I was born in 86 so I remember sneaking out of bed Monday nights to watch headlines. Best part of the Tonight show in my opinion. Love there are whole compilations of these
When I arrived America about 2007, Jay Leno was still in his prime and Daniel Craig was just freshly started his first and best Bond film. I think this time was pure gold.

I agree, I would stay up late on Monday night for Jay Leno's Headlines...fifteen years ago me, my parents, and my aunt were in the studio audience of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and I thought it was gonna be a boring night. Boy was I SOOOO wrong...those Headlines were just hilarious, especially the one with the cat muzzle (it looked like something they had to put on a cat we used to have when she had to get shots). I know it doesn't look humane, but it was too damn funny. I guess my memorable trip to Hollywood to visit my aunt (my father's stepsister) triggered me to watch Jay Leno's headlines until the bitter end when Jimmy Fallon took over for the Tonight Show.
I MISS Headlines Monday nights. Grade school memories of 5 minutes of laughing before bedtime then passing them along to my buddies the next morning. The hilarious wedding names were a category of their own. :) Thanks so much for doing this compilation, one of the best videos on TH-cam! :)
I never cared for the wedding name segment myself. He should have had this on every night it never gets old. however there's probably a lotta work involved here. he hasta come up with a comment on almost every one of them. and some of those comments & expressions are funnier than the subject matter. yeah on occasion Kevin sneaks in a snide, hilarious comment himself. They made a great team. How long was Leno on after Kevin left? wow 5 more years it wasn't the same after Kevin...
I've watched these headlines over and over and I just continue to laugh so hard these were better times I miss Jay Leno so much he was so funny and so great and no one else will ever replace him
i grew up watching the tonight show. mom and dad watched it every night, especially good during jr high and high school i could stay up later and watch conan after jay leno.. good times
I sent something in that Jay had on the show. I was doing crossword puzzles and I noticed before I started a new one, it had a 4-letter answer and the clue was “Leno has a big one.”
What makes these so great is Jay's comments. this guy is hilarious with his delivery, expressions. When he was kicked off the show I never watched another one.... the end of an era & NOT replaceable.
Johnny Carson was, too. Before him,Ed Sullivan show had been on. Way before my time. Born in '73. I remember the days when anyone could listen to the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on the clock radio! Without ever turning on the TV. Those were good time LS for me.
I really can't believe some of those wedding names. Some of those last names are unbelievable to begin with but then they somehow found each other and happened to have found each other and have a weird combo of last names.
Weird names are not that unusual. Where I live I’ve found a few people whose last name is the German word for fox. I’m afraid to say their name because, you know. Names like Hickey, Butts, and Colon are somewhat common too. Then I’ve learned some middle eastern women have the name Negar, which I think is pretty in their languages but English speakers would hesitate to say aloud. My name would end up on Headlines if I ever did anything worth publishing in a newspaper.
@@channarosenblatt8197 Not really. Late night now is all politics. A bunch of wanna be Jon Stewart(s). (Whom I have never found to be that funny/interesting to start with.)
My own opinion. The Tonight Show is now just a shadow of it's former self. It brought a little life and laughter to us late at night. Nice mindset before a night's sleep. Thanks Johnny & Jay.
In the previous comments people talked about the "newer, younger audience" that Fallon appeals to...I'm not so sure, because it seems that Fallon's Tonight show is like Seth Myers' show that follows it - it serves largely as a means of promoting other Lorne Michaels produced programming, and also to promote the various projects that past and present SNL cast members are involved in. Take a look at an average month's worth of guests on both Fallon's and Myers' shows; sometimes as much as 1/3 of their shows' guests are either past or present SNL cast members. That's the biggest difference between late night TV in 2007 and today - Lorne Michaels and Broadway Video's direct involvement in it.
James Corden is more tolerable. The rest of them engage in too much politicking like nothing else is going on in the world. Goes to show how bad late night comedy writers are these days.
I think Jay milked the bit too much. If the bit is funny, allow it to be funny. The buildup, the "after explain"... It's NOT supposed to be about Jay being funny. He's not doing stand up. It's supposed to be about funny HEADLINES. If they're funny, they should be funny with NOBODY reading them. A great demonstration is when he says "I'm not even gonna read this one". That's always the funniest one in the bunch. But then again, some people want more explanation of the joke to get the humor. Takes all kinds.

"It's G spot barbershop. It's funny how men can find the place!"
Me: LMAO SO TRUE!
I love headlines! They are my "lullaby".
For me too. Then…and now. In 2024. Sheesh…
I'm an Aussie and what gets me is this wasn't that long ago and check out the normality.. No racism.. Folks just being folks.. I really hope you guys can get back to normality and yeah Jay leno is great
In the US, comedy has become culturally entrenched with politics. It happened so gradually most did not notice. I’d estimate we are about 20 years out for any change at this point, but I’ll be right here.
I still love Jay! He was the absolute best!😂
Jay, you were the best, I miss you!
I agree! Jay was so good on the tonight show; headlines, 99 cent store, police blotters, and my fave, when he & Terry Bradshaw would pick at each other! Miss Jay, I quit watching when he left, cant Stand fallon!
The wedding names are just hilarious! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I never cared for that segment myself. Maybe its just a male thing.
2 of my teachers were featured on that segment. Laura Sharpe and Stan Harder.
