This Smith & Wesson Special Ops M9 bayonet knife features a 7.8" 400 series stainless steel blade with a cutout to fit to the wire cutter aparatus on the sheath. The blade also offers milled saw teeth. The handle locks into standard bayonet lugs which the guard slides over your barrel. Has clearance for common size flash suppressors. Includes nylon sheath with wire cutter attachment, and sharpening stone. Fits standard NATO standard M16 type rifle. 12.80" overall

I have this but with the green handle and brushed (Grey) blade. Its just like the one I was issued in the Army. Very handy not just as a bayonet. I am surprised that he didnt show the sharpening stone on the back of the sheath if you lift up the buttoned flap. Perhaps that model doesnt have the OD green one does.

I wanted to get this knife to take with me when I go fishing late at night for protection and if I ever needed it survival. However, I live in San Jose California and I was looking at the knife laws and I am not sure if this knife is legal to carry. Since it is a fixed blade I know that If it was legal I would always have to carry it in the open and never concealed but I was hoping you would be able to tell me if this knife is legal to carry openly in California?
California law permits a person to openly carry a fixed blade without length restrictions. Some municipalities have there own laws so it would behoove you to check the city/county ordinances. Even a jacket covering a knife worn on the waist could make it concealed (a felony in CA) so you would need to be careful there. its a scabbard not a sheath and you put the knife on the lug the wrong way ! you dont use the cutting edge to cut wire/fence you use the drop point

I've heard a lot of shit about this knife, those 2 things being that it can barely cut, and it has a very hard time puncturing. Would anyone who's had experience with this knife say that's true?

Actually you're wrong about this knife. The normal M9 bayonet for the US military dose not have those large serrations that this one dose. These type of serrations are exclusive for the Smith and Wesson brand of bayonets.

S&W knives are crap. I took my chance on 2, and neither could take a decent edge!
I tried stone, carbide and ceramic, a speedy sharp... nothing sharpens S&W knives.
Maybe learn how to sharpen them?
BLADES N' MORE a bayonet isn’t supposed to be sharp, if it’s sharp you could risk cutting into a rib and getting stuck, ribs tend to flex and a sharp knife that enters a rib will get stuck, a not so sharp knife will cut alongside it and you won’t risk getting shot. Theoretically speaking
