Im 40 Born in 82 I played this game religiously for years One day we had a snow day and my sister and i after a year of never being able to best it finally did I never forgot that day we spent together finally beating it The music The enemies The icons for power ups All clear as day for me
Wizards & Warriors might have only been Rare's second NES game, but it was way ahead of its time in 1987, and it's still an incredibly fun adventure today. For the many of you that have requested this one - here it is finally! Hope you enjoy the playthrough!
Took me forever to beat us a kid. Recently went back to replay it and I beat it in less than an hour but the one thing that was difficult for me was the second stage. That one key was in that one difficult spot that was hard to jump to
The music, the beauty of the scenes, the otherworldly atmosphere with no backstory whatsoever, the complete map shown at the beginning of every level, the fluid game play. This game belongs in the pantheon of NES classics, right up there with Metroid and The Legend of Zelda.
I spent countless hours playing this game and speed was never a factor. This music and sound effects are unforgettable for those of us who played this at a friend's house late at night when we weren't supposed to be only to realize when we finished the sun was already on its way up. And we would do it again the next night too
When I was very little I used to watch my mom and her friend play this. I have many fond memories of her, but this is one of the fondest memories I have because she didn't play video games much at all, but she loved this game and Gauntlet. I just loved watching smiling, having fun, and her play her heart out. Sadly she passed away when I was 16, but I'll remember those moments when I was a kid always. A while back I fired up the Nintendo emulator and played Wizards and Warriors for old time sakes and ended up beating it right before I had to leave for work and saved the screenshot of my score. Love you mom!
The power of nostalgia! I went back to the 1990s sitting in my childhood room playing this, feeling genuine happiness and excitement. The music and soundeffects! Also got my very first kiss playing this! Haha This game will always be in my heart. Thank you alx for sharing this
This game is sooooo classic. challenging but not unforgiving, great music and sound effects, colorful, satisfying and very replayable. Everything a good NES game should be.
Man, this was one of my absolute favorite games as a kid, and the first game I ever finished. That soundtrack as well, wow does that bring back memories. Watching this video was a lot of fun. Wish i could get this on my 3ds or Switch. Great game
Word my dad just happened to have all his NES games from when he was kid and this was one of the first games I played and beaten i Aint know this game back then and been trying find it ever since this vid brung back a lot of memories
I have some very fond memories playing this game as a kid. Every time I hear the music when I play the game, it takes me back to that time. I miss the 80s. 80s/90s kid here!
finally after 23 years I found the nes game that I have been desperately looking for, thanks to TH-cam I found it. I am happy to the extreme 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😁😁😁
I always loved the lore behind Kuros being the "GREATEST WARRIOR OF ALL"...despite the fact that he apparently was some guy that was just living in a tree who decided, after hearing about kidnapped princesses, to wander out of said tree in the dense forest and take matters into his own hands.
Wizards & Warriors contains several dummied items (items removed before release but still programmed in). Most notably, the Scroll item, which is even mentioned in the instruction manual, was taken out of the game. This item allowed you to view your current location on the world map once, then disappeared. The coding for it still exists, so, with the right cheat codes, this item can be enabled again. It is a special item, and will replace whichever one is currently in that slot. Might have been nice, but a map view only comes in handy in the cave stages. After this, the item would be a waste, and I guess the programmers figured as much.
Cain Marko I remember playing this for my first time once Nd being relatively hard at one boss lvl then stopped playing for prolly a month then I randomly got the urge to play it a second time and beat it no prob
The object of this game is to journey through a dark, medieval land, while collecting hordes of treasure. Finally, it culminates in destroying an evil wizard and rescuing a hot scantily clad blonde! The game is fucking amazing while at the same time making me realize why my life is completely unfulfilling. Great run-through brother!
It never really hit me about why I love The Elder Scrolls online so much, and then I thought back to my favorite childhood game. I'll forever love the soundtrack to this!!
Mike V. Lol literally the most annoying sound in all Nintendo games, because it gives me that flash back anxiety that about to die if I don't find a chicken lol. It's like PDST for gamers...
Fantastic game. I think this was a weekend rental for me, and I beat it, but picked it up again years later just to have it. That stage one forest theme will be with me forever. Points deducted for not having Fabio on the cover, though.
This was one of the games I remember playing when I was 5-6 and had an NES. I remember jumping around the trees having no idea what I was supposed to do.
One of my favorite childhood games...I learned to read the word "Pause" playing g this game...I remember getting to the castle maybe that was as far as I got. This game taught us how to jump lol. J remember being so let down when I got wizards and warriors 2 at a flea market, it just wasn't as good as the first to me.
Greetings Earthlings! 👋👽 Awesome gameplay! 👍I remember playing this game on Friday's at my friends house for hours. To be honest we never mananged to finish it.. Over all real fun and great memories with this game 😄 Have an awesome day, and thanks 4 sharing 👍
Sitting on the floor with the big wooden box TV on the ground playing this at like 6-7 in the 90s....I probably never made it past the 2nd or 3rd level...but the music brings me right back.
One of the first NES games I got as a kid. I remember thinking this game was too hard almost gave up. One day I was bored picked up the game and beat it and it was the best time ever.
I had this game as a teenager in the 80s. God, the music to Wizards & Warriors was so grating to my ears. Even as I watch this now, it brings back those memories of how annoyed with the music I used to get. I did manage to beat the game multiple times though.
"My first job was in a music shop, selling drums, until a Yamaha CX5 music computer came into stock. I learned how to use it, and using MIDI I was able to hook it up to several drum machines and synthesisers. It helped me to sell a lot of music computers, but the best deal was when demoing the unit to two brothers: Tim and Chris Stamper. They asked me who had written the demo music and, upon explaining that they were listening to my compositions, they offered me a job at Rare. The music for Wizards & Warriors was inspired by the classical composer Bach, and was actually based on a tune I wrote when I was just 15. When the brief came along for Wizards & Warriors, we felt that it would suit the medieval style of the game - with it being written on the piano and harpsichord it seemed to fit. I was working at home at the time and this was my second job for Rare after Slalom. I always thought Wizards & Warriors was really interesting and the main character, Kuros the knight, was pretty cool." -- David Wise (musician)
There’s a bug where you can warp from the second forest level back to the first and start the game again with the potion of levitation and the axe etc. Google it if you’re interested. You can also do a trick with levitation to kill the bosses with your boots.
This is really nostalgic. I managed to run this several times as a kid from a borrowed console. I think this game helped my mental development lol For a long time I forgot what this game is called now I know and remember
Man I'm 50 and I remember playing this game laughing at the boots of force and the death scenes that I wished they were shown here when you die, that leg twitching, classic the game that doesn't get no recognition it truly deserves.
Tsss I didn't remember the name of this video game and I was looking for it until I saw cassette covers. The music, the graphics, I remembered everything, I loved playing it. I was born in 85. 👾
To those who can have genuine nostalgia wrapped around a great memory of this game the opening music can really ignite those emotions further then a videogame should be able to. IMHO it is one of those things that is somehow far more then the sum of it's parts.
There’s a glitch to travel back to the first forest/tree stage from the second. So you can replay the whole game with all the pickups like the axe and the feather.
If you listen closely the first part of it is the same thing that plays each time you beat a boss in levels leading up to it they just only play the first part of it.
Beating this game when I was a kid is so one of my crowning gaming achievements. This was among the first games we got that Christmas with the console, and it was just too hard when I was only 5 or 6. 😅 It wasn't until I was 11 or so that I finally got determined to beat it. I don't remember how long it took me, but it sure wasn't 45 minutes. Took me multiple hours both times (I beat it once just to beat it, and then a second time to prove it to my cousin,) so this is impressive to watch. Makes me want to get into speedrunning it now that I'm in my 40s, just to see how quickly I can do it.
I don’t know what I’m feeling right now watching a game at 40 that I played when I was 5 and remembering it vividly.
Im 40 Born in 82 I played this game religiously for years One day we had a snow day and my sister and i after a year of never being able to best it finally did I never forgot that day we spent together finally beating it The music The enemies The icons for power ups All clear as day for me
same dude 37 remember this like i was yesterday but can’t remember things people would normally remember
one thing i do remember from it is being alot easier XD
The cold weight of the unstoppable flow of time? I know I am.
I recently played Goonies 2 after 30+ years and I could remember what paths to take and where the secrets were.
Wizards & Warriors might have only been Rare's second NES game, but it was way ahead of its time in 1987, and it's still an incredibly fun adventure today. For the many of you that have requested this one - here it is finally! Hope you enjoy the playthrough!

Nice. A little surprised not to see this sooner, but whatevs :)
NintendoComplete If only this adventure happened in real life.
Wizards & Warriors deserves a comeback.
I never got what the potions did.
Some of the most iconic music in NES history.
An underrated classic.
Funny, the music was the reason to stop playing this game, it was so annoying to me.
Iconic? It sounds like shit!
It is so catchy
@@KajuTheRudeMonke jajajajja you are kidding right?
It's kinda like the Safety Dance song. You either despise it, or you had to listen to it for so long that you actually learned to love it! LoL
Wait. Are you telling me this game could be finished in 40 minutes? I probably spend 40 hours as a kid and never finished it. Unbelievable.
Yeah I don't think I got passed the 2 or 3 stage. This is a speed run for sure!
this was my favorite game, I never beat it as a kid either, I just ran around. Hahaha I was to dumb as a kid.
I got to Level 2. I think. The gems is what really what I seem to recall.
Took me forever to beat us a kid. Recently went back to replay it and I beat it in less than an hour but the one thing that was difficult for me was the second stage. That one key was in that one difficult spot that was hard to jump to
That's the difference between a kid playing around and some 30 year old neckbeard who oughta have better thing to do.
The music, the beauty of the scenes, the otherworldly atmosphere with no backstory whatsoever, the complete map shown at the beginning of every level, the fluid game play. This game belongs in the pantheon of NES classics, right up there with Metroid and The Legend of Zelda.
I’m mad this game doesn’t get recognized as much
Don't forget Blaster Master...
Love the music and sound effects in this game. The door effect is still my notification chime on my phone
I spent an entire Saturday to beat this game. I'll never forget the day, it poured all morning and the sun came out as I was completing the game.
No password, man.
You made it thru the storm 🌩
And everyone stood up and clapped.

Loved this game both for how much fun it was and its soundtrack! An often forgotten NES classic!
@@issacharezechias2209 As most Classics are. Classic does not mean Perfect.
To this day one of my favorite NES games. Absolutely love the atmosphere and music.
Legitimately my favorite NES game of all time. Something about this game made it completely different than all the rest.
I liked it because it was a thinking game and of course adventurous too.
@@gqloc6768 and a kick-ass MIDI soundtrack.

Because you could die and not lose everything.
The song when you are about to die...my childhood right there.
I hummed that tune long after I could remember where it came from.
my friend and I used to curse/sing to the music "fu-UCK you btch/get ON that ledge/get OFF me c**t/etc" lol

So cute
One of the best NES games and soundtracks of the era no question.
I got this game new back in the 80's and played it for days on end! Great game!
one of the best NES games hands down. Love reading all the comments about childhood memories, gives me feels of bliss and nostalgia.
This game is sooooo classic. challenging but not unforgiving, great music and sound effects, colorful, satisfying and very replayable. Everything a good NES game should be.
Just as I was thinking, "Hmm, I'd like to see a play-through of that fantasy NES game with the cool music", and here you delivered.

Played this game so much in the late 90s!! Damn I miss my childhood so badly
I have some very fond memories playing this game as a kid. Every time I hear the music when I play the game, it takes me back to that time. I miss the 80s. 80s/90s kid here!
I used to rage at this game so hard.
agreed and its in an easy nes games compilation video (John Riggs)
There are too many things to list and love about this game. Thanks for the upload and excellent playthrough.
I recently played this game again after two decades. What a fantastic game!
I only wish the sequel was as forgiving with its continues.

Asking on any NES forum what was the game with a knight would have got you an answer in 2.3 minutes, you didn’t need to waste 23 years.

I loved this game when I was a kid. Thank you for the flashback. That was awesome.
I'm literally going to play this game soon. It's been 30 years.
This game would've been BRUTAL without infinite continues!
@akxmedia0: critics lauded the infinite lives system, however without it, I don't see how anyone could conquer it.

It was also fitting that it was the second Rare NES game composed by David Wise.
you make the second boss look so easy! I've had the hardest time with that one. well done!
