I've been working my way through your superb videos. What you have achieved in your mirror is fantastic. I love the way Curlew kisses the water at the bow. Doffing my cap and thanking you both.
Yet again a great little adventure I have had the privilege to sail with David in his curlew very enjoyable he taught me lots a very nice man very experienced seaman great little boat and skipper, fair winds and hope to see you out there, you gave me the confidence to get out in my mirror, but I am a long way from your standard, thanks for that David good man
Very pleasurable to watch as always. I really must get my head around the patch repair that my Mirror needs. Caused by a careless builder on the scaffold while we were having work done, a brick has punched a 3 inch hole in the hull, in the bow area. Need to scarf in a piece but I have chickened out so far! Must get on it for next season.
Nice to see you coming out of the Hamble and up Southampton water, a run I enjoy too 🙂 hopefully see you out there next year, I've put mine to bed now for the winter.
Hello, i have recently acquired an early Miracle (in wood) and about to join the dinghy crusing association, are there many members in the Sussex area? Id like to set mine up for crusing and sleeping on. Great videos, very inspirational! Vernon
Hi Vernon We usually sail in the Solent/Chichester Harbour and we get several boats turn up in good weather. We have more members in W than E Sussex as it is is more convenient for sailing. D
Having just had my 3rd dinghy sailing lesson along with my first 4 capsizes within 20 minutes on a relatively calm inland reservoir (admittedly in a toy-like boat that has more in common with an inflatable banana than yours which looks much more seaworthy), I'm interested to know how easily you could recover your little ship when it's loaded in its cruising trim?
Well, we try to avoid capsize. For instance, I don't do racing-style gybes or tacks. And I reef early so the boat is never hard pressed. I also avoid sitting out, because that would mean a capsize if there were a hole in the wind. All the kit in the boat is tied in, in theory. I have an auto mast head float to prevent inversion. I have intentionally pulled the boat over on a lake, but touch wood, I have not capsized in 25 years in this boat.
@@msf60khz That's interesting thanks. Is the Mirror fairly stable anyway? 25 years sounds like an incredible record without a capsize; I'm hoping to up mine to 25 minutes - I live in hope anyway!

Thank you. Did you see the boat?
I will keep sailing all winter.
Always enjoyable....
Great video... definitely interesting looking at your boat mods... would like to know more of your cruising set up in detail.
There is some information in the videos called Mirror Mods 1, 2 and 3. I am happy to answer any questions
Another great video David. Are you going to the boat show this weekend? Maybe see you on the water or at the show!!
Thank you Andrew. Not time this weekend I am afraid but strong wind sailing at Farlington today.

The Mirror is quite stable, and a bit of equipment in it such as anchor, food, water and clothes makes a big improvement. Good sailing.
