The left hand in boogie keeps the beat and does it by playing a relatively short boogie-blues in based on 3 chord patterns. Over, and over, and over and over. So left hand is not the genius of boogie, it's the bass player keeping a beat. It's the RIGHT hand doing the hard stuff, dozens of riffs at very high speed, that have to keep up with the beat. I love these Boogie Woogies ,when I was like in grade 1 my teacher will sometimes play Boogie Woogie to the class before we leave the class it was nice I kinda wanna go back to that time
#2 stood out for me. Very dynamic as he moved through a very jazzy left hand in the beginning with a blazing right hand of what I thought were the MOST tasteful licks into his boogie woogie left hand, in G too, not the usual C. He really transferred through several modes at varies speeds of boogie woogie style using various tempos rife and non-repetitive melodic licks. The others were awesome as well. The last guy is kind of the Gold Standard and he has been the top "boogie woogie" piano youtube search for years now.
As someone who knows, a steady diet of this style of playing will render your left hand useless. I've been playing this kinda stuff for a living for 30 years. For the first 20 years I was also a ballet accompanist, so I still got some opportunity for true left hand e.g.. Alberti bass, Bach, things involving ALL 5 DIGITS. Once I was replaced by a CD player at the ballet studio I went full throttle into this kind of stuff. At first my digital independence helped me, but after awhile I just let my thumb and wrist and pinky keep those pounding 5ths going as my right hand dazzled the huddled masses. Then I got into stride, nothing but thumb and wrist and pinky. The applause grew louder, and I laughed, because I knew it was buulshit. In short, I can't even play a C major scale 4 octaves at 80bpm with my left. I can fly up and down with my right, but my left will never be anything but a drummer. And I'm pretty sure my left index is showing signs of arthritis. Most likely from years of abuse and bad technique. I was never taught to play this style, I was classically trained. But I didn't have the dedication to be anything but what I am...a soon to be crippled boogie woogie bum. And that's my rant. Now who wants to hear some Jerry Lee Lewis??🤣🤣🤣
I know very little of how to play. But i could see exactly what you mean in a few of these. And i can see exactly how years of playing this style exclusively could absolutely have that affect. Sorry to hear about your left. But hey if you had a good time along the way then it isn't all bad is it?
As a pianist and a french horn player (left hand) and multi-instrumental band director, my left hand tendonitis flares up just watching this! These players are amazing and I can barely type this sentence. Enjoy your body while it lasts! And try not to abuse it, haha!
The guy in the blue hoodie is absolutely KILLING it! Holy shit to have such talent. There's something about boogie woogie that just grabs the human body, whether one likes it or not. very impressive that boogie woogie 'woogied' across the ocean, smacked these great musicians in Europe, no age restrictions. Music truly is universal. The man in Italy was amazing!
He had a more developed right hand but did not have full knowledge of what to do with the left except change the chords on time. He is still very skillful though.
I think it's really interesting to hear the different interpretations of boogie woogie from around the world. some go much higher or lower on the key board, others are much faster, but when a Yank is on the keys, it's different still. not better or worse, but different. it's super cool to hear no matter who is rocking it!
This reminds me of how classic composers used to have to write " Variations on a theme" to prove their prowess. NEVER heard Swanee River played like that before And such a young musician!!!

-Great blues sound, no mistakes and she clearly enjoys to play... I really like that
My arse, it takes years of dedication and practice. You may have a propensity to learn quicker than others but she will have worked hard for this
The talent on show is off the scale, I could listen all day
#2 stood out for me.
5:43 That 14 year old, incredible. Nice to see a kid who's obviously had training from hell on the piano but none the less still totally enjoys it
he's 25 now and still incredible
"that kid" is Luca Sestak. Watch how he's grown, and writes his own "omg" pieces : th-cam.com/video/B2xrLoBwk0E/w-d-xo.html
helloitismetomato the one before him was better

@@yvanazastrasz9013 thank you so much for linking this! Wow, it made my evening! What a pianist!
Lady V,,, The Girl With The "Mona Lisa" Smile,,, and The "Linda Lovelace" Smirk,,,, What a Beautiful Girl,,,
She's pretty, but in some of her clips, when she smiles at the camera, it sorta creeps me out a bit.
This 14yr old boy is amazing!!! Unbelievable!! Go ahead boy.
When you done learning Boogie Woogie after 3 years, the felling of enjoying when you playing it, is gonna be worth it. Not gonna lie :)
All great renditions, but there is just something so special and musical about Johan Blohm's boogie and music!
Ever notice that when you hear really good boogie-woogie that your feet start to move? Love it.
The foot automatically begins tapping when I hear this.
Lol read this comment and realised that my foot was tapping like crazy 😂
Bruh for a second i said why would someone tap is foot just to realize i did the same
Same lol
The foot loves Boogie Woogie, and we don't question The foot
BAN music effect ... broken ankles nightmare ;)
Blues and boogie woogie just speak to my heart 😍
The first Lady's Performance sound,is what made me love piano.Thank you.
Who is she?
Ladyva
Best rendition of Swanee River ever in this liftetime!
Now who wants to hear some Jerry Lee Lewis??🤣🤣🤣
this was absolutely beautiful to read
Crazy style in your writing...come on, no regrets! Now for Jerry Lee Lewis!
@@happyherbert1984 lol
I know very little of how to play. But i could see exactly what you mean in a few of these. And i can see exactly how years of playing this style exclusively could absolutely have that affect. Sorry to hear about your left. But hey if you had a good time along the way then it isn't all bad is it?
As a pianist and a french horn player (left hand) and multi-instrumental band director, my left hand tendonitis flares up just watching this! These players are amazing and I can barely type this sentence. Enjoy your body while it lasts! And try not to abuse it, haha!
What a joy to hear that young man play.
What would we do without music , it’s so good for the soul...😎
Some say reptilian aliens badly envy humans for their ability to perform arts, specially music.
@Hello Howard how are you doing
They all rock but Luca Sestak shines. Effing amazing!
The guy in the blue hoodie is absolutely KILLING it! Holy shit to have such talent.
There's something about boogie woogie that just grabs the human body, whether one likes it or not. I know people who hate everything not pop music, but I see them rocking along when someone plays a boogie woogie song lol. It's undeniable
This is music to the ears indeed! 👏👏👏👏👏 to all of these wonderful pianists!
Yea it would be great if I was given this talent but enjoy listing to greats play it
Blohm just a killer. Every time I hear his playing makes me shiver.
In what airports do these guys hang out? I need to book my flights through there. Terrific entertainment.
Harry Schoger there’s a piano at the Minneapolis airport. All I know
The cap boy is in Fiumicino Airport Rome Italy
London St Pancras (rail station) gets some fine boogie woogie:

piano in the train station of Amsterdam
@Hello Harry how are you doing
I knew Hoggie AKA Jouls Holland of Squeeze, when he was 14, playing like them.Lady at beginning and kid second to end was amazing
ooooh, sounds like you have a history with ,and don't like him!
Who, on earth, would ever give a thumbs down to this? This was great.
I remember hearing some kid in summer camp playing something like this, but it was greatly simplified. I am good at playing piano by ear, but I would find it hard to play these Boogie Woogie arrangements, as they are quite elaborate.
Amazing players! They all were so good I couldn’t pick one over the others.
Do you know boogie woogie? Do you know the blues? The blues? Do you know the blues?
Dr.K looool
😂😂😂
I can hear the high pitch english voice in my ear
filip 😂😂😂Dr. K 😂
What are you on about ?
The first gal was amazing, beautifully sustained and the break nicely executed. As always, easy does it. Bravo!
She was the worst of them.
Had no feeling. Like a robot.
5:05 the mum is dancing so sweet ^^
Do you know BoOgie WoOgie?
Dean Winchester *British accent*
Hi dean !
My god I've always dreamed of being able to play the piano but to play like these guys. well my skin is alive with goosebumps. Truly amazing.what a gift you all have,
I don´t want to be rude, but it was propably hard work for them to play this good. So it´s not a gift you can do it as well with a lot of training. Believe in yourself!
You need to try to achieve.
How can people not like this?? They are wonderful!!
very impressive that boogie woogie 'woogied' across the ocean, smacked these great musicians in Europe, no age restrictions. Music truly is universal. The man in Italy was amazing!
number 3 is a category of its own. i doubt it was completely improvised but excellent.
I absolutely agree.
Really? It was actually my least liked one. I dont know, i felt it so bland and robotic for such a... groovy style
He had a more developed right hand but did not have full knowledge of what to do with the left except change the chords on time. He is still very skillful though.
He rocked!
@Sir Arthur Streeb-Greebling This is the 14 yr old about ten years later. th-cam.com/video/adqBFQmG1Fw/w-d-xo.html
Just so beautiful that this form hasn't gone anywhere. Thank you Pinetop, Lux, Albert, Pete...
I cannot stand or sit still hearing that sounds, like most of that people! Impossible! Boogie Woogie is awesome!
Cristaldi absolutely kills it with that tune
I think it's really interesting to hear the different interpretations of boogie woogie from around the world. some go much higher or lower on the key board, others are much faster, but when a Yank is on the keys, it's different still. not better or worse, but different. it's super cool to hear no matter who is rocking it!
Do folks understand how much energy it takes to play this music. The rolling bass in this is outstanding.!!!
This reminds me of how classic composers used to have to write " Variations on a theme" to prove their prowess. NEVER heard Swanee River played like that before And such a young musician!!!
That girl nailed it,, shes got some soul in her.
Loved boogie woogie the first time I heard it and always will. Thankful that a few are keeping it alive. God Bless you
Thousands of hours of practice! Amazing talent.
Ten thousand of em usually.
This specific sounding piano makes me want to drink home made whiskey at the saloon then get into a chair fight
LOL
Absolutely agreed😂
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂😃
LOL, you sound pretty well normal, then.
I was thinking Texas Hold em' with my gun in my lap and my beer mug holding the cards down.
Amazing to watch and listen to these gifted performers. Richard in Dallas , Texas.
Howdy
The skills required to do the boogie-woogie on the piano are illusionary to me.
AMAZING UPLOAD
Thank you for sharing your gift with us. I could listen to this all day..
Ladyva, fantastic job ! The Rittmüller piano seems perfect for Boogie Woogie. Keep playing !
Luca Sestak great boogie piano player at age 14!
Even better now at 25. th-cam.com/video/adqBFQmG1Fw/w-d-xo.html
I wish my fingers worked like that.. im only 18 but ive definitely punched to many walls growing up and smoked too much weed to keep a beat...
