I’ve also learned that if you’re at an event and they don’t have wifi, you can still take credit/debit payments in the “offline” mode in Square and they will process the next time you do have wifi. 👍🏻
I didn't know that! That's super helpful information! Thank you! 😁😊
That’s awesome to know!
Try not doing offline. I’ve read a few negatives on that and people being able to dismiss charges?? Look into that.
That's cool to know ty
I have had so many questions about starting my crochet business. Thank you for these videos, Camryn! They have helped me so much. About five minutes after watching this video, I downloaded the Square app and started exploring.
You are so welcome!:) so glad it helped!
love your energy and your information! just started a business and having a couple of shows in the next month and this is helping us big time!!
This is so exciting! So glad you love the videos!:)
Thank you for all the helpful info! I’ll definitely be using it for inventory tracking this year. Thanks to you I also learned I can set up a website through square so now everything will work together!
Yes I did this too! It’s so nice to have everything linked :)
This is an awesome video. My first show is next Saturday. I ordered my free square reader last night. Your tips for the more settings and customization really helped.
Camryn, you are such a life-saver!
I have my very first market coming up on May 4th, and I feel so prepared and ready to launch! Nervous, but prepared.
Thanks to you, I have brought my brand to life before my own eyes like magic.
I just signed up for square and my card reader will be here soon so I can play around in the app.
I can never ever thank you enough for your guidance!
-Heather
Omg! Thank you so much for doing this video. I’ll definitely be looking into this!
Of course! Glad it was helpful :)
Hey friends!!!❤ Hope this video was helpful!😊 Do we need a Pt 2 with more of my fav features? 😍❤️
Yesss please share! Love your enthusiasm, it gets me totally excited to start using Square :)
Yes please!!
I know you mentioned in another video that you can sell online through Square (as opposed to through Etsy), but I can't remember if you said you use that as your online sales platform or not. I'm in the process of making my website/sales portal through Square, and I'd love to see that in a part 2, if that's possible. Thanks!
Yes! Also when someone pays cash at a vendor event do you add sales tax? Or just include it so you don’t have to mess with change?
@@sarahyount4713 I include it with cash so I don’t have to mess with change :)
Super fun to see all of those options ! Thanks for sharing
You are so welcome!:)
I found you couple of days ago.. I so appreciate all the information that your videos have and the tutorials.. Thank you so much.. I was thinking about doing markets and now I definitely feel like I can do this because of all your great information . Thank you Your a blessing.. 😎
You are so welcome!:)
Girl this video is too good and superrr informative, a big thank you! ❤
Awww yay! I’m SO glad!!❤️
This video was very helpful! I'm new to square, just started using the card reader! Now, I feel like I have a better understanding how the app works! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!:)
Thank you, I’ll be a first time Square user at my very first show this week so super helpful.
I'm so excited for you! I'd love to hear what you think of it after your markets :)
Thank you thank you thank you and bless you for this video. I have my square somewhat setup but not nearly this detailed. I will be working on this tonight. Happy Crocheting and I wish you all the best in your business ❤️❤️
Thanks! Glad it was helpful! :)
you’ve got a new subscriber! very informative and to the point and not confusing. thank you!!
I’m so glad it was helpful!❤️
Thanks for your information!! I loved your energy!!!❤
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching :)
This was so helpful!! Thank you ❤😊
This was soooo helpful - thank you! Subscribed!
Awesome! Thank you!:)
I could not find ANY videos about inventory, so thank you. This was insanely helpful
Glad it helped!:)
This is so helpful, I'm finally entering my market era, so I may need to check this out!! Where I'm from, the sales tax is 11.5%, but because of an artisan license, I'm not required to charge it. I gotta work with all that.
Wow I thought mine was high!!! So excited for you to try markets :)
This video is so helpful!! I got square for my first market in a few weeks and was so confused on how to use it 😅 but now I feel ready to go! 🎉
Yay!!! So glad this was helpful:)
This video is not for Male. Don't watch it your ears will start ringing and your head is trying to explode. Not much input but loads of female busy very fast and hectic speech 😂. Sorry I'm sure it's stuffed with good information but I had to turn it of at 7 min. I could not handle it anymore 🤭
Slow the speed in settings. There is a lot of good info in the video.
Thanks so much for this video!! I just got a square reader recently and can't wait to use it this year at markets! Fun fact that I just found out when I re-logged into my Square account on my phone, you can actually use your iPhone to accept contactless payments now!!! Go figure XD
Wow this is awesome!!!🤩 so excited for you to use it at markets!!!❤️
Straight to the point with no bullshit! Love it..
I’m glad!
Hi Camryn…I would love to see you do a video on how to find and sign up for markets. That had seriously been my biggest challenge! Thank you!
That video is coming soon! :)
@@camryns_cute_creations awesome!!!!
Definitely need to find your other video about inventory and sku numbers. Just got my reader a couple of weeks ago and havent taken it out if the box! 😂
Haha totally:) hope the video is helpful!
Hey friend I’m so happy I stumbled across your video.. You really explained everything so great thank you so much I really had no idea that you can keep track of all of your inventory thanks so much
Glad it was helpful!:)
so helpful thank you!!!
You're so welcome!:)
Camryn, love you’re videos! They have been super helpful in calming my nerves in this new venture. Question: do you personally track cash payments through the square app too? Another question…. Do you have a vendors license/tax Id number/ LLC?? These questions are the main thing holding me back form my first market, I’m overwhelmed!
Yes you can put your cash sales through square as well! & I have a sole proprietorship business license :)
@camryns_cute_creations does venmo charge fees on cash sales?
Oh I love the sku idea! So much faster. Now to watch price tag video lol
Right? It works great! :)
Great video! Thank you!
Thank you! :)
Hiya! Have you talked about packaging for items at markets before? Like, what carrier bags are good/preferred for markets, labelling items etc? Thank you for all the market content, I am going through it all atm in prep for mine!
So exciting!!:) I don't have a full video on this but I love ordering white paper bags with handles in bulk from amazon and using a stamp with my logo from Etsy to add my logo!!! :)
Hey, is there a way to add a shipping option in the square app? I can only find shipping for online orders and not for the app. I want to add a shipping option for custom orders at my craft fairs.
I love the fact that we have tap to pay on the square app now so i dont need the reader now just tap and done!
Great video! Would you happen to know if your website inventory be integrated with Square, instead of manually entering all your products on your square card reader?
I'll have to look into that! I know there are some integration options!
Great video!!!!! ❤
Thank you! ❤️
im comparing mobile pos for my Start up Estate Sale business. this video helped me a lot. thanks. is there somewhere on ther to charge the customer the credit fee as well as the tax? in my industry its pretty well know the customer pays the credit fees.. im hoping there is another place to add additional fees to charge
do you use your square for cash payments so you can charge them the sales tax?
Completely different type of question....So i recently bought an inkless printer on Amazon for like 14 bucks.... do you think there is a way to print receipt from square on there?
Btw i am obsessed with your videos your vibe is incredible and honestly you are the only person i can find worth watching for market advice! Love the work you put into everything! Stay amazing! ❤❤❤
Awww I’m so glad the videos have been helpful!:) I haven’t looked into the printing receipts feature but I’m sure there is one! Lots of coffee shops around here use square and I’ve seen them do printed receipts :)
So informative! Thanks so much. Also, where did you get your neon sign made? So cute! Is it a company that can make special requests? Thanks a bunch.
Thanks so much! The sign was a a Christmas gift:) I'll have to check the brand!
I love Square! I just reviewed the chip/contactless reader and was looking for a good overview of Square. I'll link your video!
Thanks so much! I want to try that one out next!
Thank you for the info... I can't find too much info in Spanish and find you explain (a little fast I can say), but the caption help me lol 😂😂😂. I'll use square in my next Craft Fair!!!
I'm so glad I've been able to help! :) If you ever have a question, please don't hesitate to reach out with an email or comment! :) I'd love to hear how your next fair goes!
Is there a way to add an acknowledgment (of sorts) when processing a payment. For example: I’m wondering if I can add a note at the time of payment stating that if they are buying something with eyes or buttons that they acknowledge the item is not for children under 3 years of age. Maybe I’m just being paranoid but just thinking of any sort of liabilities and having a record that they were informed.
This is a great point! I’ll have to check on this!
Great video! Loved it! Any recommendations on Square’s Loyalty Program?
Okay this maybe a weird question. But I'm signing up for square and it's asking me to put an address for my business but since it's a mobile business (since we do craft shows) I'm not sure what address to put? You don't use your personal address right? Do you use a PObox address?
A PO Box would be a great this to put here instead! If not, your home address will work!
Hi. I'm new at this. Everything is so updated these days, not just a si.ple cash drawer lol. Any who. I do not plan on making a super amount of revenue this first year because I will be keeping my day job. Can you tell me which square reader would be best for someone just getting started. I'm specifically wanting to keep track of inventory as well as profit made (easy tax filing).
Silly question, but do you collect sales tax at the rate of the city you’re doing a market in or is it always just at the rate of the city you live in? I hope that makes sense. The rates are different for the city I live in and the city I do markets in.
You will be collecting in the city you sold in! Hope that helps :)
I have a question for you. So I am making bracelets, and earrings. If I want to set this up, would I go by what I made, or do individual prices? Also, you can show pictures of it correct? I want to start using square when I go to the farmers market, or to places that I can set up a booth.
Yes, you can have pictures with Square! And I'm so sorry, but could you clarify your earlier question for me? I'd love to be able to help :)
@@camryns_cute_creations, does square have a website that you can post up your items for everyone to look at, and then they can pay for their items in there?
Wait so it this like a third party app where it holds your money until you transfer it into your bank? Or does this hook to your bank account and one the customer swipes the money goes straight into your bank account?
Square is a device and service which links transactions to a preferred destination, such as PayPal or a bank account!
Thank you for all of your wonderful videos. I am getting ready to do my first craft show in March with my crochet. And I am totally clueless! Your videos are helping tremendously. Is there a minimum dollar amount you can use to the square for?
I’m so glad they’ve been helpful! So excited for you!🥰 As far as min dollar amount, I’ll have to double check on this!
No minimum, but its a waste of money under $5, unless you add a credit card usage fee with keeps your customer from trying to charge a dollar, instead of paying you the cash.
I am just working on figuring this out. I didn't keep track last season and just tried to remember if I got breaks between sales to write them down. Don't want to do that again.
Totally! I use to do that too and it was harder to track everything!
What if someone does pay in cash? How do you remove from your inventory and do you add sales tax for that as well?
That can get tricky, it depends on how you want to do that-- you can have tax included in cash but that means you'll be eating that sales tax at the end of the quarter so keep that in mind! You can always go back and update cash sales in your inventory after the market too!
I’m new to craft shows and I don’t know if I should have tips turned on or off. What do you recommend?
Hmmm, personally I have tips turned off because I set up my prices to account for as much profit as I want to make to feel like I am being fairly compensated for the product and time. Of course, you are free to turn tips on! But I think a better approach would be to set your prices from the beginning so that you feel comfortable with the income that generates, and not fell like tips are necessary to have!
so you dont use the receipt printer or the cash drawer.. ?
My question is how do client find you on that app? Is there a link or something...also can someone buy from a different country as long as they swipe from their end?
Those are great questions! I’ll have to look into that!
What if someone doesn't have card or cash and they decide they can pay either via paypal or venmo? Is there a way to track or enter that information on square too?
You can manually add in sales after the fact!
Do you also charge the customer the Square transaction fee or does that come out of your profits?
I try to incorporate fees like that into my prices so customers aren't being charged additionally for that! So, sometimes I essentially take on the fee, and sometimes that fee is already covered in the price!
Can you use the app and all the features at no cost? I guess I’m just curious if they only charge you once you actually make a card sale… 🤔
Yes, the app itself is a fully functional point of sales, you dont pay until you make a card sale.
Do you connect with Etsy or it's better to not list your product you're selling on craft shows on Etsy to save the extra fees? I'm just confused how this works
I had my Etsy connected for a while but decided not to because I didn't want to pay the transaction fees on Etsy anymore!
@@camryns_cute_creations @camryns_cute_creations I thought you don't have to pay Etsy transactions fee when you sell in person from square reader. I want to start doing vendors but still figuring out how it works with selling online and in person.
Is there another way to contact you? because the listed contact on your blog isn't working or getting me a response
Hi there! I'm so sorry it doesn't seem to be working :( You can always email me at camrynscutecreations@gmail.com! Additionally, you can always DM me on Instagram, but email will be the most direct way!
Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩❤️
❤️❤️❤️
i just got my square but the sales tax isn't popping up... the percentage in my area is only 5% i put all that down and follow the steps on your video but when i go to check out its not adding that 5%.. am i doing something wrong here?
Shoot! I’m not sure! 🤔 did you do a practice transaction?
@@camryns_cute_creations yes i did i have done 2 practice transactions on it but the tax just wasnt adding on, at first i thought maybe it just wouldnt show on the square app so i checked my bank transaction but it has only shown that i pay without the tax add on
Thanks for the info! I just signed up and it looks like its changed to 30 cents in addition to the percent- still seems like a great deal to me to be able to take cards though!
I will look into if Square has changed any of its pricing! I do agree, though, that it is a great system for accepting card payments! 😁
Good Job
Thank you!
What wouod you tell the customer if they asked how is it 38 when we have labled it was 35 not knowing or thinking about sales tax
Hmmm I’m not sure if I totally understand your question!
@@camryns_cute_creations sorry my phone went crazy say we have a beanie marked at 35 like you said and they go to pay you 35 and you say that's 38.00 and they how can it be when you have 35 on it do you tell them it's tax or how wouod you explain.
Can you do a video on licensing/ if you have an LLC? Would also love a video about paying taxes for your business!
Yes those videos will be coming this year!!!:)
good video i want to start my own business soon
That's awesome! What kind of business are you wanting to start? :)
@@camryns_cute_creations i would like to start online business. dropshipping for instance
When someone pays with cash, how do you enter that so that it updates your inventory?
I keep a record of all my transactions, and manually update my inventory with those cash sales!
How do I create categories?
This is super helpful for those of us who are jusy starting off. About the taxes: do you also recommend charging tax on cash payments? And what do you mean you had to 'eat up the cost" when doing taxes? Thanks!
Hey there! So "eating the cost" means essentially not accounting for taxes in the pricing of a product. So, that means I would not raise the price of something in order to reduce the impact taxes have on the overall profit I have for that individual product. It is still being taxed, but the financial burden of the tax swings in my direction rather than the customer's.
And for your cash question: if you have a business license, you need to be collecting taxes on all transactions where those taxes are applicable!
Square won’t verify my identity no matter what I do, i’m heartbroken. 😩
Shoot! Idk why!!!
@camrynscutecreations Could you create a video on how to use the web application and how to track cash payments? Thank you for the video. I made an account and immediately got overwhelmed by all the options so this was a nice way to narrow in on some important things.
I can definitely make a video helping with this!❤️
Thank you Camryn!
Got my reader 🎉

So excited for you! ❤️
Way too fast for this oldtimer to follow. But a really great how to video once I slowed it down and repeated steps!! Thanks🙏
I'm very glad it helped!!
I don’t have cash as a payment option. How can I add this?
I track all my cash sales and input them manually later on to keep a nice and clean financial record!
So, just to be clear it isn't "free". Each transaction 2.6% plus 10 cents. Your beanie is really pretty!! Congrats on your business!! Thank you for your video.
Yes totally! I worded that a little weird in the video but you totally understood me right! Thanks so much:)
Is it a pain to deal with all those coins because the taxes bring cash customers to an uneven number?
Yes! Totally! I try to include the tax into my cash for that reason:)
Where is your website
Can you have tips % on square ?
There is an option to add tips, yes! I haven't played around with it yet, so I can't tell you all the details, but I've definitely used it as a customer, so I know you can do tips in the form of percentages!
Do you have to have a business license?
I do!
Hi Camryn, I like your work, enthusiasm and all helpful tips, so I just signed subscription to your utility channel. I have one thing though....as english is not my first language, I found it very hard to follow as you speak soooo fast. Please if you can slow down, I think more of us will be happy with that. Love you, greetings from Ireland.
I'm so glad you love the videos! I will definitely work on slowing down a bit when I talk! There is a feature on TH-cam where you can change the speed of the video in the lower right corner if you ever need it slowed down more! :)
@woolconnections click on the settings in the top right corner of the video and then click playback speed. You can slow the speed down to whatever is most comfortable for you. Personally I watch at 0.75 x.
Whoa after listening to that motor mouth, I’m totally exhausted!!!
Do you have a square business account? If so, how would you deposit your cash profits into your account?
Hey there! As far as I know, there is no way to deposit your cash profits into your Square account. You can certainly track those sales using the cash option during checkout, but Square does not interact with the physical cash you make! 😁😊
3:14 us Canadians is freaking 15% what a greedy country 😭
Oh my gosh, that is high!
@@camryns_cute_creations when I went 1 week in the us, af1s were 110 + tax 119$ if it was 15% it would have been 126,50$
Good video, but need to slow down on your talking. Looking forward to other videos.
Thank you, I'm glad you're enjoying the content! And I appreciate the feedback!
sweetie
The information on here is good, but you have to slow it down. You sound way too hyper and it’s hard to understand what needs to be known.
You are Gourges
Thank you!
Hello! You've got great content, you're perky and nice BUT all the info is coming too fast. You are familiar with the steps, but those of us learning........... if you would slow down just a bit it would be helpful.
Thank you for your feedback!
Have you ever had anyone do a charge back?
Nobody ever has!
Square has far too many negative reviews and a 1.06 rating with BBB
That bizarre! I love it & all of my vendor friends use it for selling at markets. Lots of other bigger small business use Square around here too, I see it everywhere! I guess it's not for everyone!
All I have to do is contact my bank, dispute the charge and I'll get your merch for free. They'll side with me because it was a swipe transaction and not a chip transaction which is more secure. My wife sells tie dye and this happened to her when a customer disputed a $65 transaction. She got the Square chip reader after that.
Thank you for the information! I have since upgraded to a chip reader!
Do you really talk this fast or was your video speeded up.
I love it
Ease off on your caffeine!
I know I'm totally a fast talker! Working on this! :)
Just watch it on a slower speed to keep up. No need to leave a negative comment. She's dropping gems.
Stop being cute and slow down!!
started watching this but her voice drove me mad, sounds like Mickey Mouse on speed.
Yikes....I felt like I just got off a rollacoaster
