    Shame about the Scamp, but a good consolation prize! Jake needs to make himself a custom kitchen box to fit one of his lockers 😉👍

    Newtown Creek is a very unspoilt place. I have dinghy- cruised there in a Wayfarer. We sailed from Hayling Island S.C. Tied up to a jetty at Korf camp, a Scout and Guide campsite, which had hot showers and cost a couple of quid in an honesty box. We put up a tent on shore, and walked to the very good pub for supper. Attempting a short-cut along the shore, it got too muddy so we turned back, and we were enraptured by a treeful of nightingales trying to out-sing each other. Incredible! Later, weaving back through the woods, there were tiny green glowing lights on the ground. Glow-worms! I picked one up and it sat on my hand glowing brightly. I have also seen an Osprey there, and an inquisitive common seal in Clamerkin lake.
    The RS boat looks great, and is fast too.
    Nick.

    When using the trekking cooker, always make sure to have an alloy insulation between its feet and the boards. The heat is reflected from the pots down to the bottom might cause a fire on the boat.

    • @RogerRoving

    A guy I know for a long time has a scamp he built himself. Keeps it in a floating marina berth since he sold the trailer for it and doesn’t seem to use it much. He used to live on it for a while. Every time I ask him to let’s take it out because it’s a nice day, he’s like, nah too much work. He has now got some 25 foot mini keelboat with cabin and seems to prefer it.

    • @RogerRoving

      @@RogerRoving I build one (have a look on my channel "martins dock" here on youtube). I like the Scamp as a familys daysailor because you sit more in it rather than on top of it what makes my beloved wife feeling more comfortable. Sadly at less than 2 Bft sailing sucks. Scamp is no speedboat, but performance was not the design goal here, i guess. On the other hand: as long as you dont capsize (which i once did sailing at 5 Bft without reef by accident- the hard way to learn...) you'll always stay dry because of the little cabin- like something. Today i'd prefer to have a boomless lug- rig. Cheers, Martin

    Has anyone put this boat head to head with a Wayfarer? After looking at the price I cannot help thinking that putting an old Wayfarer in the hands of a professional for a couple of weeks would achieve a similar result at half the cost.

    • @dpround
      @dpround 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have sailed both. The RS venture is a much more modern design and it shows in lots of little details that just work better, but second hand Wayfarers are a lot cheaper which is why I sail one!
