Funny timing, about a week ago I rediscovered the soundtrack to this game and against all odds it’s kind of amazing. 12 tracks and they managed to cover such a breadth of genres.

A THPS-engine developed Disney game really only could’ve happened in the 2000’s, and I can’t help but love it because of that.
"Jesus, look at this grown adult excited to play a skateboard game designed for children!" Never change, you glorious bastard. Hawktober Year 5 was just as great as previous years.
THIS FUCKING GAME.
Me and a childhood friend of mine would play this (and SvR 2007) all day. We had so much fun. Still remember us 2 playing as Woody and Buzz, in Olliewood, while "Spinnin Around" by Jump5 was playing in the background... and I'd always kick his ass.

I don't think there's any set of songs I know better than the SvR 07 soundtrack. Fucking legendary game.

this is the game that got me into the tony hawk franchise, I remember playing it at a mcdonalds kiosk, and then renting it at a movie rental place for a weekend after that. Then eventually buying it, and checking out other skateboarding games aka the tony hawk franchise.
I worked at a daycare in high school that had some gamecubes and this was for sure one of the kids favorite games

Less than a minute in and that's a whopper detail I had no idea about... that this game ran on the *actual* THPS engine?! A cool bit of info... even if the end result is kinda meh.
Kinda had a feeling this would be the skateboarding game to end off Hawktober 2021, shame you're only doing 4 videos this year though, how come? (Probably explained in the first episode of Hawktober, but wasn't paying attention) ☹ But yeah I've heard great things about Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure and it plays a lot like Pro Skater 3 and 4, due to having the same game engine.

If I had to guess, it's because of Jak's home situation, since he had moved out for a year, ended up having to move back home, and had to move out somewhere else, it could be just simple videos until Jak can get a place to rent again.

Hearing Jak point out how Al's Toy Barn should've been in the game makes me want to see him do a review of the Toy Story 2 PS1 game. It's actually quite fun.

Great timing, just managed to catch up watching the other Disney Skateboarding vids so I know from the get go, this'll end strongly.

The soundtrack is solid in this game. It’s as memorable as any other Tony Hawk soundtrack for me.
The game might lack in trick number, but the whole game make it up with attention care and personality, every character got their unique move and animation (bailing, getting back up, idle animation, stance etc.), and a different interface depending of the movie, and the level are mostly good, it's a shame that only the kids can go in every level ( and the create a skater has a lot of option and item too), but other than that it's good as it plays and feel like a Tony Hawk's game. Also when I first played that game it was without sound as it was in a restaurant, so when I finally own that game, I was pleasantly surprise to hear a real life soundtrack (that is quite good, there is only two song that I personally think that it doesn't fit at all) as I thought it would have been Disney stuff

Activison must’ve gotten a lotta money from McDonalds in 2003 between this game and Underground 1. It’s just a little bit disturbing.

I feel weirdly nostalgic for this game despite hardly playing it because my copy was scratched and would crash all the time, good to know it's better left in my memories 😅
Finally this is the game I've been waiting for you to review ever since you said you were doing Hawktober this is one of my favourite skating games I've ever played it's a shame that this game but never got a sequel would have loved to have seen more Pixar characters like the Monsters Inc characters also I'm completely fine with the soundtrack
I’m actually shocked the controls worked for you. I have this for GameCube, and I decided to pick it up again after finding “Andy’s Room” in THPS1+2, to see how it held up. Before the remaster was released I played through THUG 1 and 2 and THAW, so I KNOW what buttons are what with it in my recent muscle memory. I hop in, select woody, Andy’s room… and literally every trick button did whatever the fuck it wanted! X, Y, and B all did Grind, grab, and flipping. Accompany that with how heavy it felt and I just put the game away, sad and pissed off.
Oh yeah so you didn't turn on pro controls in the menu. If you don't turn on pro controls in the menu then the game turns into a game for babies lol. Then the controls you know from the TH games will work.
Select pro controls. Your problem is fixed

I used to play this on GBA. I absolutely sucked at it, and couldn't complete a single level.

Great video! ...Man, this would've been my jam if I had it way back when. Seeing as I was (and still kind of am) big on Disney and the Tony hawk's pro skater games.
I still remember finding the GBA version for 5 cents in the bargain bin at my local Target.

Nice video dude, I think a Disney skateboarding game could be really rad if it leant more into being authentically Disney and less Punk. Off the top of my head Whinnie the Pooh, 101 Dalmations and Lilo and Stitch would fit in perfectly. And Hercules a syou said, not to mention like a big hero 6 san fran sokyo level
I mean when you really think about it, there are so many Disney movies with really interesting universes with stand out characters that they could have really gotten creative with the level designs. I'm currently playing through this game. The levels kinda suck imo. It would have been awesome to see some nightmare before Christmas stuff. The sound track has a couple great songs but other than that the sound track pierces your ears.
Yeah some of the songs aren't so good. Alice in Wonderland would've been really cool too

Great special this year as always, Jak. Maybe next year you could take a look at the Skate franchise, with the trilogy on PS3 and 360, as well as Skate It on Wii and DS. That would be nice to see.

This game feels like it shouldn’t have existed ever but my childhood is so happy that it did. Fucking amazing game.
Why stop at just Toy Story, Tarzan and Lion King if they could've added more like Monsters Inc., A Bug's Life, Lilo and Stitch, Hercules, Treasure Planet, Mickey Mouse, etc. and I wish they added more levels for each world like Andy's New House, Sid's House, Al's Toy Barn, Al's Penthouse, Dinoco Gas Station and Tarzan and Lion King levels with more interesting designs. Maybe some extra playable characters like Scar, Adult Tarzan or Stinky Pete?
If I made a remake I would add more series and more content to existing franchises like add characters from Toy Story 3 and 4 and locations from Toy Story 3 and 4 as well as more from 1 and 2 and same goes for the Tarzan and Lion King. Not only those, but graphics more accurate to each movie's appearences, online play, four player, more missions and all of those stuff. This game is one of the games I would remake if I were Disney along with Cars, Toy Story 2, Hercules, etc.
I played this game years ago at my uncle's gf house because her son had it. I always found it weird they used young versions of the tarzan cast. It was a dumb decision. I guess they did that because they wanted to appeal to kids. I thought the game was okay. I think it should've had more movies. That's another dumb decision. Why include 3 movies and not a few more at least ? Maybe 4-5 more would've been nice. Mulan, aladdin, hercules, and lilo & stitch to name a few. Looking back it's kinda crazy how we weren't really getting disney crossover console games. Nickelodeon were pumping those out like crazy during the 2000s. Even cartoon network were slacking on that. All we got from them was cartoon network racing during the mid 2000s while cartoon network punch time explosion and cartoon network battle crashers released during the 2010s. When it comes to disney all we got was this game, disney channel all-star party (even though that's just with live action characters), and disney infinity. I guess things might change though since we have disney speedstorm releasing soon. Would be cool if we could get a platform fighter out of them, a disney party (with the cartoon characters this time), and maybe another open world game that's similar to disney infinity.
Man, I hacked my WiiU with the Gamecube and Virtual Wii is on there my neighbours asked me why are you playing Wii? I couldn't think of a good enough answer except because I feel like it. Almost like what u said. The Wii has tons of titles I can enjoy. I watch TH-cam to G me up by watching Metal Jesus advice on games in hidden gems and I'm ready to go. Why don't some of the character's skateboards have wheels? I understand Tarzan and Simba live in the wild where skateboards don't exist so they use a leaf or a piece of wood but it just seems off that they are just sliding on the ground, they could have made wheels and trucks out of natural objects in their environment so it at least looks some what realistic. I realize this is a petty nit pick but I am curious to the logic behind this design.

If you are gonna play a Toy Story game, you GOTTA play Toy Story 3. Also Toy Story 2 is excellent. Both are fantastic.

This gives me Angry Video Game Nerd vibes.. honestly I love this game to this day, I know this game has its problems but honestly I love it and I get addicted trying to find the different collectables, breaking my high score and find the secret gaps. The soundtrack is also my childhood and features two songs that I absolutely love. Toy Story, Lion King and Tarzan are also three Disney movies that are favorites of mine. So yeah, this is a game I surprisingly go back to once every year
My Mom and I had gone into this video store in the evening on Christmas Eve. I was maybe 8 or 9. I wandered straight to the game section they had this new game out and I played it and instantly fell in love. I had never heard of the game before and I didn’t know the name of it but I begged my mom for it and told her I had to have this game for Christmas no matter what and it was my priority to have this game and nothing else. But she told me it was too late to ask for more gifts. I went to bed dejected that night. Sure enough the next day it was under the tree. It was the happiest Christmas of my life. If I hadn’t played that game for 5 minutes on Christmas Eve then I wouldn’t have had a childhood full of fun memories with this game.
Soundtrack to this game can get a little annoying, but man Downfall by Trustcompany and The Energy by Audiovent are two super solid songs I first had heard playing that game and was always banging my head to them. Pacific Coast Party is still a guilty pleasure of mine as well haha 😂
Totally agree with your review though, I played this game a lot as a kid but I honestly don't think I could go back and play it, sometimes it's just best to leave the memories alone and just remember the great times you had with the game when you were young

Matthewbraith 0 For tips: charge your jumps for higher altitude, for speed characters tap jump midair to get on grindrails, and rings upgrade your board. The tutorials aren't good in game.

Of course you can't play as any character in any level. Disney is notorious for putting a bunch of there stuff together in one game and then not letting them mix. Kingdom hearts, Disney infinity, etc. It's so dumb. I wanna play as Zurg at pride rock God damnit!
i think the shittyness of the game and the terrible levels just made the game more and more nostalgic for me. And the soundtrack is so sick apart from like 2 songs, but i litterally didn't listen to a single one of the songs for about 13 years and when i heard them for the first time again, *the Nostalgia*
Also yeah the Mcdonalds was amazing, and you didn't mention all the little easter egg stuff like jumping in the river and it saying "You're not a fish" or something, and the jumping over the vent, and going in the chimney on the boat level. It all just made it charming and just like ughhh. But looking at it now all your points are just yeah ugh.
Long story short, all Disney skateboarding games suck, while this on consoles is fairly mediocre. And now that another Hawktober has come to an end, it'll be interesting to see what other skateboarding games Jak will cover in the years to come. And since Halloween isn't that popular in Australia, this at least gives people a reason to look forward to October on a channel that doesn't even do Halloween specials!

It’s funny because this game is somewhat responsible to why I skate today as it was something that only made me wanna skate more and more, this game for what it was developed and decent. I thought for a cartoon franchise it wasn’t horrible has the idea and concept right just poor follow through, this was one of my favorite games tho as a kid! I remember playing this on ps2 as a kid
Its probably too late for a hawktober vid but there was a ps2 game based off another disney movie called Treasure Planet. It was a Pro Skater and a Jak and Daxter clone. It would be interesting to see your thoughts on it!
Here in Germany they really got the original german voice actors for the Charakters.
I played this one years later emulated on dolphin. And after hours of mediocrity, vertical bullshit and not matching lines at all and odd challenges I gave up. I didn't even know you could unlock somebody, it was too hard for me to get through because this game is ass.

I know you only play Tony hawk clones but I wouldn't mind if you tried the Skate series it literally changed skate boarding games and gameplay and I would be interested in your opinion on the franchise or a review video but this video is cool too

Personally I love Olly world and the soundtrack. 10 years later and no joke those songs have made it to my personal playlist I have in my car
The various worlds of Disney movies do open up a lot of possibility for creative level design for a skateboarding game, but here, it is somewhat inconsistent. But it would be cool if every character could play in any level, imagine the character specific objectives of Woody doing something at Pride Rock, unfortunately, that's not the case here.
Oh, and, fun fact: Extreme Skate Adventure is one of the few Xbox games that is capable of 720p output.
It run at 720p because THPS4 also Run in 720p on Xbox due to having the Same Engine as that game.

love this game to this day and i honestly don't mind the soundtrack. it captures the mid 2000s perfectly. this game is essentially a time capsule
