Here are the summary of Decree 168 for the most common penalties compared with the old ones, I will use the average since there is a narrow band between the upper and lower bounds (for example, jumping red now can cost you anywhere between 4 to 6 million VND so I will average it as 5 million ) : For motorbikes: 1. jumping red: increase from 900k to 5 million VND 2. wrong way: increase from 1.5 million 5 million VND 3. drunk driving: increase from 4.5 million to 7 million VND (can go up to 10 million depending on how much you drank) for cars: 1. jumping red: increase from 5 million to upto 20 million VND 2. wrong way: as per jumping red 3. Opening the door leading to accident: increase from 900k to 21 million VND (shoulder check when you open the doors peeps, its now cost you an arm and a leg) 4. Using phone while driving: increase from 2.5 million to 5 million VND 5. Wrong way/ reverse on highway: increase from 17 million to up to 40 million VND 6. Not obeying the traffic police: increase from 5 million to 36 million (The current party leader is a former minister of public security FYI) These are some significant changes, there are still some minor changes that I failed to mention. Hope you and and your pocket be safe in Vietnam.
Vietnam is definitely trying to lift it's game, I was there October and was quite surprised to see the brown shirts doing organised traffic enforcement. They had a couple of cars and about 6 officers on an intersection out Tan Binh way actively pulling over motorbikes that were overloaded, unsecured load, causing traffic chaos or no helmets. It looked orderly and respectful with the cops taking lots of photos of the offenders bikes, fairly sure some were wearing body cams as well. Although it will probably annoy some of the locals it is making Vietnam a better safer place. Made that Highlander coffee and cake even more enjoyable.
Honestly way to long to talk about new Vietnam laws. Sad part is I dont know all, but do know two bug ones you could have stated to your audience. Directive 147, effective Christmas day. All social media accounts must be verified. Pretty much by biometric. And fines, lock out, prison, fees if you say something government don't like. Second 1/1 biometric banks. All online or elettonic transactions will be void until you biometric your account.
ADHD advances your strategy: Your awareness and initial alertness is advanced. Don’t use it as an excuse because you end up contradicting your natural gifted talent. If you’re laziness depletes your skills don’t blame ADHD. Peace and love.
Im white american ( my wifes account) i lived in saigon for a decade 20-30, the air is so shitttt, and the parks are shit to ..i couldn't handle it anymore ( so i just live in usa and visit as a tourist for like 5 months since i have the marriage visa already) rinse and repeat ( need a break from all that chaos )
I have a mount on my bike to hold my phone. And I record everything when I drive my bike. The other day, an old man was forced to turn into me by a bus and I was just driving straight. Got that recorded. After the fact, I recorded everything. He laid there on the ground for three minutes like he was dead. Complained about his ankle and his arm. That night he called my wife complaining of his head. That he needed to go to the hospital. You can see where this is going. He just wanted money when it was his fault. Change his whole tune when he found out that I had everything recorded and I’m video. But gave him the out graciously by saying it wasn’t his fault. It was the boss’s fault then yes we were no longer at responsible because of the video and we gave him an out to blame the bus.
who are you siding with man? the government? before they released their draconian traffic law, they should have done more educating work beforehand on their public media about these new traffic rules, then to gradually apply those harsh traffic rules on the people who use the public roads as their only means of survival. you know how long it may take for many Vietnamese that are so poor under their regime to pay for a traffic violation they may have to face? their whole life probably. They just changed those rules overnight on a whim, then force everyone to follow, and if not, have to face the consequences. That is just done under the communist rules, not in country where human elements are first considered in every policy or law that is put to work. by the way, are you a communist sympathizer?

people should know the driving law when they learn to drive. Why wait till now to learn? Maybe they are poor because they dont follow the law. Don't worry about what they do, worry about your own country burning to the ground.
Thanks for this excellent video! When do you think they will make driving on the sidewalks illegal? As you know, during rush hour it's crazy how many motorbikes drive on the sidewalk. Probably also the reason for all the broken sidewalks
I also did that. The sidewalk are mostly broken by bad craftsmanship built somewhat ok the erode fast or get broken up and never repaired for some new pipes or cables.
@@dmajor7066Happy to hear. I am a foreigner, but I realize that many locals may feel that this new law is too drastic. Perhaps for the first and second violation the fine could be reduced
Happy new year, Chris! Hopefully the new traffic laws will give the pedestrians their right. It will help them cross the streets safer. Great! Do you think the metro will help reduce the traffic?
so the government should be going after bad parents, not fully grown adults having a vape. the reality is theres no tax on vapes, thats the only reason
oh they take it serious, trust me. I saw a video when the light turn red everyone stop on the spot. A lot of grab and taxi driver are quitting because of the fines. My friend say right now it take a lot longer to catch a grab because of the new law.

The subway looks more like a fallout shelter for the population
No one can afford a $1000 fine that's 25million Dong not even realistic to cost of living! More tea money for 🐊.... never happen!
maybe they should follow the law long ago. They can become more careful.
@ good point ! Not going to happen (PERIOD) tea money for 🐊 corruption! More corruption!
Make vapes that taste like sweets guess what it's going to attract kids like when the alcopops 1st hit the market kid's started drinking that shit
