indeed. THIS, is a fact that neither team, pro tmk or not, can deny. it is just universal. the pinnacle of joy and contentment has been repeatedly reached by singing pure unalloyed music - regardless of who or which caste the singer is. the moment you reach that pinnacle as a listener, you realize that you were not listening to the music from the ears but the heart. and the singer, singing from the heart, not just the mouth or voice.

There is a parallel Purandara dasa devara nama composition similar to Tyagaraja s Sangeeta jnaanamu Bhaktivina. This is kelano hari taalano, taala melagaliddu Prema villada gaana.....Hari can't listen to music which has taala and all instrumental support, but without bhakti. Most musicians are aware of this devara nama composition.....the ending is truly interesting. ... Adi gadi gaananda bhashpa pulaka dinda nade nudige shree hari ennuta, druda bhaktaranu koodi Hari keertane paadi kadege Purandara vittala nendare kelva, kelano Hari taalano...How should we lead our life...every step we need to remember the lord with smiling tears chanting lord's name and be in the company of firm bhaktas or firm believers of God who will accept us later. There are no compelling reasons to disbelieve this by any musician. In another composition of Muttaiah Bhagavatar in Maya malava goula...shree Vidya vedya mahime devee Dina vanodyame...bhavika phala daayini...shive hari kesha bhamini....goddess parvathi grants phala or boons to the bhavukas. Bhavukas are devotees who are immersed in the sahitya raga bhava combine who appreciate the bhakti bhava in music. Therefore bhakti bhakti bhakti is the main message in karnatik music....

No one has ever doubted or commented on his talent in carnatic music. The award is considered purely based on one's talent and one's contribution and development of carnatic music. Even though the carnatic music is dominated by a particular community it is great to see a man from the same community to take the music to the lesser known and underprivileged communities. Let us appreciate his revolutionised ideas and appreciate the people who from the same community had recognized his talent and his societal concern and selected for the award. Regarding his bakthi or devotion to God and music, his unbiased intention was revealed in his writings and debates that he sees God in all and in all people. Surely he stands among Bharthi, and K. Balachandar who have brought social revolution both within and outside their communities in their respective fields.
Surely TM Krishna deserves this award.

Coming to the point, conferrement of this coveted title on TMK is highly condemnable since TMK is an atheist, rebel and speaks, sings, writes against the basic tenets of our system of music nay Carnatic music, propounded by great Vaggeyakaras, Trinity and Venkatamakhi, the preceptor 72 Melakarthas.

As the any kind or any form of art had its origin in the society itself, but not from the skies... They are the gift to the entire society and all communities whether main streamed a or marginalised... Unfortunately, majority art forms and the academies were grabbed and kept in the grip of brahminicql sections. By supporting Periyar and giving place to the other marginalised and minority communities, Sri T.M Krishna made the greatest attempt to free the chains laid by the prestigeous or highli sections and handed it over the toiling masses, whether they are ready to take it or not. This is the greatest step or the longest leap in cultural fields, and it prominantly shows TM. Krishna Sir's active role here. From the moment of its founding, tha academy selected the first and ever best carnatic musician to the award means it's only Sri T M Krishna Sir , the Best and the most suited for the purpose. Let the other narrow minds be washed away with the wind.

I presume the authors of this video consider themselves unbiased, but I fear that's not the case. While they mention the criticism Krishna faced, they give little attention to the support he received and continues to receive both within and outside the community. They talk of the Sindhikka Sonnavar Periyar song, but not the Keethanams written by Perumal Murugan that worship and celebrate nature, like, for example, Parkka, paarkka. Additionally, they fail to acknowledge that the criticisms against Krishna often lack substance, resorting instead to ad-hominem attacks. To witness this mindless vitriol, one need only scroll through the comments section of this post. The point is straightforward: fervent Hindus, particularly the Sanathanis, are free to view and treat Carnatic music as part of their belief system. However, South Indian classical music, as demonstrated by TM Krishna, is versatile enough to cover any subject of import and can be performed in almost any language, including colloquial Chennai Tamil. Such matters need not be confined to the Tukkada section, as some may wish.

Ranjani and Gayatri have made a point.A very goid point. If we can not accept that, then we are biased. EVR is totally wrong in releasing statements like kill the Brahmin first. We discuss every thing else than that. So any one who tries to make a hero of peple of such nature are condemnable. So is Krishna. First of all we shall all stop this bull shit Brahmin bashing. It has become a formula, bash brahmins , and doing so bash hinduism, you will be showered with all sorts of awards. We are simply going mad over with the formula what the british coloniser coined to their agenda fir political and religious gains. No one talks about Prakasam pantulu, Kandukuri, Unnava Lakshmi narasimha who are just a few of thousands of Brahmins who sacrificed every thing for social reforms and well being of the deprived.Somewhere this balanced view has to Emerge. I am extremely happy that RaGa have stoid their ground very well.

T.M. Krishna relishes controversies. He is mixing politics with music and religion. Controversies can sometimes increase visibility and public interest in a celebrity, as they often generate media attention and public discussion. However, the impact of the controversy on a celebrity's popularity can vary widely depending on the nature of the controversy, While some celebrities may experience a temporary surge in popularity due to controversy, others may face negative consequences that can harm their reputation and career.
Carnatic music is not secular. Carnatic music evolved from ancient Hindu traditions. Carnatic music is mostly Hindu devotional songs. Unlike Hindustani music Carnatic music was not affected by the Arab and Persian influences. it is a bad idea to bring Christian and Muslim influences to Carnatic music. Carnatic music should not be used as a tool to bring social reform.
However, I agree that Carnatic music should not remain as a forum for Brahmins only. It should be open to everyone but they have to realize that Carnatic music is Hindu music.

He doesn't believe in bhakthi or a dress code only when it comes to Hindu oriented krithis. But when he sings on Allah , he wears the Islam kufis which are the traditional and religious skull caps for Muslim men!!! So then he has bhakthi in his song for Islam or Christianity. Isn't that being a hypocrite?

There cannot be a more inclusive singer performer than Smt. MS Amma, whom Sri K M Munshi referred to as MUSIC SUBLIME. She has popularized several kruthis of Sri Vedanayagam Pillai n has even sung songs on Allah (Bhavan's LP). Let us not forget the fact that only we Hindus sing 'Eashwaru Allaah Theraa Naam". No Christian or Muslim will ever do that. So, let Krishna train n make at least few non-Hindus to sing our Hindu songs and prove.

Also, normalizing all hindu arts vasthu, yoga, literature, music, dance ect is correct? Isn’t this a religious conversion technique?
Can a Carnatic music artist dishonor hindu faith, its saint, saying singing on god and broomstick is the same is good for you?
Can we award a person who is boycotted Music academy over a decade?

Krishna does not deserve the award though he is musically talented because he has removed Bhakthi from carnatic music, which has two essential components Music & Bhakthi. Just music without Bhakthi is not Carnatic Music. So he does not deserve the award. It should be withdrawn by the MMA. MMA is bigger than TMK. The Carnatic Musicians are bigger than MMA. The RASIKA Community is bigger than the Carnatic Musicians. Carnatic music is bigger than the Rasika Community. TMK is free to start his own Music with all his skills without Bhakthi, giving a new name for 'Music without Bhakthi' and sing in nook and corner. Nobody objects to it. But he is not entitled to enter Carnatic Music halls being antagonistic to Bhakthi.

There is a composition of St Tyagaraja which most musicians render:Sangeetha jnanamu bhaktivina..... mere knowledge of music without devotion can never lead to the true path. Lord Shiva, Hanuman, seers Brungi, Agastya, Maatanga, Naarada worship through music saturated with devotion. Discrimination of right and wrong is crucial. The world is unreal and transient due to the arishadwargas. Hence there is no other way to salvation than knowledge of music integrated with devotion. What else enybody needs to accept that bhakti and music are appurtenant and cant be separated. While all musicians may not know the real meaning of all compositions, yet the final message of most compositions is bhakthi. Therefore bhakti and music are not mutually exclusive. What the musicians have boycotted is only to air this view, which is also the view of listeners.

The main reason why Carnatic music still seems restricted to a particular community is because of a lack of exposure. As a classical art form, people need to know the history, the essence and the theory in order to be connoisseurs (in Carnatic terms, 'rasikas') of classical art forms. I think working on these aspects as compared to changing the whole art form itself will be beneficial in the long run.

He has an agenda to divide the society in tamilnadu where dravidam is against upper class and brahmins.. everyone knows how MAGSAY awards are manipulated to people like TMK, Kejriwal. Etc..who work against India in the garb of social workers or activists…MA should if it has the honour, honesty, true to the purpose for which MA was established, with humility regret its decision and withdraw the honour to TMK….go without SK award this year, or give it to a deserving non Brahmin of any caste…will MA go against the Rams, the dispensation here…….

TM Krishna's elevation to recognition conferred by Madras Music Academy has very less to do with the narration mentioned in this heavily tilted video. Actually, he is more hated for his glorification of yesteryear contributors of Carnatic music. Yes, there is no doubt that one community is heavily dominated in this field of music and their talent is backed by their passion for the classical music. However, to the larger viewers the precise cause is the significant contributions by non Brahminical group towards carnatic music that has hurt the egos of this community. As said, there is no dearth of talent among Brahmins but they have maintained tight grip over the domain by conveniently discouraging the 'outsiders' from achieving success. It's a big story untold and hidden from the masses. There are great dancers like Alarmel Valli and Leela Samson who were deliberately ignored by the media (controlled by specific group) to prevent popularity just because they didn't belong to the clan that i mentioned above. The real stalwarts of carnatic were like Madurai Somu , Subrahmanian Pillai whose names were literally wiped out to prevent them getting due recognition. Why can't they name prestigious awards in their names? This cupid attitude towards own community is where the narrow mindedness of this clan that made people like TMK question. Simply speaking he rocked the boat.

Can you pray to Lord Ganesha early morning in Muslim Pongu style...?
    Will any Muslim relish it?
Please ask Singer Krishna this question and he will understand...the devotees sentiment. He is not that much dumb..
He is only against the limiting the carnatic music to certain groups.
In a country with a population of 140crores,
how many can match the calibre of Ranjani Gayatri, or Aruna Sairam?
140 ? Not even one in a million...or one crore.
With the blessings of saints we do have blessed musicians..but can anyone match the maestro Ilayaraja in swaraprayoga of various types of songs.
    Or Sri KV. Mahadevan?
Even Dr.Balamuralikishna paid tributes to them.
It's your luck that those musically genius artists chose to remain in light music only. Their understanding in different types of music helped in expanding the horizon.
Nothing went wrong in the purity of carnatic system.
Probably Krishna means this when he suggested to take carnatic music to various levels. But his approach may not be appropriate. Even now I don't know how many can take it in the right spirit.
But I am worried that in spite of a handfull of good carnatic musicians, the vacancy left by Chembai, Madurai Mani, Madurai Somu,MDR, MS, Rajaratnam pillai,MSG, S.Balachander, the list goes on without replacement.
There is quality in NRI supporters, but quantity of musicians is in sufficient.
There is much scope for expansion, if you do not indulge in groupism or in fighting between good artists. Non commercial teachers are still rare for the art..Govt is there to help but quality comes only out of devotion to the art.

    Music is universal.
Its application/ popularisation to the common masses depends on one's capacity to reach out and take it to them.
Other views are out of place here.
Excellence of music rendered by people ONLY matter for the award(s)and not their personal /ideological inclination ( s) which are PRIVATE.
One can't politicise music for selfish ends and claim ownership over the entire gamut of Music disregarding / disrespecting other reputed / popular/ famous Musicians and their EXPERT Apex body in a totally BIASED and parochial manner. out of JEALOUSY and
NARROW-MiNDED vision and pickup quarrels in a childish manner.
Body of experts decide awards after analysing various factors.
Some selfish Individuals cannot DICTATE the EXPERT body for their own benefits

Music is universal, the type (genre ) of music is not. Krishna himself did not agree with the "body of experts". He declared that "henceforth I will not participate in the Academy musical events". In his fervor and misguided hatred against Brahmins, he is destroying Karnatic music. Krishna probably does not know that Purandara Dasa who is known as the Sangita pita maha was not a Brahmin and one of Academy awardee, Mr. Cowdaiah was not a brahmin either. Krishna reminds me of another famous personality, Mr. Rahul Gandhi.

    Krishna is undoubtedly a hypocrite!
Despite his support to lower section of society in the matter of learning or teaching music, he has not been able to attract pupils from that society!
This tells volumes about his philosophy!

T M கிருஷ்ணாவுக்கு விருது கொடுத்தது அரசியல். His name is TMK. So, he was given this award? இவருக்கு அருகதை இல்லை. He does not deserve this at all. I think the award should be taken back. இவருக்கு தந்த விருதை திருப்பி வாங்க வேண்டும். He is athiest ... And anti-Hindu,.. He himself boycotted music academy for more than a decade. So, Why should he be given such an important award?

Do you think it would have invoked so much protest from highly accomplished musicians if ut were purely for music that he was conferred the award? There seems to be more to it than meets the eye. Politically fishy.
And if I’m not mistaken the first SK award was given in 1941 or 42. Not in ‘29

By his own convictions vid tmks vocal outputs are technical combination of sounds and not music which latter is driven by rasasvemotions anubhavas and resultsntvbhaavas . So it is improper to call him Sangita kalanidhi or music kalanidhi. The award could be from a sound academy for the vinyasas of sounds he weaves within the confines of raga without being inspired or reflect a bhava or rasa. I. Short clever construct of shabdas as he himself says in his manodharma lectures. No emotions rasas the award can be named Shabda samuha vinyasa vit not Sangita kalanidhi

Apropose, one may say there can be no sound without the source feeling something in his case the shabda construct rule is so dominant that his varied construct lack feeling or at least it is avyakta and not experienced by the singer. Hence it is not soulful it is technical only. Give him a circus award

That s what is happening here!😂 they are fooling the audience with their own tactics
