      +G. Chevy /just thought I would let you know , you can buy clear lacquer that is UV protected, so basically the sun will not damage the Orange paint, it's usually a clear coat that you put on pvc headlamps before they start beginning to perish from the sun, or if you're lights are already in very bad condition you can sand them down with wet p600 then p1400 rub them good and smooth, then rub with a tac cloth to catch any dust particles, and spray them with this UV protection clear paint, it will give a shiny clear see through finish , and will stay that way because the UV rays, want messes up the headlights in the first place will not be in Direct contact with the PVC ,also I originally started this comment to tell you how well your truck locked, the dash and gauges look sick , I would not put any more orange on the way it is now, does not look over the top , it looks like it came that way as a special edition, lol Great job mate.

    Hey man, little tip on keeping ur dip from peeling on ur steering wheel. If its a normal plastic the plasti dip doesnt stick to it as it does to smooth glossy surfaces. I had dip peeling on the plastic trim on the bottom of my car the first time I dipped it, not I sprayed plasti dip Primer just on plastic trim and dip stayed on it solid. Many ppl are not sure about the Primer but I can assure you it does not make a dip permanent, it only increases adhesiveness by 400%. Next time try Primer on hard wearing parts.

    Hey another Miami native here. I just watched the video, I'm not sure how long ago you made it, but I've learned over the years the best thing to do with paint fade is to add a few layers of clear coat. I have an Excursion I am slowly working on when I have time....(work in progress) painted grill and interior accents. also. All in all...good job on the truck.

    When you dip the steering trim try using etching primer before you dip it will help the dip hold better.

    I didn't read all of your comments but I found a way to keep your spray fine and even. Wipe your nozzle after every spray, it will dry over the hole and spray dried out plastidip on your next coat. Also, let your can heat up in the sun before you paint and between coats. Its almost like a fine mist. Its lets you apply more coats in a shorter amount of time. I did my emblems black and red, silverado's in red and the LT in Red. Just my 2cents. Nice truck man.

  • @akashbam
    @akashbam 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hey bud, you mentioned that the interior was peeling in some spots... I recommend that you get some paint remover/thinner. With that you can apply some to a towel and just dab/rub the spot where it is peeling and it will allow you to either spray over the dip without taking all of the dip off or just to make it stick again and stop the lifting. It basically allows you to blend old plasti dip with new.

  • @_jaber1

    Bro, that interior looks great. Some advise on using that Plasti Dip. After each coat and when you're letting what you painted dry, take the can, hold it upside down for about 10 seconds, then spray the paint upside down. Should take about 5 seconds or so before storing the paint.
    By doing that you're spraying the access paint out of the straw preventing it from drying in the nozzle and straw preventing clumping. Then when you're ready to use it, spray a couple test sprays to draw the paint back up the clean straw.
    Good luck and again that color looks great.

    looks dope man. I have heard that if you don't turn the can upside down and spray some plain air out when you are done, the can tip will get clogged and not spray right the next time you dip. Also the temperature of the dip plays a part. some people soak the cans in hot water to get the dip more workable

    I know the vid is a bit older, but wanted to say that using plasti-dip on the interior is a great idea (and it really looks awesome). I went to the trouble of doing a wet lay carbon fiber on the trim of my interior. Going to have to do a couple of places in the dip !

  • @foserius
    @foserius 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @ 2:52 you talk about the blaze clogging up... If you get a protein shake cup (spray cans fit perfect in them) of hot water and put the can in it for about 3 mins, the plasti dip will spray in an even mist and not spray blotches like you were saying. Another tip is to remove the cap and put it in small cup of paint thinner between coats.

    Hi im carlos. I plastic dipped the exterior of my bros camary. Door handles mirros and emblems. I used about 4 layers of dip and 3 layers and acrylic clear coat. This will help you out with the faded orange bow tie and the peeling off.

The few black plastic pieces i do have (air dam cover, top of tailgate, etc. See in my vids if u have time) has white spots on it from poor detailing due to the previous owner and i use Mothers Back to black which works for about a month before it needs reapplied. So heres my question: would it be a good or bad idea to plastidip my black plastic pieces on my truck black. I figured not only would it look better but also i figured might protect it in the future but im really hesitiant to do it. What do you think my man. Keep up the good work.
