    **NOTE:**
After making this video I did ask Govee if Dolby Atmos and eArc was was supported they said both are supported but they only support the bypass/pass-through, not decode.

This is it. Thank you so much for such a comprehensive video. It basically answers all the questions I had about these sync boxes. Fancyleds for me. Just ordered after watching this video. All of them have their pros and cons and it really depends on what each person values the most. In my case I would be willing to put the money if Phillips Hue was the ultimate forever solution. But it is not. Fancyleds does not integrate with other Hue or Govee lights but they are the best at what they do. Couple that with some apps like Hue Essentials on Android or the PC Hue App, and you can even have a relatively decent integrated solution when using non DRM applications like TH-cam or gaming on PC. It's not perfect but it's a good middle ground. Much cheaper too. By the way. Fancyleds is being updated. It seems they now support VRR at 144hz as well like the Govee. Check on site.

Everything that you NEED just to get started with the Philips option costs you a whole PS5.... that's just ridiculous pricing. The minimum they could've done is bundled the LED strips in the box. Thank you for the video!

Why no one talks about the fact that the Philips hue strip has only 7 segments of different color, which means that the box only takes into account the dominant color of each quarter of the screen. I have had the Philips hue sync box for more than 6 months, when a bright color appears on the screen it is well retransmitted, but when it comes to several colors side by side, the lightstrip only transmits a mixture of all these colors which gives a really less precise and immersive result. I'm thinking of going to Fancy leds, to have more precision in colors and more dynamism

It's really sad that the box doesn't officially support PCs. I have one, and it's great, but I have to use some workarounds with the right DisplayPort to HDMI adapters or a DisplayPort to HDMI 2.1 cable to get HDR working. I also have to restart the box to get a picture, but the LEDs are amazing, with perfect dimming and light accuracy.
The price of Philips is insane! I didn't even pay half of that for my FancLED box, and it came with the LED strips included.
If they could make it work seamlessly with PCs as well, this would be the GOAT product.

I have a dreamscreen which is one of the og systems. I also have an older receiver which is not 4k and can't transfer a 4k signal to a tv. You can buy a 4k splitter and run the 4k right to the tv and I use the other half to run to the sync box and then to the receiver for surround sound.

@GeekStreet search it on TH-cam im pretty sure there's stuff around. They actually sold their design to Phillips hue. It was fairly pricey. Phillips kind of dumbed down the product but improved on the sync box. Dreamscreen had sidekick lights but their product also had enough issues for them to ditch it. Had they stuck around a few more years I think they would have stayed in business, but there wasn't much interest or demand for it then (probably 6 to 7 years ago). It's gained a ton of popularity in the last few years

I just upgraded to the FancyLeds new RGBW-IC strip from the standard strip they provided with the single port 2.1 box.
The difference is truly night and day, I never had the original 96 led strip as I decided to wait on the new strip with the dedicated white LEDs so I can't comment on the differences between those 2 but the new RGBW-IC strip really is superb and the new firmware they provided for it is much better as well.
One caveat is that if you upgrade the strip like I did then you have to fill out a form so they can push the firmware to you directly which took about 12 hours or so for me, if you buy the box then it'll arrive with the new firmware pre installed.
Finally, I'll just say that their customer service is absolutely first class, there's a lag in response as they're based overseas but they will always sort you out, literally the best company I've ever dealt with.

    Very good all-round video.
Hey, I don't know if it's from a software update but Fancyleds is also now compatible with 4k 144Hz and VRR. It is advertised on their website.
I wanted to point out that several times throughout the video you mention eARC support, but as far as I am aware, none of them are eARC compatible, they are ARC only.

@@GeekStreet From the "Compatibility" section on the product page: "ARC is supported, however, eARC is currently not."
In their FAQ, there's a more nuanced answer:
ARC is fully compatible with all Fancy Sync Box models, enabling Dolby Atmos support. The Fancy Sync Box also works with eARC ports on your TV by maintaining separate connections. For example:
HDMI Device > Fancy Sync Box > TV
      Soundbar > TV eARC port
All sound from your HDMI devices will be routed to your soundbar.

Not sure why anyone likes Philips Hue Sync Box seeing as the price is way too high to not come with strip lights for the TV is insane. Not to mention Philips Hue has serious lag and is not nearly as vibrant. GOVEE is the ONLY WAY TO GO!! I’ve owned the original Govee 4K AI Sync Box for 2 years now and have recently updated to the new Govee 8K AI Sync Box 2. Also not sure why you had issues with your Sonos on Govee because I have 2 Sonos home theater set ups with the Arc, Sub, and Era 300s and I have NEVER had any issues with audio. Nonetheless, GOVEE is by far superior to all the other options in every category no matter what your needs are… I can’t believe you would choose Philips over Govee… makes no sense.

Great video. Thank you very much.🙏🏻 I've had the new Govee Sync Box since yesterday and I noticed that the color reproduction on Blu Rays is much more accurate than when I watch a 4k Blu Ray. Colors often appear that aren't even visible on the screen. Is there any trick to fix this?

    • @GeekStreet
      @GeekStreet  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Thanks, I wonder if thats HDR related, see if there is an option on your blueray player to temporarily turn off hdr to see if that makes a difference also try adjusting the saturation levels and colours calibration too see if that helps. Let me know how it goes hopefully it'll help others too.

I watch films on my Xbox Series X. I've tried different things again turned off HDR, switched down salturation and the only thing that has changed is that the LEDs turn off in dark scenes now, which they didn't do with HDR on. The colours are still not right on the 4K Blu-ray, for example, orange tones are displayed when there are red tones on the screen. The same film on the normal Blu-ray displays the colours correctly. Hopefully Govee can fix this with an update.

Literary it picks up light source from where there is no light at all (oversaturated blue). Second thing is orange colour representation. It's literally displayed as green 🤦 SDR work impressive apart from orange colour. HDR is bad and oversaturated even in medium.
