For a newbie what's the best way for me to do a two-toned look for my rims? I have chrome inserts and want to color those different. Also after dipping, obviously with care, how easy is it to mar the dip b u putting the wheels back on?
thank you so much... I want to plasti dip the eddie bauer tan trim on my expedition and I have been debating wether to take the trim off and dip it or try to mask it off. After seeing your video I took some index cards and stuck them between the body and the trim and its PERFECT! Im going to use the same technique on my wheels when I dip them as well.
Your Army endorsed Ohio licence plate. And here are a few other reasons: I am Ex Army, you drink energy drinks like every other soldier, your way of instruction, your attention to detail, my situational awareness is at lvl 9000, and you ride choppers. : )
nice video! How much plasti dip cans did you use? How much plasti dip do you think ill need to dip just the lip of my Method Double Standard wheels? thank you
did you spray the inside wall like be hind the rim if you understand what im asking? and do you have to re balance your wheels when putting them on or just putting them back on be alright?
another question for ya, actually a few, I taped of my hood scoop area, rear bumper and top of my spoiler, Am i supposed to cut a line between the tape and plasti dip whith like a credit card or something like that while the dip is still wet? (because the tape bonded with the dip lol) and when i was finished instead of being a nice smooth finish it felt almost like grip tape on a skateboard.
what do you do with the lung nuts? i have chrome ones and wanting to have all black. i think that if i use the air impact to put them on after dipping the nuts that it'll just scrape off with impact. would you just buy a new set of black lugs?
Does it get on the inside of the rim ? If some plastidip gets behind the front face of the wheel, is it easy to peel it off as it won't be thick? For four 18 inches wheels, about 2 cans should be used + 1 light coat ? Thanks
I'm getting ready to plasti my rims but I'm wondering what do u do with the lug nuts? Paint them off the car or do u put them on after u dip your wheels and then dip the lug nuts? I just wasn't sure if the wrench would mess up the plasti dip once u put it in the lug nuts
@UWISHPROD nice im doing mine white. White plastidip is weird for me though. i applied 4 coats and let them dry completely and touched up on the 5th coat. if you look close its not a very smooth finish. did i do something wrong? also have you tried the glossifier i was wondering how that stuff works. Thanks!
if you spray this on factory hubcaps like example my Ford hubcaps how easy is it to get off if I goto sell the car does it just peel off? I am not trying to sound stupid I have never tried this.
Nice vid. Do you remove the index cards immediately after spraying so the PlastiDip doesn't cure to them and the rim, or after everything is dry and complete?
So something i have been confused about do you only paint/dip the outside parts of your wheels and just leave the inside as is or is it optional to do the whole thing?
I have a truck that gets driven in the winter in canada so the salty roads have ate at my rims a little bit. was wondering if this stuff would still work on them with the pitting of the rims? Thanks.
hey just got a question, i did a center cap prior to the rims just as a trial. i believe i went too heavy, is the finished product supposed to be smooth because mines a rougher texture but like i said i believe i went way to thick compared to what i just say you apply. seems like i captured some tiny air bubbles which caused the rough texture
I like the fact that you actually took the rims off of the car. There are so many videos out there of idiots painting the rims on the car which to me is pretty stupid because you need to get past the lug nuts. I have a question though. I painted my rims just like you said and I definitely have a good knowledge of painting and proper technique. When I put the rims back on, one of my lug nuts actually peeled some of the plasti dip off and I ended up having to peel off and start all over. What would you recommend to keep this from happening again?
How about vibration do you get any out of the wheels? I mean plasti dip has a texture similar but not as agressive as line-x..so it never goes on completely even. Has this effected your ride or given any wheel wobble or vibration??
Will plastidip work on old rims? I have a 1988 BMW 325i and I like the wheels but they're very dull and need a touch up. Do I need to treat them with something first or will applying plastidip over the dullness suffice? All the videos I've seen have basically been spraying products on pretty new/nice looking rims.
question.. this may be dumb but I am new to all of this. If plastidip just peels off, what kind of top layer coat do you put on the rims to maintain an even layer and making sure rocks/debris do not peel it off on the road?
Great video. Wondering what methods can be used for cleaning after the plasti dip process finished and in use - again wondering about cleaning wheels/paint, etc.
hmmm :/ alright ill try it again thats what i did the first time and it made the edges horrible but meh it was my first time, would you recomend having some air flow so that the particles dont fall back down into the dip?
I have a light yellow bronze color wheel and I want to platidip it black. Do I have to spray plastidip on the interior of the wheel walls? Or just the outside and the lip only?
Can you use something else besides the index cards? Maybe paper or tape? I'm about to do some rims on a 2013 chrysler 300....any ideas on how to get them clean? or just windex, wipe down and spray?
@FeelinGipper I would suggest spray through the top like i did and make sure it goes into the inside of the rim. But no need to flip rim and paint inside.
How do you clean road grime and dirt that accumulates on the rims from normal driving? Obviously you don't want to scrub them with anything. Do you just spray them gently with a hose and that will get it off?
@FeelinGipper I have yet to find it in a spray can. I know they make a kit where you can create your own colors but that is for dipping objects in. Hopefully in the future they have it in a spray can.
"I'm a little thirsty.... Thats pretty good." hahaha... quality acting.
Haha! i realized that too
Thats how I roll
Love the product placement at 1:22 ahah
damn! Those index cards are ingenious, I'll probably end up using that technique in the spring.
YOu just made my day kind sir. Well played.
wow that was a really corny sell out
terrible at advertising that drink. makes me feel awkward watching it. you just stop talking randomly and grab it?
Great video, I'll definitely be trying this once spring comes. I may try construction paper instead of the index cards though, just seems quicker.
love your work, thanks for the video.
Its people like you on youtube why I enjoy it lol
Nice job, man. Thanks for doing this.
Your idea with the cards is fantastic, i always had problems to protect the rims with tape xD
ill watch em. i watch everything im subscribed to.
Nice...came out good.Got a grand Cherokee how many cans would you think?
I never thought of the index card idea. That was genius!
Are you suppose to do other side of the rim or just the front and sides of rim?
No not really! But if you want to then your gonna have to spend more $$$ on the plastidip spray
Love the index card idea, def. going to do that....thx man.
For a newbie what's the best way for me to do a two-toned look for my rims? I have chrome inserts and want to color those different. Also after dipping, obviously with care, how easy is it to mar the dip b u putting the wheels back on?
Good video man, would glossing them be a good idea or could I just leave them the way they are after plasti dipping them
How long does this last (and still look good) before you have to touch it up or redo it?
thank you so much... I want to plasti dip the eddie bauer tan trim on my expedition and I have been debating wether to take the trim off and dip it or try to mask it off. After seeing your video I took some index cards and stuck them between the body and the trim and its PERFECT! Im going to use the same technique on my wheels when I dip them as well.
i like that idea man u film this in fort stewart ga looks identical to my garage when i was there

Awsome idea about the index cards man. Thanks
Is it the more coats you put on the darker the black becomes? And how does plastidip compare to spray paint in conditions like rain, dirt, and snow?
nice video! How much plasti dip cans did you use? How much plasti dip do you think ill need to dip just the lip of my Method Double Standard wheels?
thank you
Hi nice video and i have some 240sx stock rims how many cans of plasti do i need to paint them ?
hey bud great video. one question how does this stuff hold up to normal driving wear and is it sturdy enough to stand up to a power washer? thanks!!
The index cards, great idea man! Thanks
did you use any degreaser or anything to clean up the wheels? is there a reason you only let it dry for 5 min between coats?
did you spray the inside wall like be hind the rim if you understand what im asking? and do you have to re balance your wheels when putting them on or just putting them back on be alright?
Thanks for the index card idea helps a lot
Did you let it dry between coats? Also Plasti dip has a very slight texture to it since it is rubber.
How do I connect up a truck horn (wolo 417) to my existing car horn j have a 2000 ford explorer
thats somthing amazing ,,,,,dos plasti dip mix withg thinner or its coming ready 2 use ?
I was wondering how would you do a 1990 Ford F -150 wheel. It has removable lips and centers and I'm not sure how to go about it.
Thanks for the Vid. What prep work do you reccomend before the spray?
another question for ya, actually a few, I taped of my hood scoop area, rear bumper and top of my spoiler, Am i supposed to cut a line between the tape and plasti dip whith like a credit card or something like that while the dip is still wet? (because the tape bonded with the dip lol)
and when i was finished instead of being a nice smooth finish it felt almost like grip tape on a skateboard.
do you have to take your tire off to apply it or can you just do it (obvi covering the brakes and what not
did it bond to the index cards? did you have problems when removing the cards?
what do you do with the lung nuts? i have chrome ones and wanting to have all black. i think that if i use the air impact to put them on after dipping the nuts that it'll just scrape off with impact. would you just buy a new set of black lugs?

I have a question. My Audi wheels have a plastic like coating on them how do I get it off cause its shiny underneath it
if you spray this on factory hubcaps like example my Ford hubcaps how easy is it to get off if I goto sell the car does it just peel off? I am not trying to sound stupid I have never tried this.
Would you recommend doing a layer of Poly after the PlastiDip for a better shine/ protection?
Also if it comes off so easily does that make it prone to being scratched off or damaged?
Hey just wondering if you painted the back ( if you'd call it that? ) part of the rims aswell. I'm keen to try this on my new Mazda MPS
Nice vid. Do you remove the index cards immediately after spraying so the PlastiDip doesn't cure to them and the rim, or after everything is dry and complete?
thank you, what car are this on? if you dont mind me asking
So something i have been confused about do you only paint/dip the outside parts of your wheels and just leave the inside as is or is it optional to do the whole thing?
I'm wanting to plasti dip my stock wheels on my 02 Tundra but, they are balanced. What can I do to get around that?
I have a truck that gets driven in the winter in canada so the salty roads have ate at my rims a little bit. was wondering if this stuff would still work on them with the pitting of the rims?
Thanks.
Now when you plastidip, do you have to do the inside of the wheel too, or just the front surface?
Awesome video man, Is there point in dipping behind the rim? Not directly behind the spokes but the visible part behind?
hey just got a question, i did a center cap prior to the rims just as a trial. i believe i went too heavy, is the finished product supposed to be smooth because mines a rougher texture but like i said i believe i went way to thick compared to what i just say you apply. seems like i captured some tiny air bubbles which caused the rough texture

How do you do the entire rim? Also, when you peel it off does it harm the original finish?
What happens when its time to change the tires? Do you have to remove and re-apply??
That is a brilliant idea...wonder if youtube would let me upload that
How about vibration do you get any out of the wheels? I mean plasti dip has a texture similar but not as agressive as line-x..so it never goes on completely even. Has this effected your ride or given any wheel wobble or vibration??

Do you do the inside of the rim aswell? like behind the front of the rim?
im thinking about protecting my chrome wheels during the winter from road salt with plasti dip.... do you recommend?
How many cans did you use for all 4 wheels
Hey mate, do you know if you can spray plasti dip over wheels that have already been painted with 2pac paint?
I cant wait to do mine!
how good would this stuff be on 4wd rims, i drive a lot in the mud and crap
question.. this may be dumb but I am new to all of this. If plastidip just peels off, what kind of top layer coat do you put on the rims to maintain an even layer and making sure rocks/debris do not peel it off on the road?

Do they come already on a can or do u have to make it? N thanks for answering my question!
Ik you put the link to plastidip com but there is also dipyourcar com is that a legit website that i can buy the plastidip from?
Thanks for the vid helped me a lot
I have a light yellow bronze color wheel and I want to platidip it black. Do I have to spray plastidip on the interior of the wheel walls? Or just the outside and the lip only?
Well played sir, well played.

What do I cover the index cards with so they don't get covered in Plasti-Dip? Thanks!
how would you prepare the rims for plasti-dip, do you sand and clean, and do you also need primer?
hey i got a question. how many coats would i do on chrome rims?.
I think thats a great idea since it will help protect the rims and its removable
My wheels have some rust on them. Do you think it will still work?
Do you have a video for doing the whole car?
How do you clean road grime and dirt that accumulates on the rims from normal driving? Obviously you don't want to scrub them with anything. Do you just spray them gently with a hose and that will get it off?
Nice tip with the index cards. Thanks
@Junispro no as long as when you spray some of it goes inside the rim. Or really its you choice if you want to. Just make sure its clean
How durable is plasti dip? And what happened when you put your lug nuts on? Did it peel when you torqued them down?
@FeelinGipper I have yet to find it in a spray can. I know they make a kit where you can create your own colors but that is for dipping objects in. Hopefully in the future they have it in a spray can.
if you get new tires will it harm the paint bad when they put it on the tire machine ?
You need to remove the index cards right after your last coat right? So it doesn't peel?
Awesome idea with the cards! I'm gonna use them! How exactly do you prep your wheels for the best adhesion of the Plasti Dip?
those are good looking wheels!
Do u half to scrub the rim up like regular paint? With sandpaper or anything esle?
Hey men. good job. I'm wondering what is the size for that wheel assembly?
How long will the plastidip hold up? I have 20" polished aluminum wheels
QUESTION! how do you get the inside lip??? i ordered mine but im wondering if you need to spray from the back also?
you got my exactly question...have u bought already? or have u coat your rims already? thanks
