so lucky, we were young people during one of the best eras of music.
Generation X kid here, born June 18, 1967. I loved the 1970's! Hello from Tyler Texas U.S.A.
I was 8 years old ... I learned to slow dance to this song and to roller skate dance ...
Total y absolutamente de acuerdo 💫
Was the best era for soul music.
How many of us watched soul train ……
@@johnjohnson2855 I was barely able to watch it. Was born in the early part of 84
Still listening now.
I am 77 years old and this can still make me cry. So many memories. Where did it all go?
The dear aged 77 Ronald T Myles of 1977 and shortly before or after needs to share some of those memories with the rest of us who are unfortunate enough not to have experienced those times ... he needs to come from that 'deeper-and-higher-place' ... of what was going on back then in those times ... he needs to deliver a 'history lesson' in a way that will only be appreciated.
Look around you and you'll realize it's all in there in your mind. I too wonder where the time has gone. Good thing I have some things that continue to remind me of those wonderful times. No regrets except on. Donna.
Groove on gran pa
66 here and dont know where either...but I know I love this old jam!
this reminds me of my mom and dad seperating
In 1976 I was a 12 year old kid living on an Army base in Bamberg Germany. There was this black kid named Kurt Thomas and his friends that were older than me, that turned me onto The Manhattans and this song.....I thought it was the greatest song ever or at least one of them!! I taught myself to sing it and it saved this middle eastern American when ever I was in a jam with 'being in the wrong neighborhood' etc....the black dudes loved and still love this song too! If I was in jail etc, all I had to do was sing and other guys would ask me to sing other songs! But other than the Chanters in my church {I'm Eastern Orthodox}, it was this song [among others] that started my musical path in life....In other words, today I play blues harp and I sing because of my introduction to the bluesy songs Kurt introduced to me! Another great bluesy song from this period that I remember well, was called 'Misty Blue' by Dorothy Moore, but you know that already, right?!!😉
Wowwww Nice....let Just Kiss and say God bye....
I was 12 too...September....
that's one of the best tales of overcoming adversity I've read.
👍
It's so cool we all have memories with this song. One of my favorites. I was in middle school, didn't quite get this song till years later...a little too good. But now as a mature woman watching this, only great memories, but I see in the lead singer's eyes, face, every facial crevice says he's lived this song. Beautiful. And LOVE Misty Blue!🥰❣👍🏼
I was in Bamberg 1979
So many comments from this year, glad to see people can still find great music like this ❤
It's all there: the music, the narrative, the song, the harmony, the clothes, the dance routine... it's all there.
That complete package is missed in entertainment today..

Hello how are you doing today

"‘Kiss and Say Goodbye’ by The Manhattans is a timeless masterpiece. The perfect blend of a smooth, poignant melody with deeply emotional lyrics creates an unforgettable musical experience. The vocal performance is simply sublime, full of soul and sincerity, capturing the pain and beauty of farewell perfectly. Every note and every word is delivered with such passion that it's impossible not to be moved. The harmony between band members is exceptional, and the production of the song enhances every detail, creating a rich and immersive atmosphere. This song is a true testament to The Manhattans' talent and artistry. A classic that continues to touch hearts throughout the decades."

Lyrics
This has got to be the saddest day of my life
I called you here today for a bit of bad news
I won't be able to see you anymore
Because of my obligations, and the ties that you have
We've been meeting here everyday
And since this is our last day together
I wanna hold you just one more time
When you turn and walk away, don't look back
I wanna remember you just like this
Let's just kiss and say goodbye
I had to meet you here today
There's just so many things to say
Please don't stop me till I'm through
This is something I hate to do
We've been meeting here so long
I guess what we done, oh, was wrong
Please darlin', don't you cry
Let's just kiss and say goodbye (goodbye)
Many months have passed us by
(I'm gonna miss you)
I'm gonna miss you, I can't lie
(I'm gonna miss you)
I've got ties, and so do you
I just think this is the thing to do
It's gonna hurt me, I can't lie
Maybe you'll meet, you'll meet another guy
Understand me, won't you try, try, try, try, try, try, try?
Let's just kiss and say goodbye (goodbye)
I'm gonna miss you, I can't lie
(I'm gonna miss you)
Understand me, won't you try?
(I'm gonna miss you)
It's gonna hurt me, I can't lie
(I'm gonna miss you)
Take my hankerchief, wipe your eyes
(I'm gonna miss you)
Maybe you'll find, you'll find another guy
(I'm gonna miss you)
Let's kiss and say goodbye, pretty baby
(I'm gonna miss you)
Please, don't you cry
Understand me, won't you try?
(I'm gonna miss you)
Let's just kiss
And say goodbye

Thank you for hitting me deep. When a song can cut to the bone like this one, you know it's a timeless hit.❤❤❤😭😭😭🤟
Still listening to this day,

This is what comes to my mind when I read "speaking one to another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord;"
God is love
Storytelling at its finest
1970s: This is a good song
2021: This is a good song.

They don't make music like this anymore. Where did the romance go. The young people don't dance slow jams anymore. Thank God I grew up in that time. I have the good memories.
Already
You don't even need to be able to carry a tune these days. It's all fixed electronically
Amen to that...
yup for sure
Romance? He's singing to his side b**** that he can't keep f****** her anymore because of the ties that he has and navigation she has when I didn't stop him from f****** her first place and he's saying I guess what we done was wrong and he only wanted to turn around a look at them when she is leaving that's cuz he don't want to see her dumbass looking at him while he is laughing at her the stages song is about Romance is that song on he's f****** around with his old lady and he's telling this b**** today can't fuk around and more cuz he done moved on to next and how many times he's done this before that rap he gots to smooth he's been doing this for a minute but you call a romance if you want

I wonder who had the privilege of experiencing the 70s/80s, where they had the best musical phase of all history, thank God I was born in 1967. I respect those who came after these decades, but forgive me, this generation of today needs to know these artists who composed songs that marked history forever. From this generation, the best performers, composers, musicians and producers stood out. Today we are living in the digital age where the deficiencies of an original recording are corrected by editing software, we have more synthesized material than human. It remains to be hoped that today's compositions return to the style of vintage songs, otherwise we will only be doing an MP3 re-reading of old songs.
I made sure my kids listened to this. 70,80s rock , country. They are as eclectic as I am. X rapp though. Sorry it isn’t music. 1967 👍🏼🎵 Best year of all
I'm a 74 boy...and I grew up listening to my late dad play these songs... memories

The voices. The song. The music. The moves. Classic American. Brings back great memories.
Muito dancei de rosto colado com as gurias nas "reuniões dançantes" . Tempo lindo. Hoje: funk. Piada!
Perfect description of a wonderful song - we are so lucky to hear such great tunes
One of my favorite song ever

oh absolutely
True love is hard. Letting go of someone you love deeply because it's the right thing to do. Say your boyfriend is 33 and you are 67 . Letting him go so he can have a better life hurts but I just take my broken heart knowing he will find his own ❤️ love and live life
I still listen to the 70 music, the music from back in the days are better than these music from now ❤
Miss these old songs, nothing like them today.
There's nothing that beats an old love song
I love this song I just wish to have someone to miss
@@daisylynsimpson6573 we're in the same situation, but instead of wishing to have someone to miss, we need someone to love.
Rubens I do wish for tht too
That's because they want to disorient the populace...with disjointed nonsense. Then they can't think things through. It's been only getting worse since 1996.
