Turning 75 tomorrow and my son gave me the combo kit as a present. Been watching your video, 3 of them at least, to get a feel for this. I was a helicopter crewchief/maintenance supervisor for my first 12 years of my career during the 60's and 70's, so the mini lets me relive some of my best days flying in a huey. I'm getting ready to take my first solo in my driveway, and I just wanted to say that your videos has taken off a lot of the apprehension i've had. Mahalo.

Question. If I make changes within the app. ( camera and video settings ) and put the drone away for a week or so. Do I have to go back to the app or does it save my initial settings ?

and...late to the party. Took a break from rc nitro helis for >20 years. Wallet was thankful. Decided to try something easier, satisfied with DJI for now. Was trying to figure if the DJI Fly allows flight plan. Thought not. Bought Dronelink yesterday and watching videos to figure out how that one works. Only concern about it, is if it operates with dji safeguards, like RTH for one. Anyhow, I have a Mini and have flown it without app, because that is what I'm used to. Also got the FPV, which I'm holding off flying until I get some practice with the Mini. Watched your video on the Mini First steps. Now back to look at the DJI Fly. Thanks for the videos and hard work it takes to produce these. I was laughing at the flight restrictions around your house, and then I pulled up my area on the Fly app. Not so funny for me either. I'm in the middle of nowhere, and just close enough to the airport. At first I thought the restricted airspace was over my house. When I zoom in on the app, it is showing the airspace extends to a location, approximately two blocks over. So ha. Trying to pick a field to practice in, where I won't get disturbed, or be subject to drone Karens. As far as I am from any cities...there hopefully isn't any around.

Suffice to say the knowledge and information that you so kindly provided it so important and indeed massively appreciated. Thank you very much indeed for sharing this info...I generally dive into kit head first. This time it'll be steady away. I once drove tower cranes...The crane's that one sees on top of sky scrapers etc. It was so long ago. But the controller's for left and right trolley out trolley in lower block and chains! Raise block and chains. Be aware of surroundings etc. Pre work crane check etc.....Will hopefully come in handy in a strange kinda way if you see what i mean.....Stay safe in these uncertain time's.cheers mate. Hi great video just picked up my drone and have flown it 3 times so far. I find it difficult to pair the transmitter and the drone unit can you please comment on what is the best way to turn these two units on and have them quickly ready to go? it seems that if I just press the power button once they don’t connect to the iPhone app and I have to hold down the power buttons. If that’s a way to do it then how long should I be holding the power buttons for? Thank you in advance for the answer
Hello aldrin, do you know if the mavic mini will fly out straight out of the box regarding NFZ... I live in anchorage and pretty much a no fly zone unless I go out of the city and I constantly apply for a self unlocking zone in my area. I used to just fly out from my house now it’s locked up to NFZ unless you apply for self unlocking. I appreciate you answer. Thank you, I don't want to buy not knowing if I will be stock in the same scenario with my spark and mavic pro.

I can only speak from having the spark, but I imagine is the same. The drone should start returning home automatically when it reaches the low battery point (that you can costumize)
Hello, i calibrated my dji mavic mini outside, the imu and compass. It said all complete. So im guessing its done. When i fly it indoors i get 6-10bars of connection. Is that normal for flying indoors or is it not normal?

Is this a case related to the application or the drone itself? If it is related to the application, is there (already) an update track to integrate this mode?

Here is another question... I see the smart charger is some kind of multi voltage output USB for home use. Are we able to charge the flight batteries on the go in the car with a standard 5v output USB source ?
Can you lock the exposure in video mode just pressing the "AE" next to the lock icon, at the top right? It could be useful if you are changing views...

If i set the return to home height at 100ft and take off from a high cliff, then drop 200ft over the edge and hit the return home button, will the drone climb 300ft in total or just 100ft from the position it was when i this the return home button and crash into the cliff face 😳
I have my DJI Mavic Mini already almost 1 week but cant fly it because the drone needs to be activated via DJI FLY app so i can used with the controller also, the thing is that the QR codes that the manuals have to download the app, does not works and send me to the DJI store.so i have to wait till the 11th.Maybe would you be kind and share a cipy of the beta app you have in hand so i can at lease test it to see if is working until the final one comes to be available for download? Another question, does you know if flight plan will be part of the app? Thanks.
Wow congrats on getting it a week early. From what I know the app will be available next week. Maybe ask whoever you got the mini from early if they have the app.

It seems to me that I once heard about a problem with old DJI that with Android when connected to the remote control while it was feeding the cell phone and wasting the battery to the control. I got really excited about the Mavic Mini after watching a few video's here on YT, I even ordered one. Sadly I had to cancel that order due to the fact that I did not know that DJI FLY doesn't run on just any smart phone. You'll want to check out their (DJI) website for the list of compatible smart phones. Most newer apples will work along with most newer Samsung Galaxy's. I have an LG X power that is not able to even install the app. I'm looking into other options, I'd still love to learn to fly one of these little boogers. Looks like a lot of fun....Best Wishes

Is it possible to lock the exposure on the Mavic Mini? Sadly no manual control in video mode, though exposure lock would at least make the footage usable considering the price.
What video setting yields better video quality for 1080 final video, shooting natively in 1080 or doing 2.7K and downscaling? Especially for subjects with lots of movement such as flying with camera facing down or waves or similar. Is the max bit rate 40M available for 1080 or just for 2,7K?

Very useful video, THANK YOU. In all the videos I noticed that there is no Course Lock mode or similar. There is no way to make it fly parallel to the subject when the drone is oriented at 45 ° to the subject. You can confirm?
I am having a nightmare trying to download the app even though the site says my tablet is recommended . The app says my tablet is not supported . Crazy and pissing me off .

My very last question, does imu and compass affect gps signal. Like on average a person has 15 bars. ( in the top right of the screen those bars with the number on it)
I am here in SD as well in Linda Vista by USD and have an awesome view to play with. After many years after the loss of my Phantom Standard, I finally had a chance to at least get the Mini. I love the Mini even more than the big bird. This was helpful for sure. Would love the opportunity to ask a few other questions to you for bartering or cash.

To make it more clear to you, you have to see the screen shot at 15:57. The country map on the right side as example. I get the map of The Netherlands, that is correct. But on the right below I have some Chinese characters (0) ?? (On your map it is Find My Drone) And when I press the "i"-button on the right side I get only Chinese characters for settings ON/OFF. How can I change that to Dutch language ? My profile Country/Region is set as Netherlands so that is ok. Best Regards, Robert

In the app, you are showing a Shortcuts menu in the menu bar in front of safety. I don't see that. Is that in the current app? Something you somehow enable ? Or only on iPhone ? (have android)

Indoors u prob don’t get any bars. GPS does not work indooors

im thinking it wont be available until the mavic mini is officially shipped out which in the US is nov 11th

Steve, you. can go to Craigslist and purchase a newer iPhone for a few bucks. It's worth it to fly the Mini.

In video mode is it possible to adjust the EV and then press AE to lock on that exposure value? That's important for some shots

Am soo confused.. and Ive been watching videos if this should setup the rc with the drone open or if it has to download the app first.. i dont know what should be the first-frist thing to setup. This might be a stupid question but what is the timer timing up in the upper right corner? I thought this was just a countdown timer but it fluctuates?
Is it possible to lock the exposure on the Mavic Mini? Sadly no manual control in video mode, though exposure lock would at least make the footage usable considering the price.
What video setting yields better video quality for 1080 final video, shooting natively in 1080 or doing 2.7K and downscaling? Especially for subjects with lots of movement such as flying with camera facing down or waves or similar. Is the max bit rate 40M available for 1080 or just for 2,7K?

In all the videos I noticed that there is no Course Lock mode or similar.
There is no way to make it fly parallel to the subject when the drone is oriented at 45 ° to the subject.

I am having a nightmare trying to download the app even though the site says my tablet is recommended . The app says my tablet is not supported . Crazy and pissing me off .

Where did you get the tablet mount for the controller? Also can I use USB C both my phone and my tablet are USB C I see you have a cable Tethered to a tablet I'm hoping that means there is a USB C cable available?
I see the tablet mount in the description but it does not lift mini are you using the ones in that shop? And it fits the mini no problem?
Can the mavic mini app be downloaded to the crystalsky I like using it more then my phone.

If I fly a mini with iPad mini4 WiFi is my height and distance shortened since I’m not using. A phone. I don’t own a phone at this time but I’m looking at a prepaid iPhone option for low monthly plan

I am a bit confused. Does this device have automatic return to home (like the larger models) when the battery is near depletion? Or must I call it home manually with the RTH button? Thanks. This looks like something that a 75 year old novice can do. But I would not want to lose my drone.

I have a question about my DJI fly app. How do I get my profile flights to show in feet and miles? It’s showing in meters. My drone is set up for feet and miles.
What do you make of some of the videos showing the MINI crashing down to the ground? Def user error or some times, these things just happen? Any of your DJI drones fall from the sky under perfect conditions in weather and your app updated and settings done correctly?

My very last question, does imu and compass affect gps signal. Like on average a person has 15 bars. ( in the top right of the screen those bars with the number on it)

I am here in SD as well in Linda Vista by USD and have an awesome view to play with. After many years after the loss of my Phantom Standard, I finally had a chance to at least get the Mini. I love the Mini even more than the big bird. This was helpful for sure. Would love the opportunity to ask a few other questions to you for bartering or cash.

I have a problem with the DJI Fly App and that is the following.
To make it more clear to you, you have to see the screen shot at 15:57. The country map on the right side as example.
I get the map of The Netherlands, that is correct.
But on the right below I have some Chinese characters (0) ?? (On your map it is Find My Drone)
And when I press the "i"-button on the right side I get only Chinese characters for settings ON/OFF.
How can I change that to Dutch language ?
My profile Country/Region is set as Netherlands so that is ok.

So I have been trying to access the different flight mode features on my phone. I click on the film icon above the big red button but nothing. What do I do.
Can any downloads be done thru your phone, once the dji fly app is downloaded to your phone? Also is there a headless mode on the Mini Mavic?

In the app, you are showing a Shortcuts menu in the menu bar in front of safety. I don't see that. Is that in the current app? Something you somehow enable ? Or only on iPhone ? (have android)
