      @@junebug7606 I can't put blame on his parents. So many people were taught right when they were children but grow up to be something else. My mom was amazing yet my brother turned out as if someone else raised him entirely. You get to a certain age and you learn what a lie , you learn the difference between right & wrong. I will say this about his family they are shamelessly defending him and acting as if he is in prison because of his skin color, telling the media that the judge was talking down to him 🙄😏 His brother & sister talking about the trial being unfair yet this trial went on longer than most murder trials.. then they want to talk about "but what if he didn't lie". The only thing this trial showed me was he's not as good of an actor as i thought he was.

    I find it deeply disturbing that the DIRECTOR of the NAACP, along with a prominent minister in Chicago, wrote to the judge and asked him to have MERCY on Smollett. Anyone else find that shocking?!

      It was a huge misplacement of logic. I'm mixed black and this is an embarrassment. Most African-Americans think he should go to jail. They are angry. As far as the NAACP it did well especially back in the day. (most people do not know that it was formed by whites and run by whites until the 1950s) I will also say that most of the NAACP members do not agree with the national director. He'll be voted out for sure.

And possibly still have a second chance at an acting career.. but he's blowing it by continuing to deny it and act like he was framed.     I love how the Judge was pulling Jussie in by opening with how good he is. How supportive of him to the community, family, and every other good reasons. You can see the glow of hope slowly shining brighter in Jussie's eyes. Then the judge totally destroy all his hopes so very deliciously.

    I have very high respect of this judge. He is pushing the water uphill and he is telling the truth. Not what the main stream media would like to hear. Smollett has no sign of remorse even at the very end of the trial. the Jury, not the judge convicted him beyond reasonable doubt and claimed to be innocent after an overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Good luck to your new gated home, Smollett (jail)!!!!

    After hearing this judge for more then 35 minutes, I have to say that he was more then fair. He was compasionate and understanding to the seriousness of the issue of race and it's effect on our citizens. And for the family to stand there and push back on his descission is so unreal. And now the world can see what hypocrites they are. It's one thing to be a loyal family and to have each others back, no matter what the situation is. Why they couldn't just stay silent and accecpt this gift? I say gift, because as we all heard the judge say, Jussie could have been given, by law, a much hursher sentence.

      This judge is full of shit....I wish the Court system would have shown the SAME attention to detail and scrutiny to a LaQuan McDonald case where he was MURDERED by the racist White cop Jason Vandyke 🤔 In which he received 3 years which is actually 1 1/2 Years for committing A RACIALLY BASED MURDER. Let's not even talk about the Perjury that not only Jason Vandyke but the other officers committed. It seems that WHITE people have a separate set of laws that they are afforded. I wish the judges would get on the same page. This judge is having his 5 minutes of fame so this well prepared, rehearsed and biased speech should have been given to Jason Vandyke the CONVICTED MURDERER. The lawyers work harder, the judge judges smarter, and the jury attribute wealthy people as noncriminals because clearly they're hard workers and hard workers can't do no wrong. Some people get killed fir their race or origin and for their sexual preference… that is not something you plan as a hoax and then lie to the jury and still not sorry… it’s insane and because its such a crazy scenario the judge felt compelled to speak on it ..

    Something I find spectacular is, despite how unbelievably hard the judge went here, he STILL sounded more dissapointed than actually mad. Which, in some cases like these, can actually cut deeper than straight up spite or malice.

    Everything the judge said was ON POINT. To me, the funniest thing is that when jussie finally stood up to speak, he denies everything and basically proves the judge right about everything he said.

    “Throwing a national pity party for yourself” - what an indictment for someone who claims to stand for social justice. The judge does not pull punches. No escaping the judge’s unequivocal endorsement of jury finding in the face of “overwhelming evidence”.
