Funny story. I used to have this friend who owned a PS2. He had a huge collection of PS2 games, and I remember picking up this exact game on his floor and then immediately being told by him to “not play that game”.
This was when he was 8 years old. Even back then, kids had standards.

It is so bizarre seeing past the first two levels of this game. You deserve bragging rights for showing those alone, let alone actually clearing them cause they look atrocious.
I’m happy we got to see the levels outside the first too I always wondered what they would be like oh boy how on earth did they test the game Did they play with moon gravity or Heavy Rock mode.

I only seen all of the levels because of a Codebreaker disc. Remember those? Unsurprisingly they were all shit lmao.
The Simpsons are known to parody a lot of things, so a parodied version of Pro Skater would have been great, but instead, there is a complete lack of focus on the game design and is ultimately underwhelmingtastic.
They were better at parodying grand theft auto and I guess crazy taxi to some extent

I had fun with Simpsons Wrestling as a kid... This game though? No fucking way was I having fun, this game was unplayable as a kid, because of how bad it controlled and how hard it was to pull off tricks.. I just couldn't.

First off, THANK YOU FOR DOING MORE THAN JUST THE FIRST 2 LEVELS WITH THIS. You have no idea how much that annoys me to no end with reviews of this game. It's just not even fair to me and comes off as a half assed piss take on a game with more potential than they let on. Also not shocked you went for Bart btw. I personally went for the person so many don't want to do: Homer. The jump isn't too much of an issue to me for the most part with him.
Next up, the flips and spins are a tad confusing, but they kinda stop when you realize you have to hold the buttons before making the jumps. You also have to do a grab to keep doing them, otherwise the game stops you automatically on 1 back/front flip or a 360 spin. The game DOES kinda tell you this, but it isn't very obvious.
I 100% agree with you on the separate player progression in the case of doing levels outside of the character you chose before. I have more issues with it personally, like how you HAVE to 100% the game with all of them to unlock all the movies and such and that none of the challenges ever really change, making it so, so repetitive and unfun.
Construction Site does pretty much suck. Its also the most confusing level to have out of anything with Simpsons back then, since there's rarely a moment where a construction site even shows up in the show. All the other levels have significance with the Simpsons in general, like Krustyland, the Mall, Itchy and Scratchy Land and Sir Putt-a-lots. But Construction Site is just... like, 2 episodes i think? And doesn't last long with its appearence either, just for a joke or two really. It's a weird choice.
Im kinda surprised you didn't notice the fact your grind balance always resets back to neutral, no matter what, if you jump and grind again. If you knew this, you'd find that stuff like the leftorium key challenge is easy, because you just need to keep small hopping and grinding up the rail. Every time you do it, you gain speed from it if you're also holding up/nosegrind. So you can get insane speed with little effort and get up to the key no problem.
Im also surprised you never checked the tricks really, and the whole special trick thing, which almost every trick literally leads to a full 360 rotation of the analog stick, and how you're made to do that with some of the main mode's goals, and with the Skillz School stuff, which honestly makes Skillz School the hardest of the 3 modes. The special tricks might be the worst thing in the entire game to me. They do not work correctly and are the worst to pull off, especially in a specific combo.
Personally, i don't find the game that bad, but i can respect your opinion, especially since you didn't just quit after the first 2 levels and actually tried with this. I also appreciate that you didn't give this game a 1/10 too, despite how much you found it terrible with what you said. This game does have things wrong with it, but there's worse skateboarding games and its not deserving of a 0/10 or 1/10 really.

Yeah it's a real piss off of mine too when people only shit on the first levels of anything really.
I was aware of the grind hop resetting things but that the leftorium key was still fucked imo given the harsh time limit and having to climb back up to the useless cunt.
Also the special tricks, I was rarely even able to execute them, let alone land one when I did. Video was already long enough, I couldn't find the best spot to give them a mention.
But yeah dude you're a champion. Dunno if I've mentioned it previously but I often follow your videos to help me get through, specifically Homer on the Gorge level just to figure out how to climb the hill inside the mountain to the top cause I couldn't figure it out. Tried getting on the lift but that didn't work, grind hopping didn't work.

Legit owned this game back in 02. I was 10 and absolutely loved The Simpsons and Tony Hawk. So I thought this would have been tailor made for me. Boy was I in for a major letdown. It’s been all downhill since….
If there is one thing about the mixed bag of early simpsons 2000s games is the art work is awesome

I'd rathere join the cannonball race from Crash Boom Bang; it might not be a good competition, but at least you can tell the grand prize is worth more money than what the Simpsons are skateboarding for.

I played this quite a bit back in the day and got pretty good at it but the itchy and scratchy getting chased to the pit mission killed the game for me. I spent unhealthy amount of time failing at that while everything else before that was nowhere near as infuriating. I was just hoping for good luck to get that done but it never happened. Probably the only time I have ever contemplated damaging a controller when playing a game.
Even though you are between homes again at the moment, this year's Hawktober is going strong as always. As a content creator you seem just unstoppable, so much passion. Keep it up! I'm sure everything else will fall into place soon as well, so hang in there man and take care of yourself.

This has to be the ultimate "how could you fuck this up?" kind of game, like what a missed opportunity. I wish so bad it was actually a good game or on the same level of quality as Hit and Run and Road Rage.

Worst skateboarding game ever!
It's honestly the worst Skateboarding game I've played, when I first bought it I never knew it had such terrible reviews. I had to use cheats to enjoy this game, as there was no information I could find on how to unlock the other characters or levels, when I was a kid.
It seems like a lot of The Simpsons games are trash, mainly the older ones.
I feel you might have had more success with this game if your controller had an “any” key.

6:50 - 7:15 Mad respect honestly. I've seen one too many TH-cam reviewers who do just this, especially for a game as awful as Bubsy 3D. You and Nitro Rad are pretty much my favorite content creators for this alone. Unlike most TH-cam reviewers, I always admire those who stick it out and tell more than just beyond the first hours they spend with a game regardless of its quality. Really, really mad respect for that.

thank you for actually playing through the whole game, I know it was probably the worst thing ever but it was actually interesting getting to see the whole game, since as you mentioned most other reviews just play or at the very least just show footage of the first level and nothing more, shows that you put much more effort into your reviews and good on you for doing that, even if it does result in probably permanent brain damage from playing this crap lol, awesome vid!

Disney was able to put Alien in the now defunct Great Movie Ride though.

I remember when I first discovered this game during a Simpsons craze I had leading up to the movie, I was always curious about it given the whole concept made sense with Bart and so on. But at the time, there was no gameplay footage for it up uptil the mid-10s when I rediscovered it and learned that it was really that bad for a few reviewers and later learned that the same devs also made those infamous Phoenix "games" that would have a crappy cartoon packed in with a bunch of interactive mini games once those started to hit popularity amongst reviewers.
Also I can't help how your voice reminds me Minty Comedic Arts but slightly pitched down.

Man this is a great episode glad to see someone play this game fully through instead of the first 2 levels, but yeah the only other "Disney" Skateboarding game there is, is Disney Extreme Skateboarding which was the one to bring over multiple Disney Characters in a crossover game to skate, looking forward to that one soon as I seen Jak do the Disney Skateboarding games Marathon.

Simpsons Skateboarding was basically filler between Road rage and Hit & Run. I guess FOX wanted at least one game out per year.

I like the reward being $99, just enough to be a lot, but not enough to be worth all the effort a player character has to do.
Great review Jack! Sad to see Hawktober has one vid left, but I will be looking forward to next year’s. A suggestion for a next Hawktober would be the “modern” skateboarding games (2016-2022).
