If you love skyrim it Doesnt matter on what platform youre playing it! If you love a game you should own it on every device you have and its avaiable. My humble opinion. :)
I could not agree more (having bought Skyrim a total of 7 times). I'm actually going to soup up my 360, drop an SSD in there and play a little 360 Skyrim. Probably make a video of the whole thing. There are folks, to this day, still playing Skyrim on Xbox 360 and having just as much fun as someone on a PC with an RTX 3090.
I own it on 360 played Soo much than I bought it on my Xbox 1 moved it to my Xbox one s and then moved it to my series s. And eventually to a Xbox series x. It has expanded my experience each time. Sort of like upgrading a pc. Lol. But I don't think I could play it on another console because I've just started modding my first playthrough after finally deciding to beat the main quest in the vanilla version. It took me like 3 weeks to get a load order that I prefer to expand the game. Thank you ancient gamer for your help with load orders.
Still impressive to suddenly have a mobile console with Xbox360 powers when you used to have a 3DS. It was such a giant jump. End of 2016 we still had to play with 240p graphics on a 3DS and suddenly in march 2017 we got the Switch.
Oh I agree completely! The idea that I've got, in a way, an Xbox 360 in my hand only makes me love it more! In real world performance terms though, between newer, more efficient tech in the Switch, and advancements in architecture, the Switch does outperform the 360 by a pretty good amount. Kind of like when the Steam Deck arrives, 2 Tflops is only a little more than the PS4's 1.8, but with a way stronger CPU and near-cutting edge tech--it will run rings around a PS4.
Playing Skyrim, and The Witcher 3, on Switch made me a true believer in the console. I actually on got to fi ish these two because l got the Switch versions as l am on the road a lot for work. The value of the console is worth the sacrifice in visual quality for me. The patch for Witcher that increased sharpening made the game look fantastic in handhled for me.
Always wanted to play skyrim. Im an old pc gamer and by the time skyrim came out , i was freshly married and priorities in life changed. As I got older and finally found time to sit down and game again I got into retro pc builds but there are levels of headaches come with that. And trying to download off steam with country living bandwith is nightmarish so skyrim was still just a dream. Longstory short I ended up getting my kids a switch lite for Christmas and found I enjoyed it very much, so much I went and got myself an OLED version for me not knowing skyrim was even available. Found the anniversary edition on sale for less than 20 dollars and jumped on it. I have been completely immersed, to say the least. I have no pryor experiences with this game or its mods so I only know the switch version and have been blown away. 1, this game is an early 2000's game which was my prime game enjoyment. 2, i played this game for over 9 hours straight while the family was away for a day and I haven't done that in a decade or more ( and my body hurt but totally worth it). To say the least, This is a great game on the switch and if you have a switch its an absolute must!
I never knew these things about the switch. I just bought this game for Switch, and watching this makes me feel good about the purchase! (Not for me, but a gift for my gf who played this before on pc so I hope she loves it!)

I totally feel you. I find it refreshing to play Skyrim on the Switch in part because you aren't encumbered by load orders and mods, uncertainty and the restlessness of it all. Just the game is what you do. Also the color palette on the Switch version is slightly brighter and more vibrant.

I know the video is 2 years old now but I'm playing it again on the switch after switching from my old one to the oled and its surprisingly pretty in handheld mode. Looks better than on the hd tv in my living room.

I suppose they could update it for the Switch, but that would entail all new and/or creation club content being ported to the Switch to match the Switch version. I'm not sure the Switch has the headroom to get a visual bump and still run smooth. I don't know off hand which outfit did the port for Switch originally, but it's evident that it is a distinctive version. The color palette is ever so slightly brighter. I thought it felt like an intermediate step between the original Xbox 360 game and the Xbox One version of Skyrim Special Edition.

Wow. I did not know that. I am aware that the Switch is not the hardest console to break in to, and that there is a way to side-load mods for Skyrim. But 60fps--was not aware of that. That would require a .ini tweak to remove the 30fps framerate cap.
Switch-version i a great way to play Skyrim, at 900p (docked mode), it holds up rather well on the TV too. But the big value is ofc to be able to do a side quest or two on-the-go. And the rather dark natured style of SKyrim's graphics works very well with the Switch Oled-version.
New Sub. I'm currently using the Xbox One S. Mod support is very helpful, and valuable. I'm not an expert. But, if I can, try to help others from a popular Skyrim Club that I help to run on Xbox Live.
That is awesome! I did a lot of modding on the One X version, loved that console, but it was always real finicky about load orders--crashed modded Skyrim a lot. I thought the original VCR model Xbox One and One S both handled mods better.
Currently, I have a few more vanilla-enhanced oriented vids I'm putting together, then it will be an ultimate modded Skyrim after that. I'm still testing mods and combinations to see what runs well on Series X and is stable. So far everything seems to--which is good news.
The only way I play Skyrim now is on Switch. Play Docked for a bit then sit cozily in bed or in my lounge chair and play hand held. Extraordinary. It'll be even better when Switch 2 releases.
I love my Switch. I use it a lot. You might have missed the part where I pointed out that 2017 Tflop/Gflops are not the same as 2006 Tflop/Glops. The Switch has raw theoretical compute power similar to a 360, but every Gigaflop is more efficient than the tech of 2005 that was in a 360. System and memory architecture is far more advanced in the Switch. How the system handles information in relation to running games--more efficient. The Switch may be a similar sized engine, but in real world terms, it will run circles around an Xbox 360. I said all of that.

The switch Tflops are closer to base Xbox one than the 360. Handheld mode is double the Gflops than the 360. I believe flops are down to the GPU that's why it's not the be all of what a device is capable of
The Switch version is a ton of fun and yeah, it's pretty impressive that they can make it look and run so well on the Switch. The idea that you can play Skyrim on a plane, in bed, a waiting room...is very cool.

Good question. From a practical standpoint, I don't think it does. I play it off of a cartridge and load times are surprisingly snappy and quicker than one might expect. Maybe a download running off of internal storage might run a tiny bit quicker, but there is no SSD in a Switch so any improvement would be hard to notice and nothing dramatic.
Yes and no. The Switch could easily run the 360 version of GTA5 if someone were to port it. But not the Xbox One or PS4 version. Much like with Skyrim, a Switch specific port would need to be made that would be, like Skyrim, a nice bump over the 360 game, but trimmed down in smart areas from the Xbox one version. It would end up being somewhere between the two but it would definitely look sharper and play smoother han the 360 version.
The architecture inside the Switch is much more efficient and the memory is faster. Plus the way data is handled in gaming applications--lots of stuff is just better implemented now than in 2005. Game developers have gotten real good at squeezing the last drop of grunt out of the Switch too.

Best way to play skyrim is on the Switch imo! There are no mods to destract you or crash your game. Ive 2 characters on 600 hours each on the Switch. Im Amazed how they fitted it all on.

Coming from PC version I’ll say this.. with AE and all the extra content it’s great. With mods on PC it’s great, but something about switch is charming. And also not wanting to console-command it up and just give myself 100000 gold 😂🤡

this is still a good purchase. maybe wait until it's on sale. it comes with a huge list of mods added so not quite vanilla.

Overall performance is pretty much the same in both docked and handheld mode. The only difference is resolution, max 900p docked and 720p in handheld.

The mod thing is too bad but other than that.. if you're that into Skyrim in your and you own a switch, it's kind of insta buy on sale.
Well guess I have to start all over ,,been playing in Xbox 360 and very very into and far deep in the game ..damn... lol
Coming from PC version I’ll say this.. with AE and all the extra content it’s great. With mods on PC it’s great, but something about switch is charming. And also not wanting to console-command it up and just give myself 100000 gold 😂🤡
