I would love to see more of these types of tutorials. It's pretty amazing that the software could deal with the difference in the waves in each shot so well. Thanks for the tutorial!
Great instructions thank you! 👍🏻👍🏻 I love the fact that you are clear and concise in all your videos and you don’t waffle like so many others do. So thank you for not wasting our time. 👍🏻👍🏻 I’m watching a ton of yours now.
It wouldn't. In order to follow what he's doing you need to be able to see the entire photo. If he flipped it the small box would be covering about 20%of the screen
@@phorner1983 He means, putting the screen as the main video. And the camera of him as the small video. This is a good point, and I was thinking the same thing.
Just picked up a Mini as my first drone, thank you so much for all of your informative videos. I haven't been able to fly too much with recent weather and work, but I've been doing general TH-cam searches, but yours keep being the most informative and clear on all of the subjects.
Yes, Aldryn, we enjoyed this tutorial very much. I do that same technique with my Mavic 2 pro for my panoramas, because I Am more in control of the results, than when I use the auto mode. I hardly ever use Lightroom. I use Photoshop all the way for a process like this. To correct the warp in your panorama, you could have done: Shift/Command/R. It is frequently possible to get the same results through different routes, in photoshop (not that the results would have been any better, just a comment). Thanks for this video!
Thank you for sharing your secrets into panoramic and post production work done. This is the type of tutorial I've been looking for, and hope to see some more.
Aldryn, please keep this post production instructions coming, and perhaps offer a course on-site for live questions. Getting large prints for the wall is harder than I, most people, imagine. Wondering what colour-space that you edit in for your print lab, and how you calibrate your monitor for print work, print proofing etc. D55, D65, sRGB, ?? Thanks for all !!
I use free Microsoft Image Composite Editor to stitch photos together. It's stupid simple and it lets you do advanced stuff. I have created images greater than 100 megapixel. It can create panoramas from video.
I have Lightroom and Photo Shop For my still photography... does anyone Know if MS Image Composite Editor is easier to use? I find LR And PS difficult if you don’t use it weekly.
I like it as well. The new version now does a pano from video. In C mode, spin around three times stopping only to change the angle of the camera. That will give you an amazing 360.
I used to do this type of thing with lesser cameras years ago. I've ordered a mini yesterday and am absorbing as much as I can. I'd never thought of using a drone to do this. Love the rest of your content too thanks! Now can't wait for my mini to arrive!
Hey great vid thanks for the tutorial 😁 Just a thought.. instead of rotating and tilting the gimbal on the the mini could you have strafed sideways and changed your elevation for more accurate shots to eliminate the warping pre-merge? I know the mini holds its position very well that's all 😁
I have always been a video guy, and have never done any panoramic photos before. You have tempted me to maybe attempt this. BUT before I attempt this with the Mini. I will first use my Mavic Pro or Mavic 2 Pro to automate the photo taking, then maybe after some practice this way, take the Mini out and try it. Great tutorial video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks again for all your great hard work. Unfortunately I don’t know how to use a sophisticated video editor. I’m a complete rookie at video editing. I just bought my Mavic Air 2 about two weeks ago and completely new to it. However, I appreciate all your work. I’ve watched a ton of your videos prior to receiving my MA2 and they were extremely helpful. Before my first flight I was confident about setting up my MA2. Everything went flawlessly. Once again, thank you for your great work. It’s people like your that make hobbies worth getting into. May a god bless you for your dedication to helping others. Mike.....
Hello Aldryn, WOW, outstanding tutorial that can be used with any drone. Truly appreciate these types of tutorials that can help beginners like myself learn more about editing and production! That panorama turned out excellent, thank you for your continued outstanding content, take care!
Thanks for this video! I wasn't sure how to do this and with your help I got some amazing shots this weekend. Well worth the trouble. (And Lightroom is surprisingly good at figuring out how to stitch the shots together though you have to fiddle with which projection styles to get it to look "best".)
great content, pls make sure that the portion for the face in the video is smaller and the screen part that shows the real edit take the majority of the space available so that we can see clearly what you are trying to explain
Well done, Aldryn. Good tutorial -- I thought it was very valuable. Looking forward to a trip in the future and I'm already planning some golden hour shots of an amusement part on a pier. This is gonna really help me with that! Thanks for putting this out.
Lost my dji spark trying to film the christmas tree at the end of the pier friday night, which led me to your videos and now getting the mini for xmas 😂🙌 full circle
Aldryn, Fantastic video. I shoot panoramas all the time with my DSLR and Mirrorless cameras and in fact teach the process to our photo club members. My mini comes in today so I can finally get it up in the air in the next day or so. From countless tests in the past I can verify that using Photoshop 2020 over Lightroom Classic will give you better results, but both produce great results (make sure you have ghosting on to remove objects movement differences between images). I did not think of using the mini for pans, but now it will become a staple. Thank you.
You made that look easy. Like the theory of relativity. I just realized that the Mini I just got doesn't even have a zoom let alone a panoramic built in. You are very skilled.
Nice video I learned a lot, have been since I found you on TH-cam. And just got my mini also, learning to fly first but taking some pics and video too. Great job thu.
i'm a 360 photographer and ordered a Mavic Mini for 360 aerial pics. for now i'm gonna merge everything manually, but I hope they would add the auto feature in the future. Not to have an already ready photo, but it'll shoot enought pics automatically so i can work on them manually later. at least i'd need less time than shooting manually and for sure i'd not need to take 45 pics for a spherical pic.
@Primus at 69 and shot practically everything, I fondly remember "back in the day" with Apple's QTVR Panos and Object VRs with Apple Quicktime Editor's Workshop coding. Fun!
Thank you for the great tutorial. I only just received my Mavic mini and can confirm I have zero drone and zero photography experience previously Lol. I am however loving my first flight experience with my kids and now I know how to start taking awesome photos. Cheers for the advice from Australia 👍
What are your thoughts about the motor protective cover for the DJI Mavic Mini? The wires for the motor in the propeller area are exposed. My concern is the cover may prevent heat from dissipating after a long flight. Interested to find out your thoughts.
Thanks for your thoughts in creating panoramas with the Mavic Mini! A very helpful video ... keep this type of video coming ;-) One thought, as someone who never uses Lightroom, I'd skip the pre-processing in Lightroom and instead select my photos and merge them into a panoramic image using Photomerge in Bridge and Photoshop. No need to use the less powerful Lightroom to do this and no need to transfer to another program to do the "unwarping steps". Just a thought ;-) I also use ON1 Photo Raw (now 2020) to do lots of my image processing.
amazing tutorial, I was on the fence about buying the Mini primarily for photography and your tutorial finally convinced me...btw, a wedding photographer Ryan Brenizer does this with portraits (also called the Brenizer method) to achieve some rather interesting results
Really good tutorial, thanks. Do you do one that explains how to straighten things like the pier *in more detail*? Very keen to be able to do this, but thought it was a little rushed at the end.
There are many people who can produce videos on you tube, and then their are those who can, coach, and teach with just the perfect ability. Thank you.
Lovely and informative video! Thank you!
I would love to see more of these types of tutorials. It's pretty amazing that the software could deal with the difference in the waves in each shot so well.
Thanks for the tutorial!
It's nice that the Mini's battery life allows the time to compose the shots so you don't feel rushed.
Exactly
It's nice you get 3 batteries in the fly more combo too
Very professional presentation, you demonstrate that more can be done with

Hey Aldryn, while editing the pic it would have been way better to put the pic on full screen and you in the box!
