    I also make sure gaming mode is disabled, so the transitions are less distracting and appear to flicker as there is latency. I've also set the brightness down for zones further away from the TV so that they add atmosphere but don't look like a projection across the entire room

    Just FYI look at the directions before sticking the lights onto the TV. It requires you start in one of two specific corners or things won't line up correctly. I put mine in upside down at first and had to peel everything back off. Definitely love these lights and wish Govee would make a similar kit for monitors/small TVs

    • @ChrisMaherDIY

    • @kaislate
      @kaislate 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right now I have confirmed it is only the newest TV product. The older ones with the previous two camera designs are NOT compatible. This may change in the future, but govee's track record of adding features to older models is not great. Govee has more SKUs than taco bell has hot sauce packet quotes. This is their business model.
      A great example is when they released their Lifx bar clones. The original design included only one angled piece and could only be assembled in one direction. Later they added more features to the bar lights but this required you to purchase the pro version... Then they did it again and it required you to purchase the super duper pro version. Even though there is no reason the older units couldn't get the updates.
      Once you get as deep into the govee ecosystem as I am you start to realize how much you are being screwed over. A person that never owned a led bar system before isn't going to know any different though and will probably be happy.

      Govee's music modes are pretty useless since when the music is quiet govee finds it necessary to trigger a completely unrelated animation mode when in reality the LEDs should just turn off.
      For a kid's room though it will probably be fine, but will annoy most people as it's not what you think should happen for a sound reactive mode.
      There is no way mitigating this. I have even contacted govee and although their representatives have been responsive it doesn't look like this will be changed any time soon.
      Hopefully this comment triggers some cosmic energy and I am proven wrong like within a day. I'm not holding breath though lol.

    Interesting. I was looking at the Envisual T2, but was concerned any LED backlight system would look odd with my TV, as mine swings out into a corner and not flat on the wall. I think adding a floor lamp centered in that corner will greatly help to fill in the light fall-off behind the center of the TV in that area.
    In the app, it will be position #3 for me. It be nice if they offered a centered directly behind the TV position option in the future.

I have a Govee TV Backlight T2, I just bought a Lyra lamp: Govee RGBICW Smart Corner Floor Lamp, I want to buy more: GOVEE Neon Led RGBIC and LED GOVEE RGBIC 10m (h6126) can I also synchronize these accessories with Govee TV Backlight T2 as you do he transferred the colors from the TV. Can the added light systems only display one color?
    Let´s say I want to add one additional LED strip to to every side of the TV- for example on each wall, the ceiling and teh floor. Would these additional strips only light in the color of the center of the corresponding TV side or would they be able to match the whole captured section of the TV´s captured side?
    TO make this easier: when there is a gradient from red to green on the TV´s top, would the additional light placed above the TV´s top also be able to light from red to green or would it only light in a single color between red and green?

    • @ChrisMaherDIY
      @ChrisMaherDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much for watching and great question! So most of their new led strips let you assign up to 6 locations to the led strip that correspond to the tv. so its not perfect because their are 4 sides to the tv but only 6 locations which means some sides are going to have to have 2 sections while others will only have 1 assigned to the strip if that makes sense.

    Looks great. Very timely, I was just looking at the product. Question you might be able to answer, can you do music sync with other govee lights using the mics on this controller? I noticed they are selling a separate audio mode controller that can control up to 7 devices but wasn't sure if this did TV mode and audio mode with sync. I am thinking about putting dreamlights + 2 bar + 2 separate strips in my kid's dorm room.

    • @ChrisMaherDIY
      @ChrisMaherDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Thanks as always for watching buddy! So you can do music sync but its what I would consider a basic version with not nearly as many features/options as if you were going into each devices music settings separately. So if you have the tv sync on and all the devices are synced up to the color, you can also turn on sound which will then pulsate the colors that are naturally there due to the screen mirroring. The other thing you can do is create a scheme and add all the devices. You can then control all them at once and there is a sound option in this setting but it will only display 1 color at a time across all the devices. Unless someone else knows a different way, thats what i've found out!

      Thank you for your reply. :)
      It is worth trying!
      I have to say, I'm really enjoying your videos!
      I really enjoy tech devices, too, especially lights!
      I'm going to be doing the kitchen cabinet lights you did, they look like an electrician installed them!
      I'm also getting the Govee M1 lights to decorate my entertainment center, the Govee hexagon lights (or the glide, haven't decided for sure, yet).
      Also, I'm considering the security camera hack you did & will be installing security cameras, too!

    Can you connect this with a govee led stripe, imo it's simpler (looking)

    @xxpr0diam0ndxx70 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can you cut the strip when setting up to fit the tv better? I have 43in and it’s too long and the color is in the wrong side

  • @tankster90

    Does this allow you to sync non-govee lights that are compatible with smart home technologies?

    • @ChrisMaherDIY
      @ChrisMaherDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think any other products would be able to sync through this dreamview but I think Govee's lights in general have some smart home capabilities so I think you could combine things like that (turn on, turn off, change color etc) but not do something like is being done in the video if that makes sense! Thanks for watching and great question!

  • @chrismunroe-martyn9120
    @chrismunroe-martyn9120 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just so you know setting it up to use all of the lights is a bad idea only because the camera will pick up glare on the screen and the colors will end up not matching as well when setting up dreamview for a full experience when you have more than just the TV lights it's best to only sink the lights that would be out of you of the cameras or that won't shine glare onto the screen

    • @ChrisMaherDIY
      @ChrisMaherDIY  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much for watching and very true! I first tried putting my govee glide on the entire mantel but it was too close to the camera and it picked up the light and colors were off. Having the glide off to the right side of the mantel only did not seem to effect the camera at all and colors looked good when it was positioned there.

    @ChrisMaher Ist there any kind of list which govee products can be connected with dreamview like in the video?

      That's a great question! I'll reach out to them and see if they have any kind of list that they update. That would for sure be good to know!

    i have my Govee floor lamp on position 16, on the corner opposite of my Tv. which is the best set up for the segments to mirror colours from every side of the TV?

    • @ChrisMaherDIY
      @ChrisMaherDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much for watching! I think it boils down to personal preference and testing things out but I would probably put the top 3 segments of the lamp to correspond to 5 and the bottom 3 segments of the lamp to correspond to 6 if that makes sense.

    Great video Chris. Question for you, can you provide a link to the connector cables you mentioned at 1:20 of the video? I have purchased some in the past and the problem I ran into is the colors nor staying consistent throughout the LED strip. Thanks!

    • @ChrisMaherDIY
      @ChrisMaherDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching buddy! So the connector wires in this instance are the ones that govee just has connecting the strips together as part of the product. I know what your saying though with the connectors. The ones I've used in the past do work but sometimes requires them to be in the perfect spot for a good connection and if it gets bumped even slightly the lights go crazy. Not ideal. Soldering is the way to go but here are the ones i've used with decent results: amzn.to/3d7OUIN

    How are you connecting to the other devices? This is not a hard connection right? I have the H6199 and the H6054 bars and I cannot get the h6199 to see the other govee. Are you using some other go between?

    • @ChrisMaherDIY
      @ChrisMaherDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! No hard connection. Everything is done over the app (I'm not sure if they are connecting to each other via Bluetooth or WIFI) Maybe reach out to Govee tech support and see what they say might be the issue. In my experience, they have been very responsive!

    would the bluetooth only light strips from govee work here, or do they all have to wifi aswell?

    • @ChrisMaherDIY
      @ChrisMaherDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not 100% sure on the exact models that are compatible. There are so many different models and types of led strips that Govee has, its hard to keep track! I would probably reach out to Govee and give them the model number of the lights you have and see if they can look up compatibility. Thanks for watching and sorry I'm not 100% sure on this one!

    It looks amazing and I’m gonna order the 65” govee kit but the other lights i feel would be too distracting for me personally. I love the look though.

      Thanks for watching buddy! Lol I think the hexa light panels might have been a little too much but one thing I like to do is just listen to relaxing music channels that have calm backgrounds. On those, the colors really wont be fading in and out and it actually creates a cozy vibe. I had some jazz music on yesterday with a coffee shot image that was the classic browns and brick color scheme and it was pretty cool how the room transformed to match the coffee shop vibe!

      Also look at recent Gareth Emery sets and play your music over his light shows or put on drone videos (scenic relaxation, homemade espresso) with your music for something relaxing.

    Is there a way to sync both - Philips Hue Ambilight TV Strip with Govee Hexa Pro so they mimic the image from my laptop/TV? Maybe Home assistant can act as a bridge?
