The switch is my savior as a busy dad with not much time for gaming anymore. I can often sneak in 30-40minutes on the switch in portable mode in bed before I go to sleep. Awesome system, the best Nintendo console in many years.
Steffenpoulsen Steffenpoulsen I get where you're coming from. Portability is a big reason a got a switch . Wouldn't be surprised to see something like hearthstone come to switch.
Ioannis Stf He clearly said, playing in bed... You know maybe he doesn't like to complicate turning the monitor, then the CPU; he just wants a small console with a dim screen for nights that he can put under his pillow if his wife wakes up
I never dreamed that one day, we would be able to play games like Skyrim and Doom on the go. Say what you will about the Switch, but this is damn impressive.
So let me get this straight....The difference is more bushes on the PS4 and some minor resolution difference? For a console that is "far less powerful" it punches far above its weight.
Ya penguin even digital foundry said in many cases the resolution is on par with PS4. Its pretty much a few trees and bushes lol. Stuff that really won't mean shit in the long run. I even prefer the colouring on the switch version in many circumstances. Running through Whiterun from that visual looked better on switch to me.
So what? There's no mobile game like Skyrim, not even close. I'm still bummed they canned the PSP version of Oblivion back in the day, since the leaked version looked absolutely incredible for the time.
I've never played Skyrim, so this will be my first time if I buy it. Not sure if I should get the PC version (because mod support) or the Switch version.
I love how everyone is shitting on the Switch. I guess they need to vent somewhere once they realise that their 800$ smartphones are only good for Candy Crush and Angry Birds sequels.
Adam meanwhile,Nvidia is working on New generation tegra Pascal 2 gen,10 namometars 4 teraflops of predormance in henheld,6 on docked. Brutaly low bateri consumotiom for 1080 p screan. Native 4 k on docked Tv mode. Just sayin

PREZZER UK it's a nice showcase but looking at Doom, a showcase is all it is. If it doesn't play well at the end of the day, it doesn't matter if it's ahndheld or not. People always talk about compromises but, instead of these ports, we should be getting new switch focused third party titles.
I don't expect PS4 graphics on my switch but what i do expect is a decent port of the game. Skyrim on the switch is an example of a good port. Definitely picking this one up!
I remember people saying several months ago that the Switch was not going to be able to run Skyrim smoothly because BotW was stuttering occasionally, and how it would just be a port of the PS3 version. Boy I'm so glad at how wrong they were.
Mordecai R oh really? I'm sorry but do you know about the conversations I had with these morons who legit claimed this in one of digital foundry's videos? I think not. And there are comparisons to the 360 versions and tbh it looks a lot better. Sure there are some slight compromises to make the remastered version work, but it's a legit solid 900p, 30fps. The 360 version was 720p and stuttered every 5 seconds.
Manuel Figueroa why would I be salty because the SWITCH has a Shitty version of skyrim?.... I'm not salty I got a PC and played Skyrim with Mods and I played Skyrim on the go on vita years ago.
TheDude850 you had combos with morons?... show me proof 900P 30fps only while docked than in that case the PS4 destroys the Shitty SWITCH version. Also the 360 version wasn't jittery as you claim.
toujo4 You ask how it is impressive, that a 5-6 years old game runs on a handheld now? Maybe because it's the first time in our history, that games like that run on a handheld??? Just MAYBE?!
Pretty much same here. In fact where I use the Switch the most I can still stream from my PC, but its just not as easy as running something native on the Switch. I don't have to remember to take a controller with me and hope I get a stable WiFi signal. Plus I can play it on the train.
Gabbiadini Dude I'm not bragging or lying. I'm 38 years old and lucky enough to have the disposable income for these things. I'm just making the point that even though the switch is weak in terms of power, it's still a great bit of kit and a genuinely good time. People need to remember what makes gaming great... THE GAMES. The hardware is only 25% of the equation in my opinion.
is it just me or does anybody else find the switch version more pleasing to the eye, the colour use just seems a bit colder and the game besides the obvious shimmering looks somehow sharper overall with more detail, I know this isn't the case in reality but that's what my eyeballs are seeing. pausing the video at 6.12 for example shows what I mean, that wall just looks way better on the switch to me, theres a more pleasing texture, it looks more coarse and natural, detail seems lost or smudged on the ps4

Youre literally saying the lowest amount it can reach, By that logic every game with dynamic resolution and frame rate dip runs like that the entire game. the game is mostly 30fps with frame pacing issues which will be fixed together with the audio glitch. The frame drop to 22fps is in certain demanding areas + also with a lot of enemies which you will mostly find on the highest difficulty. Stop spreading your biased information and state the full facts.
The idea of playing through Skyrim on a portable device (the complete game with dlcs) sounds like a incredibly cool concept, the memories I have of Skyrim (Xbox 360) on my initial play through are so nostalgic.
DF: "The Switch port of Skyrim does a pretty good job considering the hardware." Everyone else: "Hurr durr this looks like a mobile game!?!?!?!" It's not just about graphics guys. It's about making games work on a weaker console, which the Nintendo Switch is. Still doesn't hinder you from having fun with the game. I'm fucking enjoying playing games like Doom, Mario Odyssey and Zelda: BotW on the go.
Does illiteracy and selective hearing run in the family? DF said it was 30fps always. Also refuted all your other ignorant statements too. They're the experts and you're a salty youtube dimwit so you know their word over yours.
_Hello, gamers._ _Look at the sky. Now back to me. Now back at the sky, now back to me._ _Sadly, it isn't 4K. i dont give a shit about playing console games on the go while i can just listen to my favourite music on my phone or read my favourite book. waste of money and waste of time IN MY OPINION
Lurima Lasiaf And that's a totally valid opinion, of course, but bear in mind that by that same logic, you could just as easily make the argument that spending hundreds of dollars on books or a smartphone that lets you listen to music on the go is a huge waste when you could just buy a portable game console instead for less money.
Praise Kekistan I see you on you commented twice in row, desperate much? Your sad man, you can't even spell correctly Go back to school kid, please don't send a switch that thing is trash, I wouldn't even want that trash if it was Free, No thanks , only like girls defends kiddie NINTENDO consoles.
Most likely due to time of day or weather changing the lighting a bit. Or because there's simply differences in contrast in the output of the PS4 and Switch, but that's gonna be different on your TV anyway.
Yeah, its not about day time, contrast is higher on switch but its a matter of taste. Some people would prefer low contrast. I'm not saying the game runs better by any means.
Then it's just about TV settings. You can probably make the game look as good on PS4 on PC just by tweaking the screen settings. Or the in game contrast for that matter.
I’ve sunk over 400 hours into Skyrim on my Switch, and it’s awesome, but I have 2 relatively minor complaints: 1. For the longest time there was no way to increase the image brightness or change the gamma setting for handheld mode. I had to either spam Candlelight/Magelight or carry a torch, so any stealthy dungeon crawling had to be done while docked to my TV, and the whole point of playing this on my Switch is to play it on the go. It’s no longer an issue, but it was for 95% of my playthrough. 2. No mods, not even Creation Club. Honestly it isn’t that big of a deal, but it would be great to play Survival mode at least. Playing Skyrim without ever needed to eat or rest or take shelter just makes a game that is all about immersion less immersive.
@@dinslax5270 not skyrim only but offline games because chances are the switch would be banned for modding since it seems like Nintendo doesn't ban accounts just while ass switches
I wonder if, given some time for patching, they could sort out a solution for the foliage LOD. Given how consistent the framerate is, I would hope to see a small improvement come later patches. Perhaps, even the ability to adjust the Foliage LOD manually.
Very pleasing result for Skyrim on Switch! Even though this is based on the newer Special Edition, it'd be interesting to see how it stacks up against the last-gen versions too. Seems to look a bit better than I remember of those.
Completely possible, don't know why that guy laughs. I could play Fallout 4 on my very old 550ti just fine, and at 60fps. Don't know what the deal is with that game anyways, it is very light on resources.
It's kinda surprising that we haven't seen ports of prior Bethesda titles on Switch like Oblivion, Morrowind, Fallout 3/NV, etc. They would be a perfect fit for the platform
Yup, people make too much of a technical analysis and just want to max out everything, instead of looking at it like a piece of art. Another aspect worthy of consideration would have been how does the Switch version look like compared to the original actual PC release, not the Special Edition which is shown here on PS4.
Playing Skyrim on Switch just a few minutes ago and as someone who had previously only played it on PC, I have been consistently impressed by how close to the PC version the Switch version really is. Obviously not all settings are at max, and it of course unfortunately lacks all mod support, but otherwise the experience seems almost an exact match. I've really loved playing Skyrim on my Switch. It is fantastic and absolutely worth it, provided you haven't already played previous versions to death.
Pkt Chino most definitely. The Switch version falls between the 360 and One versions. That extra shared memory and processing overhead was pushed to the max.
There isnt too much of a difference from the PS4 and switch, hopefully it will be the same when the witcher comes out on the switch, hopefully they can make it better then what we saw today
Its really cool to finally have a portable skyrim but I already bought it twice so I'll just wait a year or two until this is $20. But if your an Nintendo fan who hasn't played this yet then your going to have a lot of fun!
It will be interesting to see what some numbers are for sales on this and Doom come next month, I'm hoping the portable scene from Vita jumps on the switch and brings over their attach rate, Vita had the best attach rate for years, nearly record setting at times, I feel like that combined with a company that backs their own system and we should get a thriving community here in less than a year. Mine is already in the mail though, did my part by pre-ordering both doom and Skyrim. I've already got multiple copies of these games but building that early support base with good numbers will help the switch in the long run.
Mine gets mad screen tearing on my tv and my gaming monitor. How do I fix this? Monitor and tv not the issue works fine with my PC monitor even has free sync (obviously doesn’t work with switch I’m just making a point) (it’s off when switch is connected)
As a new switch owner. I've been lost the past 4 days. Some games run at 30 fps but I can't explain it. You can lose hours on the switch laying back on the couch chilling. Def worth it. Graphics aren't always the best but you dont really notice it when you having fun
If you have to zoom in and show a direct comparison in order to reveal the partial graphical downgrades, it means that the developers did a great job at hiding those downgrades.
I know the Switch version is definitely missing some bells and whistles, but a part of that actually makes the Switch version look MUCH sharper and I kinda like that look.
So...slightly lower resolution, lesser volumetrics/ambient occlusion, and then they pulled the lod slider back. That’s incredible! Especially considering how the system has only been out for less than a year and the developers had a pretty limited amount of time to work on it. The parity is great and can only get better from here!
Ioannis Stf it does, it's a handheld device, I would have thought I'd would look really bad tbh, the only big difference seems to be resolution (where 720p is really good on such a small screen) and fog.
Ofc it's worse, but it's not as bad as i expected it to be on a handheld device.. A home console/PC will obviously always look better, that's not my point... -.-
That's a stupid choice, if you're going to blow that kind of money get it for PC where you can improve FOV, LOD, and add more immersive mods. PSVR is a joke
Maratuer It doesn't. Later on in the video, for example at 6.50 you clearly see how the Switch version is a lot lower quality. Just some areas that I guess can look a bit better in the video because of slightly different lights and weather.
God, november has been such a great month for the Switch. First with Doom, then with Rocket League, now with L.A. Noire and Skyrim, and then with Resident Evil Revelations Collection rounding out the month. That's a lot of ports, but a lot of damned good ones. I'd be interested to see how L.A. Noire and Rocket League hold up to their fellow console counterparts, but from what I've heard, they both run quite well. Rocket League apparently has a dynamic resolution scaler for handheld mode, but I've heard nothing like that for L.A. Noire. The Resident Evil Revelations Collection is reported to have a 720p 60FPS undocked / 1080p 60FPS docked setup for RE:RE1 and 30FPS for RE:RE2, but we'll see once review copies are out for it. Such a strong month. I can only hope that next year we will continue getting this gold mine of content!
Given the portability of the Switch and that given I'm cynical and expected it to look way worse than it does, I'm honesty very impressed. So job well done.
Guess Wolfenstein II whenever it gets released on the Switch. That be a good comparison video imo. But yeah, Skyrim was never a good looking game. Even Fallout 4 imo, looked very meh and outdated, at least for me.
Great video. Mine's already in the mail, can't wait to play it tomorrow! Thanks for doing these for switch, yea I pre-ordered it but for other games these videos are key to my buying a game. Earned a sub from me but honestly I thought I was already subbed for the last 2 years lol, sorry about that, I guess I just get enough of your videos in my feed that I thought I was subbed already
Funny seeing the super salty PC Xbox and PS4 fans getting mad that switch actually got a decent port for once and them trying to compare when they know themself that the switch port is impressive but to salty to ever admit it
A port of a PS3 version of the game is impressive? For a half-mobile system it’s just ok, not the devs fault though, the switch just can’t handle more than that.
I don't own a switch but I'm curious if you can force docked performance by charging while playing on the switch screen? I mean if I were to bring it to a relative's house and have a charging cable. I would want to play at docked performance while not having to bring the heavy dock. Is there a workaround? It's the only thing holding me back from buying a switch.
Definitely not a Wii vs PS3/X360 comparison this time. The Switch is getting comparable ports (in some cases, almost identical -- LA Noire, Lego City, et cetera). Just as long as developers aren't lazy, the Switch should be fine mostly.
I’m really looking forward to this. I’ve never played Skyrim start to finish, just messed around with mods on PC. Looking forward to actually playing the game on the go.
salvi it doesn’t look like 360 at all in terms of textures and models, game is running more assets and lighting then the original version as well it’s a toned down remastered edition just pretty much without depth of field and the highest god ray settings/shadows, there’s already a comparison and switch looks much better then PS3/360
a toned down remastered is just the original lmao. those things you mentioned are what set the remaster apart without them it looks like the original. the only thing that might be worse is the textures
salvi then go watch the switch vs 360/PS3 and tell me it’s the original because it’s clearly not just because it’s clearly not and if you can’t accept that you might have some issues
never said it was the original im saying it looks closer to the xbox 360 version than it does to ps4 so would be cool if they compared those two instead
I've only played it on PS3 before (which is comparable to 360), and it's massively better esp. in terms of resolution, anti-aliasing (low quality FXAA pass vs. somewhat high-quality - looks like MSAA-ish), textures, and, most importantly, frames ("dragon/castle siege fights in single digits" vs. hard locked at 30 all the time, no exceptions)! Also about 1/4 of the load time and less bugs. I would also assume that savegame file size doesn't impact performance anymore, although I can't confirm that because I haven't played 100 hours yet. If you say "it's the same" you have very selective memory.
Why shouldn't Bethesda do this? It's by far their most successful game and each new port sells extremely well. It would be an incredibly poor business decision by them to stop this. I really don't get it. Why are people complaining about this? Nobody is forcing you to buy one of the ports.
@DigitalFoundry What is with this "soft-handed" review of the Switch's version of this game. You wuld never have done anything near like this for Xbox or Playsttation, all of the excuses and latitude given the Switch and the not stress testing the game. What is going on?
Yeah, like in the Doom review the game drops to 20 FPS in fights and even slows down, but it's all great, thumbs up. On PS4/Xbox if it a game goes down to 29 FPS they all all over it.
It's a portable which means it deserves a bit of slack. At the end of the day if you need a side-by-side comparison to notice any differences between the versions then the graphics are practically the same. If a console meant for competing with mid-range PCs is only getting 30fps then that's shit because the PCs can get 60fps, whereas it's amazing that a console the size of a kindle can play the game at all, let alone play it better than an Xbox 360 could.
Yea because you cant just start a PC or Console for 30-40 minutes. Are you guys all living in the streets or what?
Ioannis Stf He clearly said, playing in bed... You know maybe he doesn't like to complicate turning the monitor, then the CPU; he just wants a small console with a dim screen for nights that he can put under his pillow if his wife wakes up
I'm really thinking into buying one for the same reasons.
R E lmfao
It’s crazy that this is achievable on portable now. This game used to run at 15 FPS on the ps3.
I never dreamed that one day, we would be able to play games like Skyrim and Doom on the go. Say what you will about the Switch, but this is damn impressive.
And they feel amazing to play
You can play games like Doom on a handheld since the GBA era.... Sorry
Der Antifa-Nazi Hetzer aus der Nachbarschaft ! Did you finally make your parents proud with this comment..? :)
Vermischt vermanscht und degeneriert hahaha u gba lmao
Vermischt vermanscht und degeneriert yeah 6 bit ones lol
So let me get this straight....The difference is more bushes on the PS4 and some minor resolution difference? For a console that is "far less powerful" it punches far above its weight.
I am pretty sure they did a near straight port to the PS4. It is amazing what a proper port can do.
Good luck Nintendo fans who missed out on Skyrim, it's amazing...
Wait... in 2017 there's still people out there who haven't played them game? The game costs next to nothing and it can run on a toaster.
thrice1987 I’m one of those people
thrice1987 I have Skyrim on Steam and never played it, unlike Oblivion that i have made most of it's content...
i think my grandma has completed vanilla skyrim by this point
thrice1987 is it hard to believe that a lot of people don't play every single game the moment it comes out ? I still didn't play Skyrim either.
"Dedocked" ? What about "handheld" or "undocked" ? :)
lmao
How bout...
Deeeezz nuts!
How 'bout 'unshackled'!?
@Voidamaster One, Of all the lame things to complain about, you managed to find one of the dumbest... Congrats.

Why does the ps4 game still look like the Alexa version
Someday we will play skyrim on your smart freezer, tea cup, water bottle, torch light... List gose on.
I have a GTX 1080 PC, PS4 Pro and 4K TV, And I just got a Switch. The thing is fucking awesome. Haters gonna hate I suppose.
This here is a falseflagger

jinx20001 I do agree the color palette is nicer looking
This Switch team deserves a prize. It's amazing how much them and the third parties have achieved.
Luis Herrera you’re absolutely right this underpowered console getting ports of 3-6 year old games is incredible
They haven't achieved much
Mr. Flash you’re right it’s hilarious
Luis Herrera So they deserve a prize for getting something they should of gotten with the GameCube and Wii days?
They managed to get it to look like a Wii game. Congratulations.
So aesthetically, it looks better than the original. But not as good as the “true” special edition. But I love that "cooler" environment hue that they retained.
How is it not the true Special Edition? A bluer hue not enough for you?
The video specifically says is the special edition, without a specific lighting effect. Watch the Video before commenting at least dude, geez.
TheChazzyC didn’t say it wasn’t, I just said that it isn’t as good as the alternate versions of special edition.
Chill 😂 😂 😂

The color stands out a lot on the switch. That's eye candy right there. I have a very good feel for this .
Impressive, think i'll get this and DOOM Switch as well. Nice ports for the Switch.
TheMadPolarBear DOOM IS not good port
500p
22fps
Lower than lower settings.

Portable Doom is good enough for me.

It's not just about graphics guys. It's about making games work on a weaker console, which the Nintendo Switch is. Still doesn't hinder you from having fun with the game. I'm fucking enjoying playing games like Doom, Mario Odyssey and Zelda: BotW on the go.
Trafalgar All BS aside how could you possibly enjoy playing a fast paced game like doom on that thing with 30fps on top of it.
Jeremy C What "BS aside"? And while I appreciate 60FPS games I don't need 60FPS to enjoy a game. 30FPS is not unplayable, like certain people claim.
Trafalgar Its a combo of the tiny controls and 30fps not ideal for a shooter like Doom lol.
Jeremy C I'll decide for myself what I think is ideal and what is not. Thanks.
Plus, I don't even use the Joycons. Pro controller all the way.
I'd play a hell of a lot more mobile games if they looked like that..
I'm gonna buy every single Bethesda game on switch. They are doing amazing work. I really cannot wait to see wolfenstein 2
Same here buddy, I really LOVE Doom on the Switch, amazing port, can't wait for this game tomorrow!
baez1301 oh man it's so fun. The digital foundry video on it really makes it seem bad....
Does illiteracy and selective hearing run in the family? DF said it was 30fps always. Also refuted all your other ignorant statements too. They're the experts and you're a salty youtube dimwit so you know their word over yours.
It amazing
oof! this comment has not aged well. Bethesda has gone down hill recently with increasingly more shady business practices. and lack of switch ports
Wow, that is actually a very impressive port!
The came came out in 2011, what do you mean?
It's literally a 360 and ps3 game, it's not hard to pull this off
toujo4 what do you do for a living? Do you enjoy flying or do you take that for granted as well?
Christofer Robin what?
Its based on the current gen edition tho.

I love this reference.
i dont give a shit about playing console games on the go while i can just listen to my favourite music on my phone or read my favourite book. waste of money and waste of time IN MY OPINION
Please stop hating people. I'm glad people have a great mobile version of this great game. You should be too. And I don't even own a switch.
Atticus Howle I've already seen a mobile version of this game, it came out in 2014 for tablets.

*insert console i don't like here* was a mistake
oussama mrissa PC is always a mistake.
Consoles are a mistake.
Some scenes I prefer Switch over PS4, because of contrast and colors.
Most likely due to time of day or weather changing the lighting a bit. Or because there's simply differences in contrast in the output of the PS4 and Switch, but that's gonna be different on your TV anyway.
It has nothing to do with time of day you can see better colors and contrast easily on Switch
SilverEye but the point is on Switch screen and by default Switch looks better
I’ve sunk over 400 hours into Skyrim on my Switch, and it’s awesome, but I have 2 relatively minor complaints:
Playing Skyrim without ever needed to eat or rest or take shelter just makes a game that is all about immersion less immersive.
i know this is a late reply, but on modded Switch you can mod the Skyrim and even change graphics settings like Volumentric Fog.
@@dinslax5270 thw only issue is he'd have to dedicate that switch to skyrim only
@@dinslax5270 not skyrim only but offline games because chances are the switch would be banned for modding since it seems like Nintendo doesn't ban accounts just while ass switches
@@seminooblex8057 not true he could set up an emunand and keep his sysnand clean. No ban and can still use Nintendo Services
Happy to say they added survival now :)
I wonder if, given some time for patching, they could sort out a solution for the foliage LOD. Given how consistent the framerate is, I would hope to see a small improvement come later patches. Perhaps, even the ability to adjust the Foliage LOD manually.
The fact that we're even seeing the same console games on a portable device is still very impressive.
Andy Ward not really, this game is on tablets too.... way before this.
Now If I ever see the Witcher 3 on the SWITCH I will tip my hat to the Switch but thus far nothing impressive not Even DOOM.
Mordecai R my god. You're on a crusade. How's it working for you so far? Has anyone joined you through this epic rant journey?
Whish you all the best!
Mordecai R You've replied to almost every comment on this video, get a life man
Mordecai R Skyrim is on tablets? So its been ported to Android? Source pls
Skyrim: The how many times can we make you buy this game edition!
Boy do i have news for you....
L. A. Noire next?
Very pleasing result for Skyrim on Switch!
Even though this is based on the newer Special Edition, it'd be interesting to see how it stacks up against the last-gen versions too. Seems to look a bit better than I remember of those.
I hope Fallout 4 comes to the switch ☺
ahahahahahahaha
Completely possible, don't know why that guy laughs. I could play Fallout 4 on my very old 550ti just fine, and at 60fps. Don't know what the deal is with that game anyways, it is very light on resources.
Fallout 4 is the only current big Bethesda game that isn't on the Switch, so I don't know what's laughable about wishing for it.
A dude who likes comics and stuff
It's laughable that people think it's possible.
very doable, i bet people would be surprised how good it would end up looking.
Looks and runs just like I remember it, playing it on a 10 years old PC at the time the game came out in 2011.
The Switch version looks better. The Special Edition on other platforms added this weird fog that makes everything look washed out and faded.
thats depth of field. yeah it kinda shitty. but when you play 2 hours you dont notice and enjoy sweet graphics :D
The fact that there's no fallout on switch is tragic
Especially Fallout New Vegas. I would buy the second it launches.
I need them
It's kinda surprising that we haven't seen ports of prior Bethesda titles on Switch like Oblivion, Morrowind, Fallout 3/NV, etc.
They would be a perfect fit for the platform
Idk about Fallout 3 or NV but I would bet the code for the older game like Oblivion or Morrowind is too messy
@@JiF28 Especially when the XBOX consoles have most of those games backwards compatible.
That would be epic for this console just imagine the best games ever of the PC running here ROFL
I like the switch colors better, it pops more. Definitely looks great, might have to pick this up!
Yup, people make too much of a technical analysis and just want to max out everything, instead of looking at it like a piece of art. Another aspect worthy of consideration would have been how does the Switch version look like compared to the original actual PC release, not the Special Edition which is shown here on PS4.
@@swires1 💯
Would have been nice to see how it compares to the PS3/360 versions
Michael Bracken ign already did a comparison Switch destroys them both
too bad the PS3 version is a disaster
How is the PS4/XBOX relevant when he wanted to see a comparison against the PS360?
Do the loading times take 50 years like the PS3 version?
albert fish It's a good in-between version though.
Do a comparison with the Xbox 360/PS3 versions!
askjiir ign already did one and Switch destroys them both
Pkt Chino most definitely. The Switch version falls between the 360 and One versions. That extra shared memory and processing overhead was pushed to the max.
The Switch destroyed them both? Sure showed that 12 year old hardware who's boss eh? :P
No need, Switch overkills 360/PS3 versions.
Want to link to it ? Im having trouble finding the video
Still 60$
@@dirtydirtsgt4751
^^ lol
Really liking the switch version - colour pallet looks less washed out too
Mine gets mad screen tearing on my tv and my gaming monitor. How do I fix this? Monitor and tv not the issue works fine with my PC monitor even has free sync (obviously doesn’t work with switch I’m just making a point) (it’s off when switch is connected)
Excellent video, very informative! Keep up the great work guys. 😀👍
Talos is proud
Maybe it's just me but I think The color looks better on switch
Very impressive! Amazing what they can do with the Switch, especially, in portable mode! 😎👍
You don't need to zoom on a TV, only when people watch this on phones.
I know the Switch version is definitely missing some bells and whistles, but a part of that actually makes the Switch version look MUCH sharper and I kinda like that look.
I said the same thing
Great stuff. borderline irrelevant cutbacks on a console that's portable. How can people complain?
Skyrim on the Go!!!
Who's Day 1?
Nice. It seems like a fairly admirable conversion, particularly when played in portable mode. Thanks for the comparison!
So...slightly lower resolution, lesser volumetrics/ambient occlusion, and then they pulled the lod slider back. That’s incredible! Especially considering how the system has only been out for less than a year and the developers had a pretty limited amount of time to work on it. The parity is great and can only get better from here!
Looks pretty similar to the ps4 version O.o [EDIT: for a handheld console...]
Ioannis Stf it does, it's a handheld device, I would have thought I'd would look really bad tbh, the only big difference seems to be resolution (where 720p is really good on such a small screen) and fog.
Hugo NOT even close, lower settings, inferior textures, annoying tearing, the SWITCH is not even close to the PS4 version.
Ofc it's worse, but it's not as bad as i expected it to be on a handheld device.. A home console/PC will obviously always look better, that's not my point... -.-
FOR ME SI BETTER THAN THE PS4 version.
I wouldn't be able to see the difference without this video. I doubt most people would either.
playing this game for the first time in VR now and it's mind blowing!
Fendera I'm getting a PSVR for Christmas just for this game and RE7 of course.
That's a stupid choice, if you're going to blow that kind of money get it for PC where you can improve FOV, LOD, and add more immersive mods. PSVR is a joke
Why is it a joke whats wrong with it its cheaper its getting some good games too
Also please let people decide on what they buy or do.
On portable the guy grows up 10/10
Would be interested to hear how long the load times get when you have spent a long time with the game.
I was really hoping to see a dramatic end to the video, and sure thing you guys delivered ;)
I would like to see a comparison between the last gen consoles Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Just for fun

Is there a FOV increase option on Switch?
Where’s the VR analysis?? It was suppose to be up days ago.
When do we hear about Nioh performance on PC?
DolphinVi ^
Will this run better than PS4 considering its ported over from it? Thats my only concern.
I would so buy that on Switch.
Great work, guys! As usual! ^^
Dark Helmet Rules! Didn't expect to see you here lol
mark grayson Lol!
Have u mixed up the PS4 and Switch icons related to the images , or the Switch looks really better than the PS4?
Maratuer It doesn't. Later on in the video, for example at 6.50 you clearly see how the Switch version is a lot lower quality. Just some areas that I guess can look a bit better in the video because of slightly different lights and weather.
Maratuer Switch looks like the og version before they remastered it and changed the lighting
Explain to me how lower resolution looks better? WTF
PC version with mods looks way better than any console, no diss to consoles just stating the truth .
........ No
Any word on file size or if it all fits on the cart it comes on? Mandatory downloads?
Such a big open-world game running at 900p with stable 30fps is hella impressive.
Given the portability of the Switch and that given I'm cynical and expected it to look way worse than it does, I'm honesty very impressed.
So job well done.
Was never a great looking game to begin with guys. So what will really be interesting is seeing how games like Far cry 5 perform and run.
? You won't be able to see that lol
Chris Bullock Ubisoft never been all that great with ports.
Far cry 5 won't be on the Switch doe lol
Guess Wolfenstein II whenever it gets released on the Switch. That be a good comparison video imo. But yeah, Skyrim was never a good looking game. Even Fallout 4 imo, looked very meh and outdated, at least for me.
Lol nice bait mate.
are you guys going to do Orginal Xbox games running on Xbox one now that the backwards compat is out ?
Great video. Mine's already in the mail, can't wait to play it tomorrow! Thanks for doing these for switch, yea I pre-ordered it but for other games these videos are key to my buying a game. Earned a sub from me but honestly I thought I was already subbed for the last 2 years lol, sorry about that, I guess I just get enough of your videos in my feed that I thought I was subbed already
I'm going to get a lot of hate for this but I think the switch version looks better, The colors are brighter and pop more. Just my personal opinion.
That doesn't mean anything since through modes and TV settings the switch version is bland by comparison.
VERY NICE work Bethesda!
Miguel Ferreira don't think they ported it
I don't own a switch but I'm curious if you can force docked performance by charging while playing on the switch screen? I mean if I were to bring it to a relative's house and have a charging cable. I would want to play at docked performance while not having to bring the heavy dock. Is there a workaround? It's the only thing holding me back from buying a switch.
Great video! Thanks for the analysis. I have a copy waiting for me at home and can't wait to play.
shoot for $30 I am getting it for sure
Did you end up getting Skyrim bro? I’m torn between this version or the ps4 upgrade to ps5 version for $20 with all the free content
Running at the same frame rate as ''The most powerful Consoles in the World'' LOL
Switch is such a beast!
Primarch Vakarian Switch has a better CPU.
albert fish No, it actually does
Xbox one X is the most powerful console actually
The Average Ordinary
that's why it runs Doom in low 20's
@albert fish
PS4/Xbox One have a horrid CPU. Jaguar was a entry level tablet CPU from 2013. Tegra X1 is a flag ship tablet CPU from 2015.
Definitely not a Wii vs PS3/X360 comparison this time. The Switch is getting comparable ports (in some cases, almost identical -- LA Noire, Lego City, et cetera). Just as long as developers aren't lazy, the Switch should be fine mostly.
Yeah, nothing wrong with that. But I'm also referring to current-gen ports which are also comparable.
Betheada I have one question and question only...Is Skyrim Bugsless? (Explosion in background).
No game is ever bugless and the Special Edition of Skyrim seems to have less bugs assocaited with it
Glitches are what make skyrim fun as hell, the ones that ruin the game 99% have been removed.
Another great presentation from our good fren wichard
We love you man
Please do NFS Payback next.
JonesBrothersProductions why?
It sucks on every version so what is the point
JonesBrothersProductions
I don't think so, that game is trash
JonesBrothersProductions or burnout paradise
JonesBrothersProductions yes, followed by the dishonored 2/doto 4k update on xboxonex
Great port!
I bet bare feet still look ugly though lol!
I’m really looking forward to this. I’ve never played Skyrim start to finish, just messed around with mods on PC. Looking forward to actually playing the game on the go.
Would of loved to see portable mode in motion not just in screenshots.
wouldve been interesting to compare it to the xbox 360 version. looks the same as that to me
salvi it doesn’t look like 360 at all in terms of textures and models, game is running more assets and lighting then the original version as well it’s a toned down remastered edition just pretty much without depth of field and the highest god ray settings/shadows, there’s already a comparison and switch looks much better then PS3/360
a toned down remastered is just the original lmao. those things you mentioned are what set the remaster apart without them it looks like the original. the only thing that might be worse is the textures
salvi then go watch the switch vs 360/PS3 and tell me it’s the original because it’s clearly not just because it’s clearly not and if you can’t accept that you might have some issues
never said it was the original im saying it looks closer to the xbox 360 version than it does to ps4 so would be cool if they compared those two instead
Year 2050 : skyrim on my calculator
Seriously bethesda? You will remake skyrim for any device that has a screen on it.
They probably will, it will play on those 80's casio calculator watches.
Soumyajeet Patra technically this is the first device they've put Skyrim on that always has a built in screen.
Why shouldn't Bethesda do this? It's by far their most successful game and each new port sells extremely well. It would be an incredibly poor business decision by them to stop this.
I really don't get it. Why are people complaining about this? Nobody is forcing you to buy one of the ports.
wonder when I'll be able to get Skyrim: Refridgerator Edition
no1DdC only bad thing is... its stopping them from making new games. We want an elder scrolls 6. Not skyrim for the rest of our life.
should compare switch and last gen
How would it compare to the last gen versions aswell?
Does it have the godrays and volumetric fog?
ye
No, they’re disabled.

Ikr they should be using an enchanted daedric sword lol ecks dee.
my potato laptop can run this game at 720p 60fps np...but switch is the real 'portable machine '..so props to switch i guess

Your are running original skyrin or special edition ? Special edition is more demanding
supersbbrawl4ever amd hd 8750m and i5 3250m,6 gb ram, and iam indeed playing the special edition at medium settings
supersbbrawl4ever i kinda said that man.Did u even read the comment?
Off topic does anyone know if skyrim vr is taken from the old ps3/360 version or the current special edition?
I'm completely happy with the Switch version, just remember that this game was originally released on the PS3 and the XBOX 360!!!
