James Corden and Rebel Wilson ripping on the visual effects for Cats, as if their incredibly awful performances would have been fine if the CGI had been a bit better.
Apparently there is a reason why Cats' music performances were completely terrible. Director Tom Hooper (of Le Mis fame) thought it was a good idea for the orchestra to follow the actor's singing no matter how out of sync the actor's performance was. You don't have to be a music theory major to know that is very ass backwards logic and will result in the band playing through multiple tempos for just one song. It's why Le Mis was so poorly received because all the actors are in their own world.

VFX teams need more love. The visual effects are arguably pretty good for what they are. It's not the VFX people who should be getting the fall, it should be Tom Hooper for going with that awful direction.

honestly Tom Hooper throwing the overworked visual effects department under the bus because of his own shitty directorial decisions has to be the most asshole move I have seen in a while. Like your concept was flawed from the start Tom, and no visual effects were ever gonna fix that, especially after you made it like ten times more difficult on them because a movie made with mocap suits is not Oscar material.
Honestly it was mostly the designs that were a problem. The actual effects were pretty decent for what they had to work with.
@@hithedragon7842 except for the floating faces, the inconsistent proportions, them not having cat hands and you know, the shots that clearly weren’t finished because they had an unfair deadline and a director who barely understood the effects.
