    Episode 30
Wizards and Warriors is an amazing early game from Rare, the developers that would later make hits like Battletoads, Donkey Kong Country, and GoldenEye: 007!
Wizards & Warriors is a platforming game with a focus on exploration - you'll search large levels for treasure, weapons, keys, and equipment. The game is just full of hidden secrets and tricks!
So how did this game get made? In this episode we'll find out, then we'll dive deep into the game play where we'll learn:
    * Where to find EVERY TREASURE CHEST - and which ones you should AVOID!
    * How to complete ALL of the game's massive levels!
    * The location of every SECRET ROOM!
    * How to rescue EVERY PRINCESS!
    * Where to find EVERY KEY!
    * How to make all of the secret CHALICES and ORBS appear!
    * The secret of the BACKWARDS WARP - skip the last three levels of the game!
    * How to defeat EVERY BOSS, including the EVIL Wizard Malkil... AND MORE!
    Thanks for watching!

I need to really get back into this game as I've never finished it. As a kid, this was just one of those games that I just didn't understand and found to be too weird for my taste. Despite the infinite lives, it took me and all the kids in my neighborhood months to beat this game. That one wide jump in the fire cave was where every kid in my neighborhood gave up -- only to pick up the controller again a few minutes later to make another attempt. We thought you had to wait for a specially-positioned bubble to ride up in just the right spot to make the jump and get the key without sliding back down. We were so clueless. These were kids who could beat Mike Tyson, so they were actually pretty good at video games, but it took us a long while to beat this "easy" game. Our favorite thing to do in the outside-castle stage was to jump from a really high spot and position ourselves to fall in such a way that one of the sharp spires went directly up our @55.

I'm sure no one will care and this won't amount to much of nothing, but like many others, I played the holy hell out of this game, this was one of, if not THE top favorite game of mine from the system. LOTS of uneventful weekends were spent playing this game.. I watched this video thinking - "Oh yeah? Every secret? We'll see...." and I'll be damned, the video covered each and every one, there was even a secret room in the castle that I was unaware of. my dad loved this game, in the ice caverns where you get the feather of feather fall, dad had a knack that if he couldn't make the jump initially, he would stick Kuros under a nearby ledge and jump and bash Kuros's head into the ledge for a few seconds and then go try again and he would make it every time after doing that.

This may not be the most difficult game but its one of the funnest nes games ever made, providing of course you memorize where all the bad ability chests are and avoid them, this game is just as fun to play today as it was back in the day, it never gets old.

I played this game as a kid and loved it. On the second level with the difficult jump to get the feather of feather fall, there's an easier way. Underneath the platform where that red potion spawns there is a blue potion. You have to hurry to get back before it wears off, but the speed from that lets you make the jump easily.

To the channel author: THANK YOU for this and also revealing that there were TWO SEQUELS?!?!? I'm gonna watch the crap out of those longplays. Hopefully you have them!
You know, this was actually mentally difficult as a game (especially for an 8-year old), and demanded complete visual memory of the entire map. Also, whomever claimed the game was "too easy/generous" DEFINITELY ignored "one chance to get it right / oh also you can't ever get it right the first time, you literally have to replay the entire game to get back and try again" level where YOU'RE FALLING DOWN THE INSIDE OF THE TREE. The branches you slide off are expertly as malignant as possible, practically DEMANDING that you replay the entire game just to see if you can get (do you remember) that ONE treasure chest - I think it was pink or red. Totally impossible to plan, almost nobody was lucky enough to get the chest the first time through - and you sure as hell replayed the game JUST to see if you could get it. And you wouldn't until playthrough #3. Maybe.

Oh, I remember this one all too well. Never realized jumping off enemies would help get up to the tree tops; I often had to wait for the pink potion.
But if anything stood out in my mind about this game more than anything, it was that "low hit point" music loop. It's x amount of years later, and I can _still_ hear it.

In one of your game cart intros you had a Magic of Scheherazade cart. Gonna make a vid of that? Not a well known game and barely got any attention, but given it was made by a company which is not known for its RPGs, its pretty fun. The soundtrack also has a few hits (with a few misses as well). If you are REALLY up for a challenge, try playing the Japanese version.... that is brutal compared to what the US got.

    • @JWar-
      @JWar- 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I think that's actually a really cool game. Zelda style ARPG combined with party based JRPG turn-based combat and Chrono Trigger style time travel mechanics. Original video games were more innovative. There were no money-making formulas yet, so they had to be creative.

Can you do 2 and 3 as well? Iron Sword was actually pretty challenging. But 3 was my favorite though, and very hard. At least 2 had passwords, 3 didn't, no password, no save state, gotta run through in one sitting with a limited number of continues.
All 3 games had wicked soundtracks.

It seems like back in the day a lot of people felt like easy = bad, which is so far from the truth. A game doesn't need to be difficult for it to be fun. Like, would Contra have been as popular if people couldn't put in the code for 30 lives? I think it would have still been a hit, but not nearly as well loved.
      Thanks for watching!
