Windows 11 has one big problem that makes it worse than windows 10, which made windows 10 sorta good. The legacy of Windows 7. A lot of the features we had in windows 10 were based on or were created of things we had back in windows 7. Microsoft is doing the most they can though to make sure windows 7's influence is as long gone as possible, as we have lost a lot of features XP/7/10/(8 maybe) had. It is a new era, and not the greatest one at that.

Windows 7 is my favourite OS, but looking at how clean windows 11 is, I cant say I mind the changes. Windows 10 was repeatedly mangling legacy features such as the control panel, and also the whole issue of duplicate software. (snipping tool existing right next to snip & sketch for no reason is an example)
I havent upgraded yet, but it would be nice if windows 11 had some kind of legacy support still built in for some applications (id probably die if they removed msconfig)
Im gonna be doing my fair share of research before jumping from 10 to 11.

@@bololollek9245 Yeah after doing a bit of digging im sticking with 10 for now.
I dont mind that they went for a excessively clean style, but the new context menu api and the inability to move the taskbar atm is kind of a deal breaker for me.
Also on the topic of the control panel, the release build of win10 was great, but I cant stand how the old control panel now links up with the new settings. Its beyond jarring.

Just tried to "upgrade" to windows 11 today and loved how I could easily revert to windows 10. I have an MSI GS66 stealth and the upgrade overwhelmed my CPU, maxed out fan speed, and was just quite unnecessary with the oversimplicity on offer. The two most useful features of Windows 10 to me are taskbar customization and the integrated calendar and the two of them are just gone for no apparent reason. Will not be using Windows 11 any time soon.

Windows 10 is fine and will be fine for many years to come -- even past EOL in October of 2025. Windows Server 2022 (logically released in 2021) is based on Windows 10, so users could switch to that if they must have security updates.
And frankly, Windows 8.1 and 7 scrape past the line of usability for now, and security updates are available for both of these OSes, albeit only through piracy. My point is, other options are still more than suitable.

It's quite old as you can see but it isn't bad either since the only thing limiting the performance of the computer is the graphic card. Also on that drive, the only thing stored in it is the programs the computer needs to run. We have separate drives for everything else 1 for pictures and 1 for everything else

But at least what happened to me when I ran Windows 11 on "unsupported hardware" in the dev channel in the insider program, when I tried to install a new build it wouldn't let me because of "unsupported hardware". Security updates was fine but I think why it was not letting because upgrading to new builds uses the same upgrade libraries as when you install the OS. Though the registry hack you do when booting from the install medium will solve the issue.

    The symbol search is great.

And we're still left wondering why is Control Panel still not fully integrated into Settings? And why are we still presented with a link to "View homegroup settings" when that function is no longer available? So many loose ends still not resolved after all these years. What's funny is people actually get paid to "design" this mess.

We’re so used to it being in the bottom left corner) , it constantly forces you to use an online account, I’ve heard that performance is worse in some areas, the TPM requirement is absolute bullsh*t a Ryzen 1st generation and Intel 7th gen is *more than adequate* to run Windows 11 just fine with no performance issues and overall I just strongly dislike the OS in general. One thing I've noticed since Windows 10 is the lack of options Microsoft is willing to give it's customers. You would thing that would be a good thing to give it's customers the flexibility to run Windows the way they want to, but I guess it's not that important for them.

    • @triplume
      @triplume 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Exactly. This is why people use Windows, for its flexibility. They're adopting macOS' philosophy, but the thing that made Windows win against macOS was the flexibility. Now they're becoming macOS... and guess what, Mac is one step ahead, and MS is always one step behind if they copy them.

Good video =) I have seen videos and articles mention these same points. I waited until both my laptop and desktop were able to receive the update and will update this weekend. I would caution users to be thoughtful about their unique situation and needs and not get too wrapped up in the hype. For example none of the items mentioned in this video bother me in any way. I LOVE the new interface (I tested for two weeks on a VM - in fact writing this comment in a WIN 11 VM). Just don't get caught up in hating on the OS because a power user will probably have different expectations than someone who just browses youtube and facebook. Heck, most of my co-workers didn't even know what the start button was or that you could pin/remove apps to customize it. They aren't going to notice something like the missing right-click menu.

A missing context menu would make me absolutely crazy and I'm about as far from a power user as you can get.

Good Lord, why do they think less options is better? There's a reason so many people don't use Macs!

I have no issues with Windows 11. Installed it on my laptop as a pilot and it’s running smooth. I’d say it’s worth the update.

You can right click the start menu to get the options, always been like that.
but i think that microsoft teams starting up when your computer starts up is annoying and it forces you to go into compatibility mode for windows 8 to remove it from startup apps, because if you don't it will go and force you to submit a feedback survey to get security updates

    I'm actually really enjoying it.
At first I was uncertain on upgrading although after using the system for about 5 days now its actually quite a well thought of system.
It feels almost like an Apple OS software without the restrictions.
The gaming features are quite handy as well.(Auto HDR and Xbox Game Pass)
I'm excited for the future implementations they bring to windows 11.

I'm planning on sticking to Windows 10 for the following reasons:
1- I personally find Windows 11 to be ugly with the new iconsets and simplicity
2- Windows 11 got rid of easy task manager opening from the taskbar and the old desktop right click features
3- I've already stopped downloading Windows 10 updates because they slowed down my pc, so I'll be fine without updates in 2025.
Basically, you'd be fine with Windows 10 later if you're not visiting sketchy websites and whatnot.

Another reason is that when you want to change the name of a document or a picture in the file explorer is that you need one more click than in Windows 10.

2:07 Unless they fix all those "new taskbar" problems, especially the omission of dragging files to an Explorer window, they shouldn't even consider users like me upgrading to their new OS version that consists of only one layer of bad makeup

Suggestion, before upgrading to win 11. Record a restore point. Because if you can't boot into win11 and glitch out into boot loop you can use it to go back. : )

You know, it's funny you used the term 'rush'. When Win 11 came out, it turned out I needed to upgrade my processor. I rushed into it. Fortunately for me, the chip I needed was compatible with my motherboard. But because I rushed into it, I got the chip brand new from Amazon for a good bit less than half of what it sells for now. Works great, and runs way faster than it did before, and I saved nearly $700.00 USD. I got lucky.
Personally, I like Windows 11. It's quick, and for me at least, it runs good. I liked it enough that I entered the Insider program, at the beta level. Once that was done, I will admit I ran into some issues, but that's what beta testing is all about. Even so, for the most part it's smooth sailing.
Change can be scary, even in such a thing as your operating system. But change is part of our reality. Nothing remains static, or it just decays. Sure, I really liked Windows 10, and do miss some of the features that were changed or removed, but I choose to lean into the change instead of resisting it as hard as I could. This way, I'm able to enjoy something new, and as a beta tester (which is not for everyone, and that's a fact) I'm able to help a little bit in making things better for everyone.
Really, my only major issue is the new hardware requirements. The timing was perfect for me just by sheer chance. I had the funds available, which is a rarity for me, and caught one of the last few Threadripper gen 2s at the reduced price. By less than one hour. Yeah, I got lucky, but I'm still a bit salty over the new requirements. Still, change is inevitable. Embrace it or hate it, but you can't escape it.

I hate how they making it much harder to set default apps. In Windows 11, you need to set manually the defaults for file types and protocols.
