Thank you for being reasonable. This faker does not represent anyone other than themselves. The damage in which he has done to his career is probably irreparable. Let alone the victims of real hate crimes.
I don't think it's completely unfair to view individuals as representative of their group. Jussie as an isolated individual is a narcissist, yes, but there just so happens to be thousands of others just like him in Hollywood. Like, you won't find men living in the middle of rural Afghanistan pulling the type of shenanigans that Jussie pulled, so clearly his actions are indicative of something specific to his social position and culture. No man is an island.
They built that up over a few years of time like they had a goal in mind. May have been absolutely the pinnacle of being "hot and stupid". They didn't commit crimes until very recently. Horrible example of infamy not getting comeuppance.
The judge pointing out how much jussie is laughed at and how his name is directly associated with lying was a great moment. I genuinely believe Jussie cares more about his image being destroyed than his life being destroyed and thats why reminding him what he did to his reputation as a celebrity is so great. @@pleaseenteraname8211 Oddly enough, I don't think that's the case. Well, yes on it's face, and my bet is, no, also. I mean, it failed _spectacularly_ anyways, but it failed so big that I'm a little curious if that wasn't more the point. Granted, narcissists have massive blind spots and egos that could explain how obviously he failed. Seeing as he's had involvement with actual activists and causes, he didn't need to fabricate hate crime; it's already a thing. Granted also, that I being that narcissistic, it's totally reasonable to expect the whole thing to be just about him getting that spot light, and yes it was. What I mean is... this was such an obvious sh*tshow from the drop, that the whole spectacle from minute one was about the failed attempt, and not the show. The failure was the show. He handed people in the most delusional arms of the right wing hate forums, precisely the kind of case they desired... which... that could very well be a coincidence. Not saying it's the case, but I would not be in the lease bit surprised to hear he got paid to do that job, simply because it was such perfect anti-activist propaganda. "You can go back to brunch now; it was all a ruse; there is no hate crime in Ba Sing Se." Yes, this is conspiratorial and speculative thinking, full stop. So we should consider the case as-is as the whole story. Meanwhile, I'm still gonna' wonder about this, because if only by chance, it was a perfectly timed and executed spectacle, almost designed to have a chilling, minimizing, even gaslighting effect on activism at the time. That could just be Jussie's narcissism and blind spots, but I certainly do wonder if there wasn't more to it.

One thing the judge did really well about this, and that's side by side with Adum's take on reabilitation instead of retribution - actual justice tbh -, is when he considered Jussie to have "two sides" as a person. The thing that is so scary about this case is something my dad brought up to me: if me and my dad were walking on that street and were implicated in the crime then Jesse might have never seen justice. The whole country would have us arrested & with the brothers not coming forward to no admit they were hired by him… we would be in jail for years.
But you would have never been implicated in the crime in the first place because no two white men could ever be placed at the crime scene. If you're looking to become a copyright lawyer, you'll really need to study law and pass the bar exam. As Leonard French puts it, you don't want to become the next Richard Liebowitz.
If I were the judge, I would’ve said that it is especially troubling that in light of all the evidence presented, you have yet to admit any level of guilt and still adamantly insist on your innocence, so at this time I’m giving you the opportunity to confess your involvement and offer some form of apology and it may be considered grounds for reconsideration of sentencing
When Adum was talking about one person does not represent the entire BLM, the South Park episode "With Apologies to Jesse Jackson" came to mind. Where they have to tell Randy and others that Jesse Jackson is not the speaker for all black people. And when some people are saying that this one guy makes all black people look bad. This is just one person. It just makes himself look bad. I appreciate how Adum responds to these topics. He disagrees, but in a respectful way. Not insulting anyone, not even raising his voice. Only warning them that he believes that they're thinking about this wrong and try not to think like that. I think he would be great in a legal career due to how neutral and carefully he handles subjects like this.
Honestly seeing this video has given me a bit of faith in humanity to not allow bullshit like this to be acceptable. Since day one people have been attempting to invalidate the seriousness of what Jussie did and it's nice to see a judge and a TH-camr that recognizes the wide ranging affects a crime of this magnitude presents. But since the judge is white and so are u there will be alot of people that cry "racist" just for the sake of it. It doesn't matter what ur race is. We are all capable of being manipulative narcissistic people and he got what he deserved. Aren't there deals sometimes about admiting guilt for a lighter sentence? It's not the same as punishing more for NOT admiting guilt, but the incentive's still there
Technically all plea deals are like that, because admitting guilt is necessary before the court accepts the deal. The vast majority of criminal cases in the US are resolved by admitting guilt in exchange for a lighter sentence, or admitting a lesser crime in exchange for more serious charges being dropped.
How can anyone say that they are innocent after hearing their crime and evidence listed out step by step like a Danganronpa closing argument? I almost expect electronic music to play while he repeatedly yells "I'm not suicidal!" in his Panic Talk Action while a Subway sandwich, bottle of bleach and a noose float and orbit him.
5:28 this whole convo is great. It is important to avoid thinking in categories like that. Bravo in calling that out and correcting that way of thinking.
I like how Adum creates a hypothetical system where you get less time if you admit you did the crime, and sees the inherent flaws a system like that wound have, not knowing that is exactly how the courts work in America.
The fact that Juicy wanted body cameras on cops & probably pushed for them makes this extra hilarious. They did get used to catch a criminal, so good job pushing for them Juicy
19:40 this is already a problem, innocent people will admit guilt to get a lesser sentence such as in the case of Richard Heene (the whole balloon boy scandal). Going to trial and losing on an innocent plea already gets you a worse sentence than a guilty plea in a lot of cases.
In the US, our justice system is ONLY about retribution. Like, legitimately though. It's mostly just about punishment. There is very little to no attempt at rehabilitation here.
I wouldn’t say that. Realistically it depends on the jail/prison you go to. Some are filled with reform programs, others have none and are where the stuff of nightmares happen. This is mainly due to the decentralization of our states, and the VASTLY different opinions we have about how we should treat criminals.
@user-kk2dw1eh5q every state run prison run at a loss, and most private one also run at a loss being maintained by government grants and subsidies. Adum's takes were great here. Had no reason to follow this case, but was interested to hear Adum's thoughts, and I appreciate him sharing them. I like to speculate on where Jussie's head may have been at, beyond just the communal narcissism. There's a thread to pull on how much of American, "progress," is purely performativity, theatrics, and cash grabs, or at least, it's not hard to see where someone would get that impression. For many involved in activism, all they'll ever know is getting a 'both sides'd' mention on the afternoon news, maybe a spot of hate-screed on the opposition evening news, and absolutely no change. Then some corporate entity will 'virtue signal' and try to re-brand and sanitize those efforts, contributing less than nothing to any causes. Not to mention, becoming your most boisterous inner narcissist is _kind of the point_ of much of American society. By that I mean, being completely self absorbed, inconsiderate, and awful to others just gets more clicks and pays more dividends than say, for instance, being tear gassed by police for trying to stop an oil pipeline through 'protected' land. The world was primed to make a huge deal out of a hate crime, so like any self-absorbed American edge lord, he positioned himself not to engage with that subject, but to be it's center of attention. It's a little odd to me that he leaned deeply into a common right wing trope about liberal performativity, and made it reality for them. America has a serious trend of profitable persecution complexes, and uses it to deflect from actually improving anything. ...and that's dumb.
3:04 He did more then waste resources. He tried to further stoke racial division. Which is pretty evil if you ask me. 2 years would be more than reasonable especially with his little "outburst" while leaving the court room.

He’s in a psych ward now?
I don't think it's completely unfair to view individuals as representative of their group. Jussie as an isolated individual is a narcissist, yes, but there just so happens to be thousands of others just like him in Hollywood. Like, you won't find men living in the middle of rural Afghanistan pulling the type of shenanigans that Jussie pulled, so clearly his actions are indicative of something specific to his social position and culture. No man is an island.
If infamy didn't pay, the Pauls wouldn't be millionaires.
They built that up over a few years of time like they had a goal in mind. May have been absolutely the pinnacle of being "hot and stupid". They didn't commit crimes until very recently. Horrible example of infamy not getting comeuppance.
What "legitimate" hardships are you referencing?
The judge pointing out how much jussie is laughed at and how his name is directly associated with lying was a great moment. I genuinely believe Jussie cares more about his image being destroyed than his life being destroyed and thats why reminding him what he did to his reputation as a celebrity is so great.
Thats also why i think he might epstein himself because hes holding onto anything that might help his image even if it kills him
Bottom line, Jussie is now legally considered cringe in the state of illinois.

This very french actor got what was coming to him
3:04 He did more then waste resources. He tried to further stoke racial division. Which is pretty evil if you ask me. 2 years would be more than reasonable especially with his little "outburst" while leaving the court room.
